RE: Pellet Grill?

I have a Traeger Lil Tex Elite pellet grill & love it. You can smoke meat on it or sear steaks & burgers. Pellets run about 12 bucks for a 20 pound bag and last really well. They come in several flavors also. I love doing briskets on mine. Traeger also make a portable model called a PTG check them out at www.traegergrills.com

RE: I was just wondering (Fuel Question)

All I know is that in Lexington Nebraska last summer (June 2012) we picked up 63 gallons of E85 by mistake that caused really rough running and vapor lock in our old 87' vintage 454. Now, I'm not sure if that "E85" means it's 85% ethanol, but since here in the East, "E10" means 10% Ethanol, I have my suspicions. So E85 must be not much more volatile than Crisco. Modern computer controlled engines may run OK on it but that old cast iron monster in our Bounder didn't like it at all. It stalled every time we came to a stop. The genny hated it. We finally burned out enough to put some Shell V-Power in to counteract it. Once we started putting mid grade fuel in during the rest of our time in between the Ohio River and the Rockies, we were fine. Here in the midwest 87 octane regular has no alcohol, 89 octane has 10% alcohol we call it e10 or ethanol here, & e85 is 85% alcohol only to be used in flex fuel vehicles.

RE: Gonna miss my HD2500 GMC I think

I notice all the mention of 8 and 10 ply tires. Is the industry reverting back to that terminology? To my knowledge there is no such thing as an actual 8 or 10 ply tire on a pickup. I'm oldschool, I know they go by load ratings in pounds now. It has been decades since ply ratings have meant anything.

Gonna miss my HD2500 GMC I think

DW bought her Dad's pickup from his estate & I think we are gonna try towing with it. It is a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie 4x4 Crew Cab with a Hemi, 6spd automatic, 3:92 positraction rearend, tow package with integral brake controller & Rambox storage system & 20" wheels. When she asked if it would pull our Jayco 308FBS 32' travel trailer with superslide I just laughed. Well she said read the book, look it over & see what I think. He had airlift bags installed, & a B&W Turnover hitch installed when he bought it. Today I put 30# in the airlift bags & checked the p-metric 20" tires slid my hitch in & hooked up without the equalizers & anti sway. We headed down the hwy in tow haul mode with a 30 mph wind & was totally surprised! It pulled better than my HD with 6.0 liter gas,4 spd auto.& 4:10 posi. I am going to try to trade off the tires this week for some 8 or 10 plys & give it a little longer trip fully loaded and anti sway & equalizer bars on. If it feels safe I guess I will sell my GMC. Wish me luck!

RE: Cabin air filter ???

The Napa cabin filter catalog lists 4876 Napa Gold or 224876 ProSelect. It will be in position #4 under the glovebox. It also states that only trucks that have dealer installed cabin filters are included. Even if a filter is listed it doesn't mean it has one, my GMC has one listed but does not have one.

RE: GMC spare tire tool

My 04 doesn't have the secondary locking, you just crank it down.

RE: bolt on hitch receiver bumper mount

Camper bumpers are too light to tow from. You would have too install a frame hitch.

RE: Carry out GM 1518

Also with dish net youneed a vip 211 or a vip222 reciever to make the carryout work No you don't. I use an old Dish 300 & it works great.

RE: Tip for Ford Owners or anyone with a transponder key

I bought an extra new one on ebay for the car & had Ace cut it. Since they couldn't supply one they wouldn't charge me.

RE: Taylor Park- Better to approach from Gunnison or Buena Vista

Cottonwood pass is rough & dusty but very driveable. I wouldn't try pulling a trailer thru Pitkin, that is barely a road!

RE: no antenna signal

See if the switch on the booster is turned on, then make sure you have a digital tv or have a digital converter.

RE: Alternator Reliability etc.

Dusty roads can be a factor, I usually blow the dust out a couple times a year. We generally have no trouble with alternators.

RE: Purchase an automatic portable satellite antenna

We love our Winegard Carryout. It can be mounted to a ladder but we set it in a picnic table.

RE: '03 GMC 6.0 alternator?

I would replace the fuel pump assembly with a genuine GM Delphi unit now just to save you a hassle when traveling. I would not worry too much about the starter & alternator because they are pretty easy to install.

RE: Cleaning GMC fuel injectors?

A 20 ounce bottle of Chevron Techron about twice a year will keep the injectors in good shape.

RE: Just got a chill, WOW!

Well now you did it, we are making plans to go to Strategic Air & Space Museum by Ashland, Nebraska again! We have been there about 6 times and always notice something different each trip. The museum is right next to Mahoney State Park so it is a good excuse to go camping.
