As my neighbor was packing up this weekend, I watched him dump his tanks, unhook his sewer hose from the trailer and proceeded to stick the fresh water hose into the sewer hose to rinse it out, could not believe I was watching this, cannot guess what their fresh water is like. Is there anyone else out there that would do this?

I've seen the opposite, where the guy filled his FW tank from the 'flush' hose.

He was only 15 feet from the FW hydrant and thought it was too much trouble to use that one.

Did he offer you a nice cold glass of ice tea during the weekend??

This is one reason why I never go to a "pot luck dinner"!!

While I have rinsed the slinky out before, not by sticking the water hose INTO it! These days by the time the grey has finished emptying and the black has been flushed till clear water is all I see in the elbow I don't see a reason to rinse one more time.

Walk on over ask your neighbor why he does it. I've seen it before, although they didn't have it right in the sewer hose but sprayed from a few inches away. Still could have some cross contamination but some don't use their freshwater for drinking or cooking. Either way, I don't give it much thought to why people do the things they do, as long as it doesn't infringe on my camping experience.

You won't get anyone to admit it but I have seen it also.
The other thing is to rinse out the hose from the water source right into the hose.
That's why you will see the end of the hose at the dump site curved so it can't be stuffed up into the hose or drain.
I'll bet he wasn't wearing disposable gloves either!

My fresh water hoses are white. I also carry a green hose and if needed that is the hose I use to wash off the sewer hose if needed.

Before I connect to any RV park faucet I run the water then bleach the faucet connection before connecting my hose.

I also store my green hose and all sewer hose and connectors away from my fresh water hose.

Carrying some bleach in a spray bottle is just a good idea when camping.

I have used my garden hose at home once or twice for an extra rinse prior to packing away the sewer hose for the winter. Can't say that the hose didn't touch the inside edge of the sewer line a little bit, but I sure didn't loose any sleep over it.
