RE: mystery hoses

Thanks all . I blew air into my city water connect and then poured anti-freeze into the hose and again blew it in til i got pink out of all the faucets . Then i filled all traps and the toilet plus with the bit i had left , emptied into my grey and black tanks plus the fresh water tank . As for water heater , emptied it via the drain plug and poured some in there .
Come spring , do i simply open the red and blue lines and flush with the pump and/or city water and do i also leave the drain plug out of the heater ?

Do it now or do it around 4 am when you think it is going to land in the woods . Been there , done that .

RE: Canadian Maritimes Intinerary - Comments?

And i know a few lobster fishermen that maybe would take us out for a trip , but we would have to work the day catching and gauging the lobster , and in the end all we would have is a free feed of lobster boiling in my pot and some mussels to eat but , hey what a time we would have .

RE: Canadian Maritimes Intinerary - Comments?

Traveled from BC to Newfoundland/Labrador last summer.Five weeks in Newfoundland, not long enough.
Going east we passed into the states at Niagara Falls. We mainly stayed on secondary roads through up state New York, Vermont,New Hampshire, Maine and into New Brunswick at St Stephen. Very beautiful and we liked the small towns and all the neat very well kept homes.
We spent time at Sackets Harbour and onto Lake Placid and and a drive to North Pole. Traveled through a mountain pass called Appalachian Gap. In Maine we headed for the coast and found some of the secondary roads rough with broken pavement but the scenery more than made up for it. I would recomend a stop in Lubec Maine and stay at Sunset Point Campsite where you have a 360 degree view of the water and a duck pond with 10 pound rainbows one can feed by hand, no catching. Very beautiful and peaceful spot. Most easterly point in the U.S. From here one can travel onto an island that is in Canada.
Into Canada at St. Stephen, recomend Hopwell Rocks to get an idea of the Bay of Fundy Tides. We now mainly made a fast trip to PEI across the bridge. Fuel up before the bridge, fuel more costly on PEI. Just before the bridge is a small town called Pt. Elgin with a small but nice cafe. Good place for lunch.
Excellent tourest centre on the PEI side of the bridge for information. At Charlottetown we stayed at Vista Bay campsite, rustic but full hookups and awesome views from your campsite because you are parked up a steep hill. Very quiet spot. The island is not very big and we found camping in one spot and daily road trips is all we needed. In New Glasgow we had a great lobster dinner. Forget the name of the place but the tourest centre will have it.
After leaving PEI traveled to Baddeck and went through the Alexander Graham Bell museum then onto the KOA before North Sidney. A nice place to stay and we used it as our base of operations to travel the Cabot Trail. Glad we left our trailer at the KOA as the trail can be quite steep and twisty. The trail can be easly toured in two or three day trips and have lunch at the Rusty Nail on the trail.
One can also tour North Sidney and Sidney from the KOA. On the way into North Sidney get some great chicken and ice cream at Lick a Chick.
We then caught the ferry at North Sidney for Newfoundland, five weeks of awesome travel. Only go to Newfoundland Labrador if you have a month or more. By the way the ferry from Newfoundland to Labrador only cost 48$ one way and we are fifty feet in length.
Well that was our trip in a nutshell and if wanting more specfic information, email me.
Excellent post by the way .... like i said , not much to see on the Sydney part of the island but i do know some hideaways around the island that only the locals know about ( always the way ) like on top of old smokey there is an Iignuckshuk built by a local guy in memory of his father , right where a very bad fire was engulfing the whole of the Highlands in the 70`s where every man and tough woman was deputized to fight the fire before it destroyed the whole of the north of Cape Breton Island ....... more to follow ? lol

RE: Canadian Maritimes Intinerary - Comments?

Baddeck, 2 nights, Baddeck Cabot Trail campground
Sydney, 3 nights, Arm of gold campground
These campgrounds are approx 30 miles apart . I would stay maybe in baddeck a few nights and maybe louisbourg a night to see the fortress . arm of gold is more of an overnight place next to a major highway .

RE: Zephyr Cove RV Park and bears....

Use bear spray and carry a bell or whistle ,also knowing the type of "poop" you are walking in . Bears like berries and small animals .
You should recognize the difference between black bear and grizzly bear droppings. Black bear droppings are smaller and contain lots of berries and squirrel fur. Grizzly bear droppings have little bells in them and smell like pepper

RE: New to RVing and Looking for a new trailer

They are only selling motorhomes i believe but parts are readily available for my rig . Made sure of that before i bought it and of course there is always generic suppliers . I`ve seen posts here about the quality of an ultralite compared to a heavier RV but for the money i paid i could`nt go wrong .
With the aluminum construction compared to steel and wood it tows like a dream without taking out a loan for some fun weekends while getting some looks from owners of ton trucks towing almost the same size RV but weighing in at almost twice the weight !

RE: New to RVing and Looking for a new trailer

Reason i mentioned the model i did was because i have one ( see in sig ) and tow it with a 4.3 chev 1/4 ton . Hills do bother me but i can constantly keep up a speed of 100km until of course i hit one . I do like the floor plan with the bedroom in the back . I know it isn`t a $50,000 RV but i own it and love it for a family of four . It being an ultralite makes buying another truck an option i don,t need .
