RE: Savannah. Go through or around?

Like Roadpilot says, go around. The traffic through Savannah is getting terrible.

RE: Looking for snow...

You should have gone to Broughton Street last week. I think you can find some help in the yellow pages under Physicians and Surgeons- Psychiatrist. Just kidding. I think you might have to go further than N.C. to find any snow. Good luck.

RE: Need hotel in old Savannah

jambo it is right next to City Hall over River Street. Try to get a room on the back side so you will be able to see the big container ships coming and going on the river. It is in old Savannah.

RE: Christmas City, Ariton, AL

I went there about 10 years ago. It was amazing. I'm sure they have added more lights and stuff. You definitely won't be dissapointed.

Many Nice Rigs Heading South

I just got back from a quick trip to Syracuse, Ny area and noticed a lot of really nice rigs, and some not so nice, mostly heading south. Very few going northbound.I guess the folks that are snowbirds are on the move. To the folks on the move, have a safe trip.

RE: Going to Savannah

#1, Don't go to Paula Deen's if you don't like canned vegetables. The meat is comparable to a truck stop restaurant. Actually I've had better food at many truck stops. I've been several times and it's not worth the waiting or the price. It's not formal. If you got the money and time she'll serve a street bum. Mrs Wilkes on Jones street is a good place to eat, but the prices are pretty highcompared to 15-20 years ago. If you like barbeque go to Walls BBQ. It's on York Lane, kinda hard to find.
If you have a few extra dollars to spend find one of the bed and breakfast inns downtown. There are several of them within walking distance of some of the attractions. I like walking around the Colonial Park Cemetery. And St. Johns Church is a site to see. Refurbished a few years ago, it's a most beautiful church. It's open to the public. Just get a tourist brochure. Also be warned that the police have been giving out tickets for jaywalking and failure for pedestrians to yield to cars. Pedestrians don't have the right of way. Any more questions I might be able answer let me know.

RE: Where do you store your outside rug/mat?

I use a big black trash bag and tie the end. If you mat isn't too big you could use an old bag that foldable chairs come in. I put it in the back of the truck or on the floor of the TT.

RE: End Of Camping Season

Down here in south Georgia our camping season never ends. Well maybe in July or August when it gets too hot.

RE: Pass Through Storage Ideas

I use the kind of bins that are made to slide under a bed. It has small wheels on it. I can get them out very easy and use them to push the other one to the opposite side of the passthrough. My storage compartment is not very tall so I can't stack them.

RE: Delta/Montrose CO area

Last year DW and I rode by Highline State Park while on vacation, about 5 miles from her parents, just north of Loma, in the Fruita area. It looked real nice. A nice lake and shaded sites. I don't know if that would be in the area you're looking for. Just a suggestion.

RE: Sports Bar suggestions in Savannah/Tybee Island

I just saw this but at the turn-off to Skidaway park is a place called the Baja Cantina. It's a small sports bar within walking distance of the campground.

RE: Favorite Savannah Georgia campgrounds

Bellaire Woods (Savannah Oaks now) looks pretty nice. It's close to I95 and places to eat and a Walmart at 204 & 17. I live only about 5 miles past there and I see plenty of large rigs parked. Just be careful of the slides and trees. It has lots of trees. Enjoy downtown Savannah.

RE: Campground near Savannah

Savannah Oaks would be good for a one night stay. It's only about 2-3 miles west of I-95. It's at the Ga Highway 204 exit. I live 5 miles west of it and go by it every day. I just called them and they said the pool will be open until Labor Day, maybe a day after.

RE: Old Susannah

That's funny. I actually have an old tattoo on my knee. It's a banjo with the Alabama state flag in the round part. I am from Alabama and I guess I have an outhouse on my knee.
