RE: Coolant Maint: parts Hoses Thermostat

Roy, one other thing i did was replace the water pump while i was there very easy three bolts. As far as the hoses i went to Napa got my linial footages if wasn't sure took my old hose with me, i did need one 90 degree ell bought a Gates cut off the ends and it worked fine. There may be a situation where you need a drop down size to make connections very easily done slip one hose inside the other with a little white grease and make youre connection, check your clamps make sure they are in good condition and should be good for another eight to ten years. 3708

RE: Tire balance with beads, powder or weights?

Equal, which is powder. I have had very good luck with this method on 22.5 tires but have yet to try it on my car or truck tires only because it is easy to get smaller tires balanced where is 22.5 you have to go to a truck facility or a dealer that deals with truck tires.

RE: Door awning

I'am going to attempt to give you two options, first a possible reason its loose and a person to call who is very good at analyzing your problem over the phone and can get you the parts for Carefree awnings. You probably have a either weak spring or possibly broken on one side can't till with limited information but this could give you the false sense of being loose. When you get that resolved make sure you have the lock in u-shaped attachment on right side of your awning this will help keep things tight while driving. RE: Cummins ISL425???

UPDATE..... They sold the Coach today and there is a bunch more where that came from, but a couple of things i learned from everyone that responded. The ISL425 Cummins is a good engine. I can tell you this when you put a tag on that short of a Coach you take out allot of storage underneath. Thanks to all that responded.....3708

RE: Cummins ISL425???

There's no fluid for the regen cycle - it burns extra diesel. Maybe your thinking of DEF in newer trucks? You will not notice any change in operation during regen and certainly no drop in power. I'am I was. Tks Scott....

RE: Cummins ISL425???

Another question to anyone familiar with this engine does it require a separate fluid for the regeneration cycle? And a question to the seller was is the radiator steel or aluminum? again this latter question could be at the discretion of the manufacturer. Thanks for any replies.

RE: Cummins ISL425???

The chassis maker specs and installs the coolant, not Cummins. So, check with them. One of the many questions to the seller was what color is the coolant this should indicate the type. Tks Brett

RE: Cummins ISL425???

Some follow up questions(no question is stupid i hope) When it goes into a regeneration cycle who is in control it or you meaning is there a power loss could it be going up a grade do you flip a switch does a red light blink at you (I hate dash blinking red lights) wow i'd forgot that 08 was the start of this procedure. #2 question Is this engines coolant the extended or the original green with DCA adds.? Didn't quote to anybody but MM or DD your welcome to respond.

Cummins ISL425???

Looking at upgrading to a newer Coach 2008 with a ISL425, not being familiar with this Engine yet, i would like to hear some feedback on this engine, i presently have a ISC350. We are in the early stages of the talks still shooting pics back and forth over internet but since this is a big upgrade for me your input is much appreciated.3708 2008 CC 37'tag with ISL425

RE: Battery Cutoff Relay ??

Thanks Doug/ Paul for the response i thought for a moment this question was going to go untouched. For me i'm going to jumper the relay to bypass the "salesperson switch" upfront so i can eliminate the black tape on the rocker switch by the front door.3708

RE: Battery Cutoff Relay ??

Normal temp I have 40 years in the RV business and you are the 2nd person that calls it a "salesman switch". NO such name. They are NOT installed for Salesman. They are installed to KILL the 12 volt power for storage. I call mine a salesman switch too. It is a useless appendage. For storage, on the Tiffin line, there is a master cutoff switch in the battery compartment that physically disconnects the batteries from everything. This avoids having the possibility of that relay failing to ON when in storage. I will have that switch by the door bypassed one day to avoid the possibility of turning it off by mistake and causing us to lose the contents of the refrigerator. Thanks Doug/Paul for the response and once again Doug you have come to my rescue on a question that for a moment i thought was going to go untouched. For me i'm going to bypass the "salesperson switch" at the relay so then i can take the black tape off the rocker switch up front.3708 Paul

RE: Who is towing enclosed car hauler behind their coach

On occasions i pull my 22 ft car hauler with various weights of show cars inside. When it is windy i know i get a little tail wag but i can't feel it inside. I use a short 12 inch ball extension due to the fact i have a short tongue on my trailer. I may have 5 ft between the back of my Coach and front skin of my trailer which is not much for tight turns especially on ladder side but so far no problems.3708

Battery Cutoff Relay ??

