First of all its my relaxation time. I take every minute seriously. I have never left late but I never leave early either. The campgrounds that have later departure times get first consideration when booking.

It depends on the checkout time and how far we have to travel. As a rule of thumb DH usually starts packing up while I get breakfast ready and cleaning the inside of the TT. We usually try to be out of the site by 11:00 am.

We`re usually out by 10 at the latest. we too mostly go 2-3 hours from home for a 3 day weekend. I like to be home by noon so I have time to unpack the trailer and relax, jump in the pool and anything else.

For me, it depends on the plans for the day. If I'm off to another campground I'll most likely leave a bit early. However if I'm heading home, I take a bit longer emptying the tanks, securing stuff in the camper, etc. so when I get home I don't have to work so hard to get ready for the next trip.
I also DO carry a full tank of water from home with me. I like our water and often stop along the way and will use it. I also will fill up at the campground, but not if heading home. I see it this way; At 8.34 pounds per gallon my 30 gallon tank only ads around 250 pounds, or the weight of an extra person. I'm ok with that.

When traveling I leave early, 0800 regardless of check out time.

When we first started camping, we'd only do Fri-Sun weekend camping trips (due to available time off work/vac time). So, we'd stay until around Noon on Sunday (1pm checkout). Gave us that last bit for a last 'camping breakfast' and such.
Now that we are taking Fri-Mon weekend trips, we find that by Sunday evening, we have done pretty much all there is to do for that months trip and have gotten in the habit of leaving between 8am-9am on Monday morning to get back home. We find that usually gets us home by early afternoon and we don't have to deal with as much rush hour traffic and still gets us home with lots of time to get the trailer parked and unloaded and we can relax before having to face the real world the next day!
We also pack up on Sunday evening and make it so the only things we need to do before leaving is secure the inside of the trailer and hitch up and go. We also like stopping on the way out for a 'home made' breakfast at a local "mom and pop" type of restaurant for the ride home..

We generally stay at COEs because they have a 4 p.m. checkout. We usually pull out between 3 and 4. We don't have a toilet, so don't have to stop at the dump station.
Most of our state parks have a 3 p.m. checkout. Some other local parks have an 11:00. In that case, I usually pay to stay later.
The only thing I do upon returning home is empty the fridge and carry in the dirty duds, so I don't need a lot of time.

Since we almost never check out on a Sunday when lines at the dump station are long, we leave around noon unless checkout time is earlier. That gets us home before dark unless we're far from home.... I have to say we usually leave between 10 AM and Noon.

I am surprised to hear (pleasantly so) so many others also pay for late check outs. I thought I was one of very few. I can't stand having to wake up early and get everything packed up to head out. I like to lounge around and take my time.
