RE: Soft spot on floor

I just bought a HTT and noticed that the step was sagging on one side. I think that someone of a bigger stature may have stepped on it and loosened where the floor meets the wall and created a soft spot. I can see where the floor sags under the trailer when stepped on. Could this be possible and how can I fix it? Had this happen on my htt as well. Pulled the step off and found rotten wood along the edge of the camper and under the step. Cut out and replaced the wood, but had a hard time mounting it securely as most of the underbody is foam with about 1/8" of a shell under it. Of course when I drilled the holes for the step bolts I had the step frame just slightly off, couldn't tell except the step wouldn't close as it rubbed on one of the bolts. Had to cut the end of the bolt to allow the step to close. When it was all said and done, the step still felt weaker on that side. i went out and bought a step support from camping world, it extends to 14 or 15" I believe.
