This was discussed on a question I posted about 3-4 weeks ago about what is better to run a refer on. In theory, if you are getting 120 volts AC and no voltage is lost due to drop in the cord, electric and propane should cool down the refrigerator exactly the same.

I mainly use propane because a refrigerator uses very little, it keeps the spiders out of the flue, and if the electric isn't exactly 120 volts, it cools things down a tad better.

As for cooling things down, I like tossing the hard packs of Blue Ice into the refrigerator, and one in the freezer, mainly to keep frozen items cool for the 2-3 hours until the freezer is cold enough. The refrigerator will take a little longer (although a tiny battery operated fan does help.)

LPG will cool your fridge quicker because the BTU production is higher than the 120V electric elements that also cool the fridge
Your freezer should feel cold within 2-3 hours and your whole unit should be reasonable cold with in 8 hours if its working up to par.
Worst thing U can do is put room temp item,s in the fridge before u cool it down.In other words dont put anything in there tills it cooled down some and then try and have only precooled items to put in the fridge at first

I find that when I put dry ice in the refrigerator and a piece in the ice box it cools down quit quickly and it last a long time along with the propane. But if I have time to wait I just use the propane.

Life is too short; enjoy it the best way possible