2000 Monaco Windsor ISC 350 34PBS On a recent return trip i lost all 12V power while Boon docking so not being a electrical Whiz-Bang i pretty much resorted to checking for loose connections, blown fuses etc. with everything tight and no blown fuses i resorted to the salesperson switch by the front door as you enter(Nothing, usually i get a clicking sound in the back at the cutoff relay)so without any power i figured it had to be something simple so i jumped across the three eights lugs at the relay(White Rogers 120-105751-6 coil 120 DC cont.)and i got 12V power so i took the ought wire off the top lug put it on the other lug with the other two ought wires and spent the next month coming home with no problems other than it eliminated the 12V switch by the door which i never use anyway. So when i got home i replaced the WR relay and within ten minutes it got so hot you could not touch it, so i shut things off put all ought wires on one lug eliminating my switch up front and Relay cooled off, here is my questions. 1. Is this relay run this hot( infrared heat gun on relay 220 degrees inside 170 outside)? 2. If i have all my wires on one lug on this relay(eliminating 12v switch up front)which i don't use anyway am i covering up a underlying problem? 3. Anybody else have this problem? Note: Checked voltage and Amps and everything seems to be running with in guidelines.

RE: Tires, 29580r22.5/16 ply

I went with OTR tires, Bridgestone R280 The only thing i had to drop to a 75 in lieu of the 80 series. These tires have been great a little over two years and 30,000 miles no complaints. I want you to put something on good so when i buy that coach from you in two years i don't have to worry about it.3708

RE: Anyone going to Alaska this Summer 2013???

Is it all right to use a 2012 version of Milepost, a used one at that, rather than wait for the 2013 to come out? Does a lot change in one year? Anyone selling? The 2012 version will work fine, the biggest difference is allot of the commercial businesses they make mention of at certain mileposts are gone either due to economy or they just decided to closer up (probably economy) other than maybe coupons or specials offered on pages that might expire the 2012 will work fine. 3708

RE: Anyone going to Alaska this Summer 2013???

A question to all that have traveled to Alaska. How is the cell phone service?? The wife and I have AT&T phones and wonder is we can call back to the "48 states" easy enough. They work from France because we already tried them from there! Anywhere in Alaska our AT&T worked great with the exception of a few times in between small towns we lost some reception but overall i would give it a 9 out of 10. To me the biggest challenge was Canada and a int. plan that didn't break the bank. I completely aborted my data plan and resorted to WiFi when needed, bought into a minimal int.plan for emergency calls which AT&T sublets to Rogers and N.Bell and bought 50 texts for ten dollars(good deal) which amounted to an extra sixty dollars for five weeks three on the way up two on the way back and there was allot of Black Holes with no reception but as far as Alaska AT&T worked great for us.

RE: Anyone going to Alaska this Summer 2013???

You won't regret it but if you are considering 2013 start planning now. This was a trip that was on my bucket list after i retired in 08 but other trips fell into the slot due to fuel pricing but it came to the point that in 2012 we were going no matter what short of eight dollars a gallon. We departed Cent. Calif. day after Memorial weekend and got home Oct. 19th but the only time we were in Alaska was July 3rd until day after Labor Day. We soloed and for us that worked very well(to each his own) but we talked to many people in Caravans and heard no really negative remarks so you have options. My A D D is kicking in so i have to finish this up, some suggestions in no particular order. 1. Get and read the Milepost take it with you it is the Road to Alaska Bible. 2. Don't be in a hurry (SLOW DOWN )or you will tear things up. People make a good living in Alaska especially in Tok fixing peoples BOO BOOS. 3. If you can dry-camp you can save a bunch of money again to each his own. 4. If you go out on the Peninsula which you should try to get away from Anchorage before Friday afternoon or coming back then late Sunday afternoon (Killer Traffic and i mean Killer). 5. If you are a exterior clean freak like i am, you will probably need some counselling prior to going. July can be rainy and muddy and August can be dusty depending on road construction. 6. Watch out for frost heaves these are generally marked with a red flag or cone again Slooow down. 7. Last but not least Remember the further north you go the longer the days, there are days and weeks that never get dark so if you cannot sleep with light go into the Walmart in Dawson Creek get some card board and cover your windows inside and then make sure you have an alarm clock. These are just a few of many suggestions but are some of to me that i would pass on to someone in a short conversation if they said "Hey were thinking about going to Alaska in our RV". Have Fun 3708

RE: 2000 Monaco Dynasty York 34FT FD D/P

I have this Coach in the Windsor model 34PBS but am lacking some of the upgrades, W/D, Hydro Hot but then might have some add-ons which this Coach does not have. As far as ride i am very happy still have the OEM suspension with the tire upgrade(295/80/22.5) which might have been standard on the Dynasty, we both have eight bag air suspension. As far as price i think he is high but you can always come down can't go up. Overall i am very pleased with this size coach and if had to do it all over again i would do it. As far as MPG could not be happier we have a little over 70,000 miles and it seems to be getting better and better. This past summer coming back from Alaska on the Cazier HWY. filled up in Whitehorse and didn't have to get fuel again until 150 mile house. But i would diffently work on the price. But then who doesn't like to buy low and sell high. 3708
