Just found an unauthorized charge to my debit card for 90.00. Thought i would give everyone a heads-up it was a charge from GLOBAL-LAMDA in SEOUL KOREA EVERYONE SHOULD BE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR THIS.

I strongly suggest you cancel that card ASAP and get a new one. Someone obviously has your account info and probably only a matter of time before you are hit again.

That was my first order of buisness.

Have you done business with the company that debited your card or was it simply purchased from an unknown source and fradulantly used? I would expect if it was a purchase from the thief they would have changed more than 90.00 to it so my GUESS would be you had some business dealings with them (knowingly or unknowingly). Glad you caught it when you did and HOPE you canceled the card immediately.

You have to use your debit card to get cash from an ATM, at least here in Canada. Getting cash from your credit card incurs interest immediately.

Next will be the ones who come on here and say "I've been using a debit card all my life and nothing has happened!"...it will eventually

This just didn't sound right to me, so I looked it up. What I found here indicates that since 2010 a mandatory 21 day grace period is in effect.

on looking closer it may only apply to purchases not cash.

State Trooper friend of mine rented a car,, Shortly after she got a call from her credit card company "Did you buy a bunch of stuff from_____?" (no she had not)

Well when the package was delivered, The UPS man had a partner on the truck, After the addressee signed for the package she explained that brown was not really her color.. Hers was BLUE. And off they went to Jail, followed by her returning to the office and going home (he got to stay in jail).

Seems the clerk in the Auto rental place copied the imprint of her card, jotted cown the number on the rear and gave that info to his brother, now they are going to stay in close contact for a while (Same cell) and the older brother is out of work.

She.. Suffered no loss since all the goods were returned for credit and the bank made up the rest,, She is also still employeed (Well may be retired onw, I mean I retired several years ago).

Crime does pay.. Me, every month, Active department empoyees every 2 weeks. I mean without crime,, what need would they have of police and dispatchers?

Dunno about Canada, but I use an ATM card. I specifically request an ATM only card, not an ATM/debit card.

Agreed that getting cash on a credit card is foolish.

which is why we rarely, if ever, use our debit cards anywhere other than at our bank's ATM. at least with credit card fraud i'm limited to...what is it now...$50? we've been victims of CCF twice now and in both cases the issuing company waived all charges.

With BA your Debit card is limited to $0 fraud.

From BA
If your debit card is ever lost or stolen, we'll reimburse you for any fraudulent purchases.

Claims may only be filed against posted and settled transactions subject to dollar limits and subsequent verification, including providing all requested information supporting fraudulent use claim. For debit card transactions, claims must be reported within 60 days of the statement.

Get peace of mind—for 4 consecutive years, Bank of America was named No. 1 in the annual Javelin Strategy & Research Card Issuer's Identity Safety Scorecard analysis, which rated 26 of the nation's largest credit card issuers on their capabilities to prevent, detect and resolve fraud.

I never have had a problem with the Debit card from BA, that I started using in 1998.

In the last 4 years I have had to get 2 new Discover Credit Card numbers because of fraud.

Triker33 -- I posted earlier that I'd had my BofA debit card hit. And you're right on........I was reimbursed with NO penalty for the full amount that was stolen. And within 2 days. Had my checking acct been overdrawn due to the theft, they would have given me back the $$ they charge for overdrafts. I can't say enough good things about BofA!!!!
