i'll be getting a new Windows 7 desktop in a couple of weeks and am seeking the group's advice. and no, i don't want a Mac. ;o)
we have a pair of iPhones, one 4 and a 4S. our contact list and calendar are backed up in the cloud so a change made to the contact list or calendar on one phone is automatically sent to the other phone. what i'd like to do is install a windows-based calendar and contact list on the new PC and have it update the cloud automatically and vice-versa. anyone aware of a windows application that can do that? i know that later versions of Microsoft Outlook can sync the calendar and contact list with iTunes but that means syncing the iPhones manually. suggestions appreciated.

that looks like precisely what i'm looking for. of course the devil will be in the details but i'll give it a whirl. was going to get a new-er version of MS Outlook anyway as i'm still using Office 2K.
anyone...any other suggestions in case the iCloud doesn't work out?
We use Cozi. It has a shopping list and a calendar that syncs to apple products, androids and pc. Both are very convenient and well organized. No contacts though.
It is possible to sync the Iphone with Mozilla's calendar called Lightening which is an add on to the Thunderbird Email program. There is a lot to be found on this - just do a Google search on synching Iphone with Lightening.
Win 7 does not include email software. So you are going to need to get an email client anyway for your Windows 7. The new MS Office coming out will be cloud based so you might want to keep your Office 2000. Despite claims that it will not run on Win 7, I have it running just fine.

i WAS considering a switch to Thunderbird but thought it didn't have a calendar function. we use Outlook's calendar/task functions quite extensively and really want something that can perform those functions. didn't know about 'Lightning'...i'll check it out.
i was planning on using OpenOffice for word/excel functions but i'm glad to hear that Office 2K will run on 7. thanks for that.
Thunderbird will support Google calendar through lightning. Maximum PC recently had an article stating Thunderbird was being phased out support wise. (No more major new features, just security & bug fixes.)
