RE: Ford's 6.4L diesel

Oh my god what a difference after that accident! I cant believe how much better this truck is without that device and on the lower HP setting. Ma better set that date for me because this thing is staying off my truck.

RE: Ford's 6.4L diesel

I have ready many negative issues with the DPF and that is one major one to me thats why My truck is about to have an accident and the dpf is going to fall off! I'm pretty sure such an "accident" would make you eligable for the death penalty in MA... you might be right, but ill take my chances!. My pipe and tuner is on its way here, hope it does what everyone claims.

RE: Ford F-350 Diesel

what is your buddy driving that he gets 17mpg while towing a 5th wheel? I dont get that when empty on the highway, most i have seen is 16mpg empty.

RE: Ford F-350 Diesel

Sounds like you need a crew cab, i didnt but did need a long bed. However i was shopping for used so that did limit my choices unless i stepped up and bought a dually. If you are purchasing new then get the crew cab in a 8' bed! i dont think adults would be comfortable sitting in the back seatish spot in my truck for a long trip.

you can tow a 5th wheel with a short bed and i believe fords crew cab short bed is almost 7' long. I bought a super cab with 8' bed, didnt really need a crew cab as it is typically only myself with the wife in the truck since our daughter now has her own wheels.

RE: Ford F-350 Diesel

Dont believe any of these people the ford diesel is horrible, just ask all the dodge guys on the other ford posts...lol Sorry i had to get that out of my system. I just went from a 1/2 ton gas to my f350 and it is my daily driver with my commutte being 146 miles a day. I get about the same fuel mileage, 15.8mpg and although the truck is stiffer i have zero regrest. Currently have put about 4k miles on it,bought it with 19k and it was a leased vehicle with one update on a radiator hose.

RE: Ford's 6.4L diesel

from what i read it isnt exactly an issue with the cummins engine, but more so a dodge issue where the insulation catches on fire. HUH???? What ARE YOU talking about???Never, EVER since I have been a Dodge Cummins Fan since 89 have I HEARD OF SUCH HOGWASH!.. Before you spoke maybe you should have read the post about the posible lawsuit going against dodge with cummins engines that tend to catch on fire. I didnt post it and if you have owned dodges since 89 then i guess you are used to issue. Seriously read a couple posts above mine, it contains a link to a lw firm. I didnt post it, but was actually defending cummins. The engines are the best diesel out there no doubt.

RE: Feedback Requested on 2008 Ford F-350

Yes, hearing that prior to my purchase wasnt helping my decision to buy, but i have been told by many mechanics including an indepentdant that it is about 3 -4 hours to remove the cab.

RE: Tundra or Titan or Dodge?

the only issue i see is still going to be cargo capacity, as even at 1000lbs of tongue that will be on an empty trailer. Then ad the hitch into the truck and load up the family and your over the trucks cargo rating. Dont get me wrong, i towed my trailer with a 5.7 tundra for a year and its tongue weight is about 1000lbs. i was overloaded when i brought my harley in the truck, but that 5.7 just seemed to have no issues with the weight.

RE: Tundra or Titan or Dodge?

I just stepped out of a tundra, plenty of power to pull....but falls short on cargo capacity just like most 1/2 ton trucks. Seriously look at 3/4 ton trucks if you are considering a 5er with a pin weight of 1600lbs as that could easily become 2000lbs. The titan does remain a little weak with the dana 44, but i recall it having somewhere around 3:3x grearing which does keep the pinion slightly bigger than if it were 4:10's. either way it would be nice to see them stuff a 60 under there.

RE: Ford's 6.4L diesel

i would have bought a cummins again, but they keep putting them in dodges.....just joking. Seriously, i sold a new tundra for this ford, when i bought the tundra i heard how great toyota was and what a surprise it had as many problems as my prior dodges. I stated before that i fell all the new diesels are having issues and to me it was only a matter of finding the one i liked and not the name under or even on the hood. If Ford's 6.4 was that bad wouldnt there be some recalls going on and maybe lawsuits? Most of the problems that i see on the ford sites are with trucks running mods pushing 200hp or more addtional ponies, somethings gonna fail eventually. I had a 95 CTD 3500 years ago and went through lift pumps, trannys and numerous other items. The engine ran great when i sold it at 277k miles, i just couldnt take anymore of the other items that kept failing. I have no intention of keeping this ford past 150k miles, so if the engine fails before then oh well.

RE: Feedback Requested on 2008 Ford F-350

Have an oasis report done, if this is at a ford dealer they can provide one and it should show anything that the truck had done to it under warranty. Sounds like the same truck i bought last month only i had 19k miles at time of purchase, now has 24k and so far zero problems.

RE: Ford F350 10,000# GVW option?

my registration has nothing stating any weight for the truck.

RE: Ford F350 10,000# GVW option?

I checked with my neighbor whom is a Ma state trooper and there is nothing wrong with my paper work as it is not registered as a commercial truck. He wouldnt even look at the door tag as basically has nothing to do with my standard registration. Every state is different.

RE: Ford F350 10,000# GVW option?

Did i somehow avoid an extra charge by transfering my plates from my old 1/2 ton to my current 1ton? if i did im certain ma will catch up to me shortly.

RE: Ford F350 10,000# GVW option?

hedgehog... i recently purchased my new/used f350 and transfered the non commercial plates form my prior 1/2 ton and nobody questioned it. The only issue i had was when i went down to get an inspection sticker and had to go where the big rigs go. Apparently in Ma if your GVWR is over 10k you must pasy $60 for the same inpsection that i used to pay $29 for. Being my truck is 11,400 i dont see any way around this.
