RE: Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 2 Tires

Joe, I like the Ground Hawgs over the BFG T/A KO's because of the wide open shoulder tread blocks but unfortunately they were not available in my size & range when I first checked. Would have had to upgrade the van's wiring, amplifiers and get some 0 ohm speakers - LOL!

RE: Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 2 Tires

Joe, I do not question Bridgestone’s sales success but I do question why the Revo 2's do not yet carry a severe rating based merely on reports from tire rack customers while other tires meet or exceed more stringent severe criteria and carry the Mountain/Snowflake?
I needed something that was a big improvement over stock and whatever subjective yardstick the OE Uniroyal’s were measured by, IMPROVED TRACTION IN SNOW was priority number 1, followed by Traction on wet roads, Longevity and how Quiet they were.
Toyo Open Country AT tires that were recommended by our tire dealer were a huge improvement over stock in every category that was improtant to me but the switch to the G.Y. Silent Armor's was the result of a tire test I saw in 06 or 07. Again another big improvement when they were installed.
I still slow down and drive accordingly to road and weather conditions but I will wait for a comprehensive test review on the Revo 2's before I change my mind. If they are better, they will be on DW's SUV.

RE: Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 2 Tires

Sorry, I should have said the Good Year Wrangler Silent Armor tires were the only set of tires in our vans OE size and load range that I had TRIED which came with the
http://www.tirerack.com/images/winter/photos/tech/severe_snowflake.gif
rather than sounding like they were the only tires available with this rating.
There are also some passenger car tires out there with the same severe rating.
After previous issues with the van's O.E. Uniroyal tires that the manufacturer refused to stand behind, I would not buy a set of BFG's, Uniroyal or Michelin's (same parent company in Canada) and IIRC, the WC XTX's are also manufactured by G.Y.
General's were not available in OE size & load range.

RE: Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 2 Tires

My experience with Dueler AT Revo's on the van in the snow was worse than what we were experiencing with the old Toyo Open Country AT's they replaced, so the dealer got me a set of Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor/Armour.
Of all of the All Terrain tires we have had on the van, only the Good Year Wrangler Silent Armor tires have excelled in every condition including towing. It is also the only tire to carry the ->
http://www.tirerack.com/images/winter/photos/tech/severe_snowflake.gif
Mountain SnowFlake symbol on the sidewall recognizing their ability in severe conditions which makes it unnecessary to change to different snow tires where mandated by law for winter.
Cross Terrains on DW's SUV are not bad in snow - so I will certainly watch for the feed back on the Dueler A/T Revo 2 Tires. However the Wrangler S.A. are still top of the replacement at the moment.
Puddle Jumper has Winterforce (installed last week) tires for winter.

RE: Dealer wants to buy my old axles and wheels

On Sunday, I was on my g/wing on I-35 doing about 70 and hit a deer. I managed to keep the bike up, but it has major damage.Glad you are still with us - the bike can always be replaced!

RE: pulling with a van

You left out the E350 van's factory optional Extendable/Retractable towing mirrors,
Optional integrated Trailer Brake Module
Tachometer
and Ford's great looking integrated optional HD (8 bolt) aluminum wheels.
GM was supposed to install the 6 Speed automatic in the 2500/3500 vans for 2010 but GM's website still says 4 speed auto and so does the "build it now option".
Still no tach, no extendable towing mirrors - not sure on optional integrated Trailer Brake Module.

RE: equalizer vs reese dual cam

Had Equal-i-zer and friends have the Dual Cam, both work very well and both have many experienced and satisfied users.
Do they have to completely re-wire the tow vehicle or add a new W/D platform to the tow vehicle because $1100.00 seems like a HUGE mark up to me for just a Dual Cam + Prodigy install!
Phone around a couple of other dealers - if just to make sure your dealer's mark up is an honest one.
Enjoy your Roo!

RE: Hensley Arrow Cover

The CDN dollar isn't doing too badly - so it would would only be $499.99.
BBQ cover with a bungee cord or cut the cover to size and then re-sew (your sewing results may vary depending on sewing machine & needle) to fit properly.
However for winter storage I would remove it.

RE: Tire Wet Look

For the wet look in vehicle showrooms or car / racing shows, I have not found anything better than Black Magic spray foam.
Simple templates cut from cardboard to cover the size of the wheels meant that zero clean up of the rims was necessary after I sprayed the tire.
On past boat, hybrid and current vehicles', 303 Aerospace Protectant.
Specifically designed to protect vinyl, rubber, fiberglass and plastic from sun damage.
That link is to a free trial offer + shipping and no, I am not an employee or spokesperson.

RE: Equal-i-zer Lube and tightness

Our old Equal-i-zer showed the same wear for the first few tows, but more towing miles did not show any significant further wear on the arm sockets. Bought some off brand hitch grease at Wally World and it worked well.
Carry a bag of rags to wipe the mess off the weight bars and your hands if you grease the L Brackets.
No problems with only greasing the weight bar arm socket surfaces that contacted the hitch head and always, always, double check that your snap up bracket is in the trailer if you give it to one of your kids to do.

RE: The best coupler lock for a travel trailer? opinions

If I was that concerned about theft while in storage I would remove the wheels. Then I would worry about someone steeling the brake drum$.
I found our Master trailer tongue lock (used on our race trailer) on our driveway in front of the trailer once, so it did its job and slowed down the thief enough to scare him/her/them off without the trailer.
Master lock replaced the broken tongue lock to match my (keyed alike set) keys - N/C.
We also had 1 howling beagle at that time but I doubt he was any pivotal part of the deterrent :B.

RE: hitch noise

We never lubed the L brackets on our old Equal-i-zer but did lube the surfaces that anchored the weight bars at the hitch head (as suggested by by the EQ owners manual) and it did make a difference in turning noise levels.
Make sure you lube those weight bar "arm socket" surfaces after towing in the rain or they will rust the same as your vehicle's brake rotors and the steel on steel noise will certainly scare anyone within a 1/2 mile - LOL

Did that once as well - but the pantry door survived.
A bit of elbow grease (without removing the door) and the hinges returned to working condition and it NEVER happened again.
