I am just about ready for my 1st pull. I installed a Blue Ox base plate,Blue Ox Alpha tow bar,Added bulbs in the tail lights, and ordered a Brake Buddy digital Classic last night. My questions are, How long will the Jeep battery without a charge wire from the RV? And I am thinking of adding a fuse switch to disable the brake light switch on the Jeep. seems light it would be easy to make a switch my self.

does the key need to be left in the ignition while it's being towed? we tow a 2010 jeep liberty. the key does not need to be in the ignition and therefore nothing is 'on'. transfer case to neutral, transmission to park. as you have done we have a totally separate wiring harness for the tail lights/brake lights. we've towed between chicago and phoenix (we take abt 8-days to make the trip) without ever disconnecting the jeep from the MH or starting the engine for any reason and have never had an issue with the battery running down. as long as you're not required to leave the key in the ignition and turned 'on' you should be fine.

The key does not need to be on, however the Brake Buddy will be pluged into the power outlet that is hot when the key is off.The brake lights will also work when the Brake Buddy aplies the brakes even with the key off, that is why I will need to remove the fuse or install some sort of switch
