RE: 1T Pickup special rules and regulations?

It's true - a 9000 pound weight and 45 mph speed limit on a short stretch of I35e thru St Paul.

RE: 1T Pickup special rules and regulations?

Therefore, MY plans (insert all caveats about YMMV etc) are: 1) Buy the Chevy 3500 and SMILE when I drive it! 2) Drive reasonably and respectfully not forcing officers to pay attention to me and look for reasons to pull me over 3) Drive my new pick-up like I would a car (obviously paying attention if there are real weight limit signs that do matter, ie - 2000lb axel weight restrictions on a bridge (I doubt I'll ever come across any of these)) 4) Look for an opportunity to stop at a weigh station WHEN THEY ARE NOT BUSY to talk with them and let them tell me again that pick-ups pulling RVs just get in their way if they stop :) 5) Smile and apologize if I am actually pulled over for anything weight related and promise not to do it again Thanks again for all of the responses and info, as with most things in life I believe "Relax and it will work out" applies here too. Ron You have a great plan MNRon. I doubt they enforce the weight restriction any better then the goofy 45 mph on that section of I35 - aka, the practice interstate. Smile like you're driving a car and be confused in the unlikely event of a chat with officer Sven

RE: Think he got a ticket?

I dunno where that came from officer . . . Must of been when I made that quick stop at the light - did you find the other driver?

RE: First tow with 06 LBZ

Perma-grin - a common side effect of towing with a diesel

RE: TX Gulf Coast insects in winter

A steady breeze off the gulf solves any mosquito problem

RE: First trip out this year

Have fun and don't worry - it survived the tow from IN to KY so the bearings passed

RE: Cleaning the outside of trailer

Plenty of extendable water wands available with brushes - add car soap and be safe. No need to be on a ladder. (Says the 6'2" rv owner)

RE: Anyone haul an ATV in the pick up bed

Drive it in, SET THE PARKING BRAKE, add a couple ratchet straps to something solid on the atv (bumpers?) and close the tailgate. Drive into the bed in 4 X 4 or the rear tires will spit the ramps out as soon as the front tires reach the tailgate - I know. Speaking of ramps, make sure there's a couple safety straps solidly connecting the ramp(s) to the truck

RE: how does a 5th wheel track compared to TT

The 5er will track considerably more inside the truck than the TT. Make sure to make those right hand plenty wide or you will jumping curbs. And watch all tight turns both right and left. X2. X3 Don't cut the turns short - pull a bit further into the intersection before cranking the wheel left or right to turn and watch the path of the inside trailer tires Congrats on the new rig

RE: New mpg record for my rig!

Spring 2009 - driving east on I80 thru Nebraska with a 20 mph tailwind. 24mpg on that tank

Yesterday here, Sorry I couldn't resist. http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/7/2/2/7/8/2/webimg/662331818_o.jpg http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/7/2/2/7/8/2/webimg/662331881_o.jpg http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/7/2/2/7/8/2/webimg/662331901_o.jpgThat is just plain mean! May your AC develop an inexpensive yet hard to troubleshoot malfunction. ;)

RE: Snowbirds coming North

We left St Paul this morning headed east on I-94 - counted at least a dozen class A's headed west and most had large enclosed trailers in tow. I assume they're all bring warm air to help melt the remaining snow.

RE: $40,000 question

If a GM, tow package and the snow plow prep if available as it provided dual battery and heavier springs if I recall

RE: Recent truck mods -- ready for towing

That's a great looking installation. I also have the bedrug but cut for the std in bed rails - still works but not as clean as yours.

RE: New truck option/will this pull our fifth wheel?

The duraMax is $7200 and the Alison is $1200. Build your own on the gmc website before sitting with a salesman.
