We will be in Big Bend this September and would like to visit our daughter in Mexico. Can anyone give me info/links to traveling in Mexico, where to cross, safety, etc. I have searched different forums but having trouble finding routes. Seems like it is about 1000 miles. Have plenty of time to make this trip. Is there a forum/site for traveling with others?

i think the durango to mazatlan road will be opened this november....Maybe. then you can go over to mazatlan, spend a couple of days there and then head south.
