RE: Aux Fuel tank for Ford F250

I have Transfer Flow in our F250. It is an L shaped 37 gallon tank with the fuel management system. Love the way it works and I don't have to do a thing. The fuel management system automatically pumps fuel from the aux tank to the main tank as you go down the road. It is a pricey solution but it works great for us. http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/i322/Steve_Scarboro/Album%202/IMG_0225.jpg height=480 width=640 I have since changed and cleaned up the mount for the console http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/i322/Steve_Scarboro/Album%202/IMG_0228.jpg height=480 width=640

RE: Do I need a bearing repack?

Steve, Does your Jayco have EZ Lube hubs? Our 2012 SuperLite does, if so it is easy to do. Just follow the process as outlined in the manual provided with your trailer when new. Steve

RE: Selecting a 5ver For Double Tow

Hi, I double tow all the time so nothing neg from me. The only concerns would be, unless you get a very small 5th your going to be too long, and 4000 lbs on the rear hitch will probably be too much. (think hitch weight bouncing up and down on back of fiver) Just out of curiosity have you checked out the toyhaulers? many with or without seperate garage that would haul both your toys, Not to mention the generator and higher capacities than a normal fiver. Launching and retrieving his boat would be fun to watch using a toy hauler LMAO. :B Steve

RE: Selecting a 5ver For Double Tow

That's a lot of weight to double tow. I double tow but with a 14' fishing boat so it only weighs about 1K total. The only trailers I've seen with a hitch receiver installed had a 300# weight limit. I would look at the high end trailers that have a tube frame. Good luck in your search. Steve

RE: CB radio usage

Just wondering if people still use them? If so what channel do rver's use? I use both a CB and a Valentine Radar. CB gives me info on road conditions and location of near by "Bears". Driving without radar is an invitation to get a ticket to the "policemen's Ball". Or you can drive like about 10% of RVers and drive the speed limit:( The primary purpose the 55 MPH speed limit was passed was to conserve fuel not necessarliy for safety reasons. In a theoritical, ideal world where all RV drivers drove 55 MPH, this would make total sense:) I drive 58-60mph when pulling our 5er and 56-57mph when double towing with the boat hooked up behind the 5er. Don't have to worry about cops and tickets at all. Nice leisure fuel efficient drive. We are retired and not in a hurry to get anywhere. Still have the CB I had in my truck at work and do take it when we are on trips. I have it set up so that it comes out easily when not traveling. Steve

This guy took it ALL with him!!!

Yup, saw this combination on SR99 north bound in Stockton Calif today. This guy didn't want to leave anything at home!!! http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/i322/Steve_Scarboro/plane2_zpsdeb9c9e4.jpg http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/i322/Steve_Scarboro/plane1_zpsba4c19e5.jpg http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/i322/Steve_Scarboro/plane3_zpse3a3ca79.jpg Steve

RE: Ford F250 Diesel Advice

Start using google and you will find hours worth of reading on this motor, and all the problems with it. There is a reason Ford and IH are no longer partners, and the 6.0L was the reason. In the years your looking at Ford has to be the absolute worst choice. What year 6.0 do/did you own?

RE: Dealer wants more $$ after delivery! Seriously???

If it were me I would not respond to the dealer. Just go on about your life and enjoy your new 5er. You may have to have it serviced elsewhere. I would forever be mis-trusting of someone who conducted their business in this manner. Steve

Solera Slideout Sleve

Did a search on this product but didn't get any hits. Solera Slideout Sleve Curious about this product instead of slide toppers. Does anyone here have any experience with this product and if so how do you like it and what are the pros and cons of installing these on the slide outs.

RE: Getting out of purchase due to over weight for truck

First off I want to say to the OP, Sorry for your problems and I hope everything works out for you OK. Second, why do so many people here take such joy in kicking a man when he is down? This guy is looking for advise and opinions of a CONSTRUCTIVE nature. All the sarcastic, abrasive, and smart a$$ answers are of no help and only serve to satisfy the posters need to express his version of Nee Ner Nee Ner Nee Ner. Third, Many if not most of us have experience where the salesman gives bad advise just to close a deal. I believe that RV dealers should be responsible in their approach to sales and give a buyer an honest answer. While I do believe in personal responsibility when going through life, we also at times rely on the so called "expert" advise of those we deal with. When that advise is wrong or misleading then the person offering that advise is in the wrong. Just my $.02 Steve

RE: Finally free of the Cable company and Telco!

