I've had a Play Pal account for years. I use it mostly with craftsmen who do work on my rental property. For example, I had unknown company repair broken spring to garage door. He took Play Pal. Keeps me from given my credit card info to strangers.

In fact, in January, I bought 200 shares of EBAY who owns Play Pal. Their stock is doing wonderful, up about 25% since I bought. Play Pal is the part of EBAY that is really growing because people like me and craftsmen really love it. I have never had a problem with Play Pal. I consider it much safer than given a credit card or check. Good luck.

Oh c'mon, Paypal is doing "great" with Ebay because Ebay won't allow you the option of not using Paypal. If you would rather not use Paypal when selling, you're plain out of luck.

I remember when you could use just a money order, but not anymore. Ebay forces a seller to offer Paypal.

It may be an okay service, but when a service is forced on me, I don't like it.

---------------
As an Ebay 'seller' you do have other options for payment from a customer, and as a buyer you do not have to use PayPal unless that is all the seller will accept.

I use PayPal.

I give PayPal a credit card because I'm protected if someone gets my credit card info and makes a lot of charges. If someone gets my debit card info or checking account info they can drain my account so I only use a credit card with PayPal.

I won't use Paypal.
I email the seller and ask if they'll take an alternate payment. Haven't been turned down yet.

I use PayPal and so do my kids (they have their own accounts). I do a couple of things to keep things a "bit" more secure. First, I made a separate bank account to be linked to PayPal. That way, if my account does get hacked, I will only lose the $$$ in the account (and that is only about $30). I also have my "internet" card linked so again, they don't get much if they hack the account. Now this has not happened yet, so all my preparations may be for naught.

Ditto. I always feel safe buying using PP. I did have a problem once when I bought something and PP refunded my money after hearing what happen. It was a scam out of china. I thought I was buying from the states.
