How exactly does that improve your chances of making it through a violent storm?.....

That my friend is what is called humor. I've been RV'ing for eons and old enough to know when to get out of the rain. And actually do not need to watch the weather on TV to be safe.

The post and picture was about the insanity of turning on the TV and watching a weatherman fumbling around with an iPad during a weather report. IMHO and the jist of the post is everyone has their nose stuck in an iPad nowadays and then to turn on the TV and see this was just ridiculous to see. Boy, we sure have become a bitter bunch lately.

When traveling the most important thing is for you to know "where you are". By that I mean what state, near what city, in what county. The warnings are no good to you if you don't know where you are and they tell you the storm is coming through a certain county, and you ask your wife what county are we in? and she says, I don't know, I thought you knew, you could be in trouble. no internet available, better have a map. Just a thought because we were in that position in Iowa a few years ago, lightning and wind storm and we had no idea what county we were in, never again.

I did get the jist of your post though, and yea its pretty ridiculous he is fumbling with an iPad while doing his weather report! I wonder if he was perhaps checking his FB page and didn't even have a weather program up on it lol

Boy do I hear you on that one!

I ran into an obvious tornado with the MH towing and the radio was telling what counties it was heading for. And like you I had NO IDEA what county I was even in and panic was right there to meet me. What a horrible feeling I didn't know if I was heading right into it or away from it. Heck when you are on the interstate heading to a destination sometimes you don't even know the names of the small towns you are passing by.

After almost dieing on that little trip I picked up a US MAP that shows all the counties in different shades for easy quick look for all the states. I highlight the road I am on 'as I am driving' so a quick look will tell me exactly what county I am in.

We don't have to think about it when we are driving around where we live. And when you start RV'ing away from home you don't think about it until it's too late. There should be a little reminder printed somewhere in the MH owner manual.

NOAA weather radio with same technology and the National Weather Service in my laptop. Never used a iPad. I might consider a small laptop.

We have a winner. The screens are computer generated and have to be changed.

I Have 4 weather apps on my iPhone
Weather, that came on it
The Weather Channel
Weatherbug
Weather underground

On my iPad I have the same (except weather) with intellicast SP?

I use all of them during bad weather because one may have a faster map update than another.

I just wish there was a school for those showing us the weather to teach them to NOT STAND IN FRONT OF THE MAPS and for those who make up the graphics explaining when they post in big letters the name of a town right across a swath of the region it is blocking our view of the radar.

I prefer the NWS website and Intellicast's Weather Active Maps.
