RE: Arlington RV Service in RI - Experiences?

I dropped the unit off two days ago with a list of things for them to do and asked them to perform any recalls. They just called and it is all set, they got WH to agree to replace two calipers even though I was not originally on the recall list and they did everything else I asked for at just a little under what I expected to pay. THEY ROCK amd I am psyched that I think I found a place that can be a one stop-shop for repairs.

RE: Generator shutting off on its own

One other thing - the heat and air conditioners are all usually on time delays. One of them may have a problem that is causing a high draw.

RE: Generator shutting off on its own

Is it still plugged in to shore power? If so, there could be a problem with the transfer switch. If not, there could be a circuit problem where something is causing a surge. Turn off all the breakers in the rig and start the generator. If it runs for 5 minutes, turn on one of the breakers at a time for 4 or 5 minute intervals until you find the offending circuit. If it does not run with all breakers off wither the generator or the transfer switch (or the custoff switch itself) would be where I would start.

Trailblazer on a Dolly?

I have a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer (or, my wife does), not the AWD version but the switch-selectable 4WD. My question is, can it be pulled on a dolly? I don't want to put a baseplate on it and cut through the bumper, but I would consider pulling it on a dolly equipped with brakes. I would secure it to the dolly then set it up the same way you would for towing 4 down. Can that be done?

RE: Your most comfortable car

Gotta go with a 1978 Datsun 280 Z Followed with a 1981 F-150 with buckets and arm rests - especially for towing. We could go for miles and miles! Datsun 280Z? You must be kidding that those were comfortable cars. I had one and it seemed you could here every little rock that would hit the bottom of the car and the ride was horrific. Maybe you misunderstood the thread. Most comfortable riding car? I had a 1996 Mustang Cobra Convert. It was a rocket ship, but you could feel the paint of a crosswalk when you drove over it. A squashed frog in the road sent a spike up your spine! Boy was that car FUN!

RE: Arlington RV Service in RI - Experiences?

I bought two motor homes from Flagg and have been happy with the sales and service, but they can't deal with the chassis or the generator. One lingering problem I have is with two jacks not retracting and they replaced all 4 springs - did not fix the problem. They are saying that they now think they have to replace the jacks themselves, I am not ready to fork over 1,200 to do that. I'll set blocks under the jacks and push tem up manually for a while. With one kid's college bills just about over and the second one's bills now due, I have no disposable income any more (I don't have lunch money for crying out loud). I will say this for Flagg - when I had the Hurricane and the walls delaminated they went to bat with Four Winds for me and got the two side walls replaced at the factory at no charge even though the rig was out of warranty. When I had more problems with the Hurricane they gave me a great price on the Itasca and then gave me a fantastic trade on the Hurricane. They treated me very well and I would never steer anyone away from them, but I would qualify my recommendation with a statement that the service department sometimes needs prodding and they can't deal with chassis or generator problems. They were very concerned about my satisfaction after the sale and worried about their reputation when I was unhappy with the Hurricane.

RE: Washington DC ?

We stayed in Maryland, I don't remember the name but I'll look for it. We parked in the lot at Arlington National Cemetary every day and bought passes on the tourmobile that goes all around the DC area. The monuments at night are spectacular. I would plan some time in Arlington to see the changing of the guard and take the tour of the cemetary. We also hit the waterfront in Baltimore one night for a meal at the Hard Rock and some shopping in the area.

RE: Your most comfortable car

I have had a lot of cars in my day. For business I used lease a new car every two years because of the miles I piled on. I have had Crown Victorias, a Cadillac Sedan Deville, a Cadillac ElDorado ETC, a Mercedes E-430, a Lincoln Town Car Cartier and now drive a Chrysler 300C. The least powerful but by far the most comfortable was the Town Car. The best in the snow was a tie between the rear-wheel drive Mercedes E class and the ElDorado. The best overall car was the Eldorado for combination of comfort, power and all weather driving. The absolute worst car in the snow is the Chrysler 300C. If your issue is a bad back and money is not an issue, I would recommend the Town Car and advise that a Mercedes, BMW or sport-touring sedan like the 300C will take its toll on you over a long drive. I also have had a Tahoe, a Suburban, a Trailblazer and a few other cars as our second vehicle. The Suburban is a 1500 4WD currently with close to 200K miles on it driven by my son and it still rides decent.

RE: Found my stolen property for sale on Craig's List

My son had a Les Paul Black Beauty we bought for him as a Christmas gift. He loved that guitar. He joined a band and one of the band members lived with his grandmother, so they all left their equipment at his house set up in the basement where they practiced. Son went to get the guitar one day and it was gone. He asked the kid where it was and the kid gave attitude and said if it was that important it should not have been left there (same thing I said). The kid then told him to get the rest of his stuff out of the house and not to come back. A couple of other things wound up missing, but the guitar was the big item. I went to visit the house four hours later when I got home from work. "Dude, I told your kid I have no idea where that guitar is and I told him not to come back" with a smug smirk that just about set me off. I pointed out that a Black Beauty is a special guitar and you can't buy knobs, pegs or pick-ups for a Black Beauty without giving the serial number and the worn parts because they don't want people buying cheaper guitars and putting Les Paul parts on it. I then reminded him that the garage bands that played the local "shows" all knew each other, and I was pretty sure that there were not many Black Beauties on the circuit. I told him that the guitar would be covered under my homeowners, but since I had a 1000 deductible I would first offer a 1,000 reward for the return of the guitar. I explained that if it came back to me and I found out he knew who had it or had anyting to do with the sale of it, I would personally rip his arms off and beat him senseless with them. My son said the vein on my forehead that popped out as I made the statement was pretty convincing. We then headed over to the police station to report the theft. Just as we were getting ready to leave my son's cell phone rang. "Hey dude I found the guitar in an upstairs closet!" The cop thought that was pretty funny (I told him exactly what I said) and he went to the house to pick up the guitar for us. He read the kid the riot act, took the guitar and told the kid that he'd be watching him from now on. The rest of the kids in the band wound up getting their stuff out of there and there were a few items they never recovered.

