Like Tom N we are also hams. Use 2m or 70cm on the road and to listen to NOAA weather. Never had CB.

Fairly easy to get your amateur radio license.

we're also hams and we monitor 146.52 Mhz while driving but 2-meters isn't anywhere as useful for traffic and road info as CB.

My youngest son and all of his buddys have and use them. They are all 16-17 years old. Maybe they are making a comeback. When I was little everyone had one in the family car or truck

I have one in every vehicle I own---best thing in the world for traffic information and avoiding speed traps. How many times have you sat in a back up and didn't know if it was a duck crossing the road or a fatal crash that kept the road closed for hours?

Yeppers... we have one and use it like the others have posted here. It's nice to know what's causing a slow down or back-up. Ours, too, has the weather feature.

Yep, we use ours whether traveling alone to keep informed or the main mode of communicating when traveling in a group.

Haven't turned mine on in over 5 years.
20 years ago, one would think that it would be standard equipment in all cars/trucks/rvs etc. Now its just a truckers gadget.

I monitor channel 19. While making a living driving, the CB saved by butt many times. There are enough drivers out there who still have them, so it is possible that they will still save both time and lives.

We use ours. Usually to find out what the hold up is if there is a traffic Jam. Road or pass conditions. Also use the weather function.

We are also Hams and ocasionally monitor simplex 146.52. We use our handhelds for backing up etc.
