RE: To dump or not...

We dry camp the first weekend of May every year for opening of pike season, Usually 4 days. Ill dump the gray water in the home made leeks bed we made but hold the black till after memorial day. With just the 2 of us we never fill the tank and i don't fill like driving to the truck stop for not even half a tank. I just add extra water when we head home and when we get they the next trip. Been doing it this way for the last few years with no problem.

RE: Ok I'll admit it I need help with this inverter.

If you want to avoid adding another breaker, add a switch between the current breaker and the converter. This will allow you to shut off the converter when operating the inverter, and still have whole house dist. You will probably also want to shut off the breakers for the water heater and air conditioning just to make sure they are not accidently operated.
What type of switch would i need?

RE: Ok I'll admit it I need help with this inverter.

Okay i found the breaker utility, converter. When i turn that off and have the fridge on gas only it will work but i only have power to the outlet by the stove and no where else. The 2 6v I installed when i brought the camper in 2010 and have worked good for the 3-4 days at a time dry camping i do. If i need to buy something different thats not a problem. Im just learning as i go. The 1000w inverter was something i got a good deal on. I figured id go a little bigger then needed then end up wishing i had gone with that.
yup, that's whats typical. In order to meet wiring code with the number of breakers allowed on a 30A trailer panel (5 unless you have load shed devices to keep the number of active circuits to 5) typically the GFI outlets are on one ckt. that's the stove. The other 120V outlets are on the SAME circuit as the converter. Add one for microwave, one for AC, one for WH and your at the 5 breaker limit.
when you turned off the converter, you also turned off all the other non GFI outlets.
you'll either need to move the converter to it's own breaker leaving the other outlets on the original breaker. yes, it's against code, but I'm sure lots of folks do it, myself included.
you'll likely find that what is on in your trailer as you describe it is the Kitchen circuits, bathroom outlet and outside outlets. Those are required to be GFI outlets, are usually on the same breaker.
Thank you for the info. I had pulled the panel apart yesterday and looked at it. after seeing all the wires and everything i decided it was time to put it back together and do i little more research and talk to a few more people before i went any further. Now if i was to put the converter on its own breaker how would i go about that? Just run the black wire that comes from the breaker right now and move it to a new breaker or would i have to do something different.

I double checked that. I plunged by charger for my cordless drill in and it worked fine.

Ok I'll admit it I need help with this inverter.

I finally bought an inverter. I got a Fusion power 1,000w. I've used 1-0 battery cable right to my 2 6v batteries, the cables are maybe 4'. I was hoping to just plug my sore cable into and call it good. When i plug it in i get a OPP on the display. I looked in the book that came with the inverter and it says short circuit and to manually turn off and on. I've tryed that and got nothing. Im wondering now if i didn't go big enough. All Im looking to run is my outlets and tv and a fan or two and possible awning lights.
