What are your needs? If it's just two of you, and you don't expect to need more seating or storage, you could get a Honda FIT, or something sporty like a Miata. If you want to go off-road (beach, mountains), then you would probably want a Jeep.
The sky is the limit sorta speak....what do you LIKE! That would be my first thought, then, I'd see if I could tow what I like....If not, then I'd go for second best...etc

As Bill said, what are your needs, besides being four down towable. And no, you cannot tow ANY manual transmission car. There are some manual transmissions that are not towable without mods, such as a drive shaft disconnect.

NO, you can NOT tow "any manual transmission" vehicle! Always check the Owners Manual for specific directions.
I like my Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited. Saying that a Jeep "rides like a Jeep" is like saying my Dodge 1 ton "rides like a truck". Well, YEAH, what can you expect!

jeeps are super cool and very easy to flat tow...and your assumption about *any* manual tranny vehicle is not correct. never assume.
we tow either an '03 wrangler or a '10 liberty. both are auto trannys and have txfr cases that have a manually selected neutral position. without a txfr case that can be placed in neutral a jeep cannot be flat towed.
