RE: OBX Cape Hatteras KOA in late June?

Depending when in late June you go, we may see you there!
We are headed in June 22nd, staying through the 29th.
I'm hoping the rebuild will be mostly done by then, as I have been reading some "less than good" reviews lately, because of the reconstruction.

RE: dual pane windows & weight

If the upcharge for dual pane windows is worth keeping out the noise, then do it.
Yes, they help with condensation, but add no thermal value. They are NOT THERMOPANE windows like your home, they are dual pane glass.
If you are going to live in it year round, and are staying in the colder climates during winter, it may be worth the price. Otherwise, you will never know the difference, and paid for the option.

RE: Route from Spring Grove, Pa to Hickory Run St. Park

Take Rt 222 to Route 61 North, just above Reading. Then take 61 North about 10 miles until you get to I 78. Cabela's is also at the exit for I 78. Take 78 East and then when 22 and 78 split, stay on 22. The turnpike (476) is the second exit on 22 after the split.

Central PA to Cape Hatteras, OBX

Having done some Mapquest routes and Google maps, what is everyone's opinion on the best way into Hatteras?
I'm not worried about getting down on 95, as I will most likely come in behind Washington, and miss the mess.
What I am concerned about is around Norfolk and Virginia Beach. The route that takes me that way looks like it has you go through a bridge/tunnel. Any problems there? That will also run into the northern section of OBX, around Kitty Hawk.
How about staying inland, on 95 further south, then cutting East? I think it looks like 64? may run east from 95, then out onto the OBX.
All suggestions welcome.....

RE: MAX BRAKE CONTROLLER

I have one too, and it could even be the pressure sensor gone bad, where it converts the hydraulic brake pressure into the electric signal.
If that is bad, the controller may think it should be on.......

RE: Advice needed on after market Automatic levels

Find another dealer they are giving you a load of baloney- shop around-we checked 3 camping worlds and local dealers and one of the camping worlds came in the lowest cost for us.
You have a motorhome...totally different animal!!!
There are a few aftermarket systems available for towables, but the problem is the Silverback framing. If you get the factory installed levelers, they are extra braces and gussets on the frame. To do it aftermarket voids the frame warranty, and not many dealers are going to tackle that job.

RE: 5er trailer plates

In PA if trailer is 10000 lbs and over gvwr you can get permanent plates for $135. Smaller trailers pay $12 per year with an option for a 5 year renewal for $60. You would think there should be a little price break but this is PA the land of taxes.
and they don't tell you that the permanent plate in NON transferable.
So, it's ok if you are never buying another trailer....

Cape Hatteras area???

Was there as a kid, and now I am looking to take my family down next year.
Any recommendations? I am a KOA member, so I know about the KOA there, but I'm looking for real world input.
I also will need 50 amp, full hookups and enough room for a 36 foot fifth wheel and crew cab longbed truck.

RE: 3 slide with 50 Amp & 2nd A.C.

Bill,Maybe you are thinking of the LaCrosse 322RES, not the 327RES.
The website shows a new model not in the brochure:
Prime Time LaCrosse 327RES
This model is the only LaCrosse with a bed (not a wardrobe) that slides. Also has an option for dual air conditioners with 50 amp service. Also check out the 12 cu. ft. refrigerator.
I don't like the laminated floor, but that is getting more common and harder to avoid. I like the 311RLS, but I may have different wants than you.Are you OK with looking at the TV with it on an angle, instead of the TV directly facing the chairs and/or sofa?
Happy hunting..........................
==============================
Ah you're right. We went and looked over a LaCrosse the other day. They changed the exterior pass through storage. Now it only opens on one side not both. We called LaCrosse and they want $2000 for a 2nd air conditioner. I told them no way ....
We were quoted $38893 for the trailer plus $2000 for the A.C.
plus $755 transportation
plus $850 prep charge
plus Michigan sales tax 6%
plus $200 license tag
plus $190 for something....
I told them to forget it as that unit was way overpriced....
So I'm still looking.
Found a Flafstaff V-Lite Model 30RLSTA and a Starcraft 346RESA also a Keystone Cougar High Country 321RES. Though I'm a little leary of Keystone after the many complaints I' heard about their product.
Thanks for the info.
Those numbers have to be full blown retail....
I sell Lacrosses, and there isn't any model that sells for over $29,900 at a "selling" price. And that includes prep and destination/freight.

RE: Outback Terrain

The Terrain is a lighter version of the Outback. They share similar features such as the front cap, crowned ceilings, etc.
They are almost a cross between the Outback and Passport, as they do use the cable slides and some other framing features. They average 800-1000 lbs lighter than the comparable Outback model.
They also use 2- 20lb LP tanks instead of the 30lb tanks on the Outback.

Trim out the lid where you need the wires to go with a saw or snips.

RE: Just a thought...

I know that this is the 5w section, but we have several brand new Winnebago motorhomes at work that are using the Schwintek slids on full wall slides.
So far, no reported problems at all...and these are 30 foot slides, with kitchens.
Could be the wsy some builders are installing them????

RE: Having RV 12 Volt Electricial Problem

For $60,000 plus one would expect an owners manual that wou.ld help with this problem
What makes you think he has a $60,000 plus unit???
Great help right there....
Anyway, as others have mentioned, if it is a Keystone product with a remote control for awnings, lights, stabilizers, etc, if you use the remote to turn the lights on, you need to turn them off with the remote.
The remote precedes any manual switches, and the sytem is direct wired into the battery.
Is that clearly delineated in the Owners manual?
No, it's not.
Keystone puts out a very general "Keystone RV Manual" for all their lines.
They don't all have remote controls......so no, it's not in the manual.