Good deal Steve. Now what you need to do is ditch the net talk and get a magicjack plus. Its $20 a year and you can use it anyplace you have internet. Then get their free app for the smart phone and you can also use it there if you don't have an unlimited plan. Now what we need is a good way to stream tv. I spent the better part of the day reading reviews on Ooma, Magic Jack, and Net Talk. After all that research I decided on Net Talk. If it doesn't measure up I can return it and try one of the others. Steve

Finally free of the Cable company and Telco!

After a long and rocky relationship with ATT/PacBell I am able to finally free myself from their grasp and without going to the cable company. Signed up with Clear Internet this week and the service is great, more than twice as fast as my 3Mb DSL. Then today I ordered Net Talk Duo to replace the land line. Now I can take both with us and in the areas where Clear has service, (80 cities at this time) I can have super fast internet and our home phone number with us. While doing this it became clear that my old weak router was not doing the job. The solution was an Apple Air Port router. Of all the routers I have used in the last 16 or 17 years this one stands out head and shoulders above all the others. I guess you truly do get what you pay for, at least with home routers. Crazy easy setup, dual band, supports 50 devices and is screaming fast. Steve

RE: Pilot Flying J gas card?

Two questions here, 1.)What is an "Elite" membership, is that a higher level of membership than life? 2.)$.09 discount? Is this something new? Steve

RE: Bugs on the front of the 5th wheel from traveling

WD40 cleans everything and removes the sticky stuff that remains after taking off stickers. I love the way it makes my stainless steel tool chest and kitchen appliances look better than new. Steve

RE: Litigation regarding Ford 6.0 diesel

I got the letter, I love how the attorney gets 12.5 million and the customers get to share 150K. Yeah that will go far. RR I too got the letter. I believe the $150K is to be split among the named plaintiffs who filed suits and not the entire "class". IMHO the settlement is garbage, there is no consideration for the loss in value because of the reputation of the engine and what is offered is peanuts. Though I have not had any out of pocket costs beyond warranty. The lawyers care not what the class members get as long as they get their 12.5 million plus the extra 1.5 million for expenses. The firm leading the action is the same firm who filed and won a class action a few years back with regard to the ambulance industry and the 6.0 Powerstroke, so this is not their first time at the trough. RE: Towing a Trailer...Behind My 5th Wheel ?

You are correct for IL. 60' overall length. 625 ILCS 5/15-107 (C) The second vehicle in the combination of vehicles is a recreational vehicle that is towed by a fifth-wheel assembly. This vehicle must be properly registered and must be equipped with brakes, regardless of weight. Ouch! Wonder how many 14' aluminum boat trailers are equipped with brakes. Interesting caveat. It said the SECOND vehicle referring to the fifth wheel had to have brakes, not the third unit in the combination. It then went on to say the third vehicle in the combination ............ OP you may also want to check with your state DMV for license requirements. Not familiar with ILL laws but here in CA a commercial CDL with doubles/triples endorsement and a current medical card are required to pull double. Steve

Summer trip

Not sure if this is the right topic for my question but here goes, moderator please feel free to move if necessary. This summer we are planning to travel from our home in central California to DWs brothers home in Lewistown MT. From there they will be puling their trailer and we will convoy south to the north rim of the Grand Canyon. Even though I traveled throughout the west when I was a working stiff, I am not familiar with the countryside between MT and the Grand Canyon. I would like suggestions on sites to see and camping facilities along the way. The trip from MT to GC can take 5 days or it can take 7 or 8 days. We wont be in a hurry and want to come down from MT through Wyoming, Utah, and into the North Rim. We can either dry camp or FHU is ok if the cost isn't to crazy. We will be pulling a 34' 5er and my BIL will be pulling a 27" TT. Any help ya'll can provide will be appreciated, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Thanks Steve On Edit: Sorry I thought I was posting to General RV Issues

RE: Extended Warranty on a 2013 jayco 5th wheel

Shop around that sounds kind of high. Also confirm that it is an additional 5 years and not 5 years from the time you take initial delivery. We have a2012 Jayco fifth wheel and elected to not purchase an extended warranty because I don't trust third party warranty providers. Good luck with your new 5er Steve
