RE: snow snow snow

Spent last night turtled with 5 yr old and 18 month old. No heavy condensation to speak of, but likely because the tents were closed. Bailed to my mother's house early this morning, as was the weekend plan. What wasn't planned is the spend-the-night at mom's tonight. Driving was bad enough with 8" this morning. I used a stepladder and push broom to clear the roof this morning. Will drive out to campground tomorrow early afternoon to brush the rest off, and try clearing some of it from the front of the trailer so I will be able to hook and leave on Wed. I'll try to post a photo or two tomorrow.

snow snow snow

Hi guys. I have been in Northern Va for almost a week now and have been "turtled" or living in the middle for the week. I have work here and family here. My wife and children (5 and 18 months) arriving tomorrow for the weekend. Snow is in the forecast, and with them coming I need to drop the beds. Any thoughts on managing the 5-10 inches of snowfall that is expected?

RE: Pecan pie recipe

same recipe... but add 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp vanilla ... salt gives it the Stuckeys pecan roll effect. You will likely need to cover the edges of the crust with foil after 30 min ... mine usually take 60 min to fully cook, but we use deep dish

Ohhhh Bummer

So we got this wicked nor'easter raising havoc here for the past 36 hours. I decide to go out back and look inside the 2008 Jayco (took delivery Oct 14, 2007). Ugh water on the floor. Dripping from the light fixture. I suppose I will be calling the dealer tomorrow.

RE: AC hold down bolts

Thanks for the responses. I tightened as much as could by hand without the ratchet. I appreciate your input. I just did not want to kick myself should a leak occur.

AC hold down bolts

I was just puttering around doing PM on the trailer today and I figured I would check the AC mounting bolts. I put a 5/16 socket on a 6" extension (no ratchet) and found I could easily tighten the bolts by hand. Should I put the ratchet on the bolts and put another 1/2 turn on them? A full turn? Or leave them be right there? I could only see 2 bolts without removing the entire plastic interior housing (where the switches are attached).

RE: Cooking and Baking with a Conventional Oven in a 23B

We have a 2008 Jayco 19H. The center of the oven, where the burner is will get too hot and burn the bottom of cookies, biscuits, etc. One tip we have learned here is to use a stone or tiles to evenly heat the oven. We haven't tried it yet, but we did buy a perfect fitting stone at BB&B this weekend. It is an Oneida 15" x 14 3/4". We were worried we would have to stow it wrapped in a bath towel in a cabinet so it would not bounce allover the oven and break. Nope ... perfect snug fit, will not slide or bounce in the oven. I'll post back when we actually use it.

RE: jayco 22fb questions

Andy, Buy it and pull it, but be ready for what YOU feel is necessary. We have a 2008 Jayco 19H (Hybrid). Our TV is a 2004 GMC Sierra Ext Cab 4x2 with the 5.3L and 3.53 rear end. I'm not sure I would be happy with a larger trailer. This does not change the fact that your experience could be different. For us, keeping 60-65MPH is super easy with no headwind or grade, however with either, the truck gets a workout at 3300 - 4000 RPM, even more at times depending on the situation. Good luck with your decision, I have no doubt that your Tacoma can pull and stop that trailer, but you may not truly appreciate the workout until you are behind the wheel. Good Luck, and please let us know how it works out.

RE: Roo sofa access

That is cool Steve .... Bummer, our Jayco won't do that. I just went out and checked.

RE: Arlington

Bull Run Regional Park I work from home for a company based in Northern VA in Tysons Corner. On the occasional face time visits, I use Bull Run as my home base. It is 14 miles West of the Capital Beltway, and located close to many historic civil war sites. If you enjoy shot-gunning they have an outstanding skeet/trap/sporting clays facility in the park. Good luck and enjoy the trip.

We bought one from rvawningmats.com. It is on it's 3rd season, and looks like it will last for at least 3 more, if not longer

RE: Hybrid towing with Dodge Durango?

We followed a Durango pulling a 23 foot KZ Hybrid several weeks ago. We were pulling our 19H with our Sierra 1500. While we were behind the KZ, two Semi's sandwiched us on I295 around Richmond VA. I felt the 2 semis as they passed us, but I SAW the KZ jump 6-10 inches sideways. So beyond the engine / tranny, I think the aerodynamics of the trailer vs wheelbase could also be a potential issue.

RE: Headed to Cherry Hill this saturday

The National Cathedral is not on the top of most lists, but it is an amazing tour. The architecture and history were worth the time.

RE: Another Equalizer vs ProPride/Hensley question

You should have no problems whatsoever using the Equalizer for this combination. Sure there may be better hitches, then again there are better trucks too. Many of us use the Equalizer with little to no trouble. Good luck with your decision.

RE: Virginia Landing Campground

I'm sorry guys, but I live in Southeastern VA and I have no clue where you are speaking of. We have First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach on the Chesapeake Bay, and we have Kiptopeke State Park on the Chesapeake Bay, across the CBBT on the Eastern Shore of VA. We also have nearby North Landing River Campground in Virginia Beach. Not trying to be overly technical, but I am confused about which area you are asking about.