RE: Total Rebuild of a 1979 Dodge Class C

It is possible the hits on your card are holds placed when they inquired about the card status. Those holds should clear in 48 to 72 hours, depending on the card processor and the bank's policies. If they do not clear in 72 hours, file a dispute asap with the bank.

RE: Arlington RV Service in RI - Experiences?

The amount they quoted for normal chassis LOF service is a little more than Ipaid the last shop and the amount they quoted for the generator service seems a little high, but not so high that I would consider driving to two different shops to get some coach work and some chassis work. I have a seal on the slide that needs to be replaced. They are not the only one-stop shop around, but they are the most convenient one. I am just looking for responses from people who have used them. It seems to me that the two who used them are happy with the work, they just can't state anything about pricing. I can comparison shop the pricing but the satisfaction of the people who have had work done is the feedback I am looking for. I have had experience with a good repair facility for the coach but that shop can't do the chassis. I'll use Arlington when I have chassis and coach work, and the other shop when I have just coach (unless Arlington blows the other guy out of the water with quality and pricing). I tend to look for a good deal, but am willing to pay a little more for better quality control and customer service.

I'll join the chorus and say Thanks to your son for his service, and Thanks to you for raising a true American Patriot and hero. Prayers have already been sent for a safe and speedy tour.

RE: Jay Leno back in old time slot

Leno is so unoriginal, yet refuses to acknowledge that his "bits" are variations of what others do. His "Jaywalking" is a carbon copy of Stern's "Homeless game" and his "work for your plugs" is a copy of another Stern game. I guess when you hire one of Stern's staffers to write for you some of the segments are bound to be familiar. I also think his "green car" segments are lifted from a show in the UK and he copies a lot of Letterman's routines. I think his statement that he would only go back to 11:30 if it was okay with O'Brien and then going anyway shows that he has no integrity, and the shtick that his moves were at the insistence of NBC brass are the "poor me, I have been moved all over the place" line of hooey he wants people to believe. The local news programmers were responsible for his demise in the 10:00 PM market because he gave them no lead-in, and they in turn gave Conan no lead in. The reason the Tonight Show under Conan did not do well was because Leno drove everyone to a different network at 10:00 PM. Studies show that the 10-11 PM show leads in to the local news segment with something like an 85% "loyaty" rate, and the number of people watching Conan was actually BETTER than prior studies. If more people were on the channel to see the promos for Conan, they would have stayed. Leno killed the lineup from 10:00 PM until the early news on almost all the stations.

RE: Workhorse Brake Recall Status

All I know is that I have experienced the soft brake pedal and now have an ABS light on all the time. I called WH several times and have called NHTSA and several Workhorse authorized centers and they tell me my 2004 is not on the list. I only had the problem once, have not changed anything (including brake fluid) and I have driven short distances with no further issues. It amazes me that the NHTSA is so impotent in this. They are jumping all over Toyota right now yet they know there is an issue with these brakes and they say "nothing we can do about the problems". Wait until one of the campaign motor homes loses its brakes and a presidential candidate wipes out a family of 7 in a mini-van and the NHTSA will be all over it.

RE: Arlington RV Service in RI - Experiences?

2 recalls for now, the instrument cluster and a retainer clip. I also have had an issue with the brakes but there is no recall yet for that. Other than the two recall notices, I want to get the regular LOF and genset service (oil, filter, etc.). I've been changing the oil and filter in the gen and chassis myself three times a season (April, July, September) or at 2500 miles, and I've been bringing it in once a every 7500 miles for LOF and Allison check ata Workhorse authorized service center. That center is no longer Workhorse affiliated, so I need to find a new one. This dealer is authorized for Workhorse and they sell the Itasca line, so I can get all service done in one place if they are a good establishment.

Arlington RV Service in RI - Experiences?

I am looking for a new service center for my Work Horse Itasca. I see that Arlington RV can service both the chassis and the coach. In the past I had to use the RV dealer for the coach and a Work Horse authorized center for the chassis. I have issues with both the chassis and the coach parts, so I am thinking about driving a few extra miles to get it all done at one place. What experience have people had at this shop?

RE: Hall of Fame

We were in this area last summer stayed at Evergreen RV Resort in MT. Eaton. This campground was beautiful and everyone was very friendly. Indoor pool and large very clean laundry room. You are about 50 miles from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We also went to the Football Hall of Fame. You are in the Amish country so there are several things to see in Mt Eaton. Thank you. I will look into this campground. I don't pull a toad, so I'll have to rent a car when I get there.
