RE: Can I trust that little gauge?????

Post a pic of your old filter when you change it.
This one had 12k miles when I changed it last week. Many of the miles are on a gravel, dusty road though.

RE: Another Dodge Ram Recall

It thought Dodge used the 11.5 inch American Axle? GM and Dodge share it. Has that changed? Just like know about car/truck stuff.
Your right, for the last several years they were the same axle. The 2013 3500 Ram now uses a 11.8 axle, not sure if GM does.
LOL about recalls, ch*t happens for all of them and usually it effects more folks from the top dog.

2 failures in over 300k vehicles is like .000006 failure rate. Even a good civil suit attorney wouldn't bring up that figure.

RE: Can I trust that little gauge?????

At 87k miles I'd say your do for filter #3 :W http://www.genosgarage.com/images/AF-53034249AA.gif width=300
You can get these at Geno's garage for $29
Air filters are pretty important with diesels.

FWIW I paid $145.10 last time.
OBTW it was just the drain and replace ATF and filter :W
It's just to big of a mess in my garage to DIY. That is a really nice feature with the Allison.

RE: How to check for previous "tuner" on a used truck?

Interesting LINK about tuner companies.
I sure wouldn't be investing any money with any of em as IMO they will all be gone in the near future.

RE: The idler arm/pitman arm is bad again.....

LOL
According to the local "know it all GM guy" you have the wrong diagnosis. CAD program says it's really just bad fuel...
Pitman arm reqires the correct tools that most of us shade tree guys don't have.
I myself would have it done as it is not a really a easy DIY job.
Advice from a known problem child manufacture.

They still make Buicks? :h err maybe I was thinking of Pontiac or Oldsmobile. Only the name has changed to protect the innocent.
Pretty sure the Prius is really just a name changer for the Yugo :B

RE: Finally a Ram Hitch adapter

Sure would have been nice if all 3 big companies would have used the same prep package
Right! Then one wouldn't have the "right idea" :B err "built
F--- tough" idea. What's next world peace?
The entire world we live in is about innovation. Some are good and well some like the Edsel just didn't cut the mustard. That is right there what makes the USA great. I understand your comment though, but it's just not possible with our free market system. Good grief a Motorcraft oil filter on my Cummins :E

RE: 2004 Dodge Ram high mileage 24V vs 1998 12V

Auto. No CAT and it will Roll Smoke! New 150psi Injectors and Edge Tuner (older model). Diff is 3.73 assuming they were not changed. Only mods I can tell other than the obvious, aftermarket bumbers and a B&H frame mount gooseneck. Which if I understand, I can simply mount a 5th wheel attachment to it.
Nice deer catcher :B Does it have the winch also?
Should be 325HP/ 600TQ stock but a nice tune will pull down 425 ponies easy with those injectors. Not that your tranny will last though. I run the little tune without any issues as of yet, but I'm aware of the possible problems with the tranny.
Good Luck and please post back your experience towing.

RE: Lowering my 2013 RAM 2500 4WD

You could make a mint on those mounting brackets if you want to...Did your truck have the 5er/GN prep package?
My truck is a 2013 RAM 2500. I think the prep package is only offered with the 3500's. If there's one for the 2500's, my dealer never mentioned it!
Send me a private message with your email address, and I'll email to you the drawings and pics of my mounting brackets. They basically replace the L brackets that come with a universal mount kit. With the universal kit, one bolt goes thru the bed and into an L bracket, the other just goes thru the sheet metal bed. With mine, both go into a 1/2" thick steel bracket.
:B another guinea pig errrrrr beta tester.
I certainly hope you guys get this figured out before the 2014 roll out. I really cannot comprehend what the suit's at Ram where thinking.
My best guess is Fred Diaz is now with Nissan for a reason.
Ahh what the heck, go ahead and send me a PM, and I'll pass it along, if its worthy.

RE: Looking at a diesel, but not sure?????

LOL
Fumoto valve and a couple of tools for the Ram and the bill was about $250 for everything.
Those aren't maintenance items IMO, those are tools :B You'll love the Fumoto valve, real easy to pull a sample for Blackstone labs :B

RE: Lowering my 2013 RAM 2500 4WD

Mine is 58.5" to the top of the tailgate but will squat ~4" when hitched. A DRW 2013 is about the same height but not sure about the squat since most everybody hasn't been able to hitch up yet :E because of the lack of hitches.
The squat factor or final height will be interesting to me as I'm about out of pin box and hitch adjustments. I have heard the 2014 will have rear bags which would certainly help adjust a load or trailer.

RE: Your tow rig

Purchased a scale to manage the pin weight more accurately. Currently there is a 600# box on the rear, that lightened the pin by approx 400#, and had to add some ballast under the bed. All is well.
What?? Do tell :W

RE: Your tow rig

You'll pull that weight easy, the question is will do you have enough drive axle suspension for your hitch weight and what ever is in the bed. As stated the older Mega cabs had those soft spring resulting in low payloads. Without knowing your weights it's pretty hard to give you good advice. Rear axle ratio determines your GCWR or how much it will tow according to the manufacture. Lots of folks tow over GCWR since it's merely a rating, not law. Visit a scale and you'll get better answers.
OBTW no way I would tow 30k lbs even in a new Ram although they are rated close to that figure.

RE: Prius towing a travel trailer? Yes.

LOL Mike
Someone gave you "their" best apology which was really a backhanded slap. Typical since he has never been wrong before. Being called a liar is,well typical from some folks behind a keyboard. Pretty sure they wouldn't say it to your face :W I pity his 71 year old DW.
It's really sad getting old and losing one's mental capacity. He sounds like a FIL of mine before he passed, One big Know-It-All who nobody liked.
Get the Yugo pic next time as I hear they are legal also in your state :B
The name was purposely left blank for forum rules and guesses from those in attendance.

RE: Finally a Ram Hitch adapter

So wait, if you get the 5th wheel prep package, the holes in the bed aren't in the right spot to mount a standard 5er hitch? So they made an adapter?
How did you mount your 5er hitch before Ram offered the adapter?
Well mine has brackets attached to the frame to bolt down my rails to. In other words the bed of my truck is not clean, the rails have been there 7 years now and I've learned to hate them :W
Here is the Mopar take on it.

RE: Finally a Ram Hitch adapter

500 bucks? Good grief. My 2012 I just bought brand new came with a B&W turnover already installed 800 bucks for a companion and I am done.
Well actually this guy got his for free from the dealer, but I heard they list for $500.
B & W is currently working on a companion for the prep package Rams. I sure others will follow suit.
Like I said this adapter is so the owner can use their current standard type hitches like Reese, Curt etc.
Holes in the wrong place, maybe or maybe not. I was reading one members post about the area size spread out over a wider area in cubic inches :H
I'm no engineer but the way he explained it made it sound stronger. Not sure on that one :W
