RE: Rockwood Ultra Lite 2604...need info ASAP

Hi all, thinking of moving over to the dark side from our ROO 23SS hybrid. We're looking at the Rockwood Ultra Lite 2604 and need opinions, both pro and con. The model is a 2013. RVW has only 1 in the color we want and it's no longer available. While the world won't stop of we have to go with another interior.....we REALLY want the Seagrass. Help! We just picked up our 2604 from RVW last Wednesday and spent Monday morning moving stuff from our Sunline to the Rockwood. Towed fine, even in a strong cross wind. If you have to order it, expect a 9-week wait. Oh, and I strongly advise getting it with walnut cabinetry. The lighter wood adds to the open feeling the floor plan provides. Teach

RE: Question: Rts. US 35 and US 23 in Ohio

This route was hassle-free. To a city boy, the lights on 23 were few and far between. Most of the miles are 4-lane with speed limits between 55 to 65. Light traffic until you hit the I-270. Teach

RE: Just back from RVWholesalers

Congrats and have fun with your new trailer, its very nice! Where is RV Wholesalers located? You put the street but not the city. Google shows several by that name. Lakeview, Ohio, right next to indian Lake.

RE: LP regulator

You should not never ever smell your propane, period! Well, yes and no. On a hot day, a two-stage regulator may vent some gas. You can smell that. You may also get a whiff when you open the first tank valve. Other than those times, you're right. Propane smell = trouble. Teach

Question: Rts. US 35 and US 23 in Ohio

Sometime in the next month, I’ll be driving to RV Wholesalers in Lakeview, Ohio, from my home in Richmond, Virginia, to pick up my new TT. This will be the first time I’ve driven west of Charleston, W.Va., and I’m looking forward to seeing parts of the country I’ve never seen before. Looking at my hand-held, full-color, flat-screened, analog GPS ( aka.-road map), I see the most direct route is I-64 to Charleston then up US 35N to Chillicothe, then US 23N to Columbus. I have a friend who is a retired Teamster. He said that is the route truckers used before interstates were completed. (Which explains why there are so many travel services to be had in the small town of Nitro, W.Va., on that route.) Has anyone taken this route between Columbus and Charleston? Thanks, Teach

RE: Help finding TT with the right floor plan

I'm asking for help from those who have experience looking for the "perfect" TT. Don't overlook the Winnebago TTs. We looked at the 26RK at a local dealer and were impressed with the workmanship. It has a perfect "couple's" floorplan. Winnebago One Here's a link to every RV manufacturer in the U.S. RVs. Good luck, Teach

RE: RV Park Costs on East Coast

In general, CG's in the South and West are less expensive than around here for all of the reasons stated above. This is precisely the reason why folks who live and work in the Northeast move south & west when they retire. That thudding sound you hear is a nail being hit on its head. Teach

RE: Wiring two batteries together

Hey all, just joined this site.. I am having problems keeping battery life in my travel trailer for more than one day. Agree with previous post. A fully charged, deep cycle battery will give you days of power - UNLESS, something is drawing on the battery constantly at a high amperage or a component is faulty resulting in a high amperage draw ( a binding water pump shaft, for instance). RE: Power tongue jack --Why ?

Makes it way easier and faster to hook up a wd hitch. Manual jacks have such slow gearing it takes a long time to crank up/ down. True that. Cranking the tongue and truck up to install the bars on a WD hitch is made easier and quicker with a power jack. My buddy's Starcraft has a manual jack. He watched me hook up my Sunline with a power jack and now has one on his b'day wish list. Teach

RE: Do I need to ground my 12v batteries to the trailer frame?

... take an ohmeter and take a reading from ground on the trailer frame (bare metal) to the negative of the battery. Should be no ohm resistance reading. I'll buy this if you tell him to first disconnect the ground wire from the battery and make the check between the wire terminal end and ground. An ohmmeter should always be used on an open circuit. His ohmmeter may not have protection against current flow. Teach

RE: Out of RV Loop For Awhile - Need Mfg. Recommendations

I would recommend you set a budget first. How much you want to spend will dictate what you get. Also, make a list of the features you want. Big fridge? Convection microwave? Multiple TV's? etc. We did that and it saved us on one occasion. Make a short list of what's important to you and prioritize that list. Don't be swayed from it, no matter what you look at. That list will be made at home, calmly using reason and experience. At the RV show we looked at the Winnebago One and fell in love with the quality and unique floorplan. Checking or list of the top four things we were looking for, we realized the Winnie had only one of the four in spite of its "sex appeal." We ordered a Rockwood. Teach

Put the stoppers in the sink drains when moving and I bet you won't have the problem.Been there done that. I agree. I bet bouncing down the road is causing the traps to empty. Teach

RE: Camping in the Fla. Keys

Make them now for next year, cancel if you must, but you will save a bundle as compared to commercial CG,s. LOL! You're joking, right? Every campsite that can be reserved in every state park is already booked for next year. The booking window stretches to Feb. 6, 2014. You can't book a site anywhere for Feb. 6, 2014, today.

Camping in the Fla. Keys

I heard getting a rez at a state park is difficult during the winter (snowbird) season. True? Can anyone recommend a good mom-and-pop campgroiund between Marathon and Key West? We have 30' TT and will need W/E site at minimum. Looking at Feb. of 2014. Teach

RE: RV Whosalers in OHIO

In my case, the sales person made specific comments about Wana RV and Terrytown that weren't true. Big mistake. That's "Sales:101" isn't it? Never denigrate your competition; it makes you seem desperate and cheap. I don't blame you for walking. I would have, too. Teach
