RE: Trip milelage

Filled up this morning and as I expected the milage was about the same as the last fill. I'm not disappointed at all with the mileage so far. I did have a delay today with a brake maint. light and chime. I didn't have brake lights so the trouble light and chime came on. The usual suspect, the brake light switch was bad. Had to drive the toad for what seemed fifty miles to a Chevy dealer for a new switch. The brake maint. and chime remained on after the change but a fifty foot drive forward reset the light and chime and we were back on the road. Needless to say not very far today. See ya tomorrow.

RE: Trip milelage

We arrived in Biloxi late afternoon. Driving 84 and 49 in Mississippi was like riding a roller coaster. I haven't filled yet so will report tonight. We are on the coast now at a campground just across the street from the beach. Just gorgeous. Last fill with the same up and down was 9.7 so I'm expecting the same. See yaall tonight.

RE: Trip milelage

We are now in Natchez to tour some of the old Antebellum homes. Mileage is still holding up. Couldn't be happier. From here we drive down 84 and drop south to 10 again and stop at the Air Museum in Pensicola. Probably stay the tomorrow night there. Take care Jeff and Ron. Stay safe.

RE: Trip milelage

Ron----being from the west I have never driven in such a messed up and badly engineered freeway system as is found around the larger cities in this state. Exits not numbered when you're off the interstate and the one way frontage roads on one side two way on the other. The shortest on ramps I have ever seen. The engineers must have only gotten a sixth grade education. Thankfully we will be out of here tomorrow. I'll bet Louisiana is no better. We'll see.

RE: Trip milelage

We are in Beaumont Texas for a couple of nights to clean the coach of the west Texas muddy dust. Blowing dust and rain not a pretty combination. The bad news is that driving around the one way frontage
roads and the srcewy on and off ramps trying to get to a place and no help from ***** in the box not to mention the stop and go traffic, we took a hit on the fuel milage. Not bad considering though. That tank came to 7.4. The average is still in the tens. We will be on the road on the second and I'll resume the chatter.

RE: Trip milelage

Well Don today we drove from Van Horn, overnighting in Ft. Stockton, to San Antone. Filled up in New Braunfels and it took 40.53 gals for 456 miles worked out to 11.2509252.
I fill to the top of the neck every time so that's two in a row over 11. I'm here to tell you that there is nothing flat about west Texas. Sixth gear held all the hills except those close to San Antone and then dropped to fifth all but three times and then to fourth. I'm using only Pilot fuel. I do add Stanadyn blue every other tank.
The wind was light today but chilly. I'm going to see about a steering stabilizer tomorrow. Gets a silly sometimes.
More tomorrow

RE: Trip milelage

Getig ready to start the day. The winds are calm and other sun is shinning. I know I won't be getting the same milage but it was nice. I am sticking to the 65mph theme for this trip. As for the terrain between Van Horn and Ft. Stockton. Out of Van Horn a lot of grades but it flattened out about 3/4s of the way to Ft. Stockton. The grades are moderate but noticeable. We stayed over night at a Good Sam east of Ft. Stockton exit 264.
See ya on the road.

RE: Trip milelage

With those famous west Texas winds helped with the fuel reload producing 11.5 mpg. We filled in Van Horn and went on down the road to Ft. Stockton for the night. Happy am I but I know the winds helped. We'll see what tomorrow brings. I'll check in tomorrow night.

RE: Trip milelage

I'm running 65 and taching 1950. I recently had the TCM reprogrammed to turn on the dormant 6th speed so dropped about 400 rpm. Only some 06s and half the year of 07s can be reprogrammed. I'll keep all posted. We realized that we were climbing from Phoenix to where we overnighted. The alt in Mesa is 900ft or so and in Lordsburg NM its 4220. Oh and snowed there about an inch and a half. 33 degrees when we got up. Burrrr. We were going south to get out of this******we thought. See ya on the road.

Trip milelage

Drove from Quartsite AZ to Lordsburg NM. Loaded on 47.7 gal. With the up and down and terrific rain and wind she did 9.66 mpg. I was hoping for a bit better but considering the weather I'll take that for a start. I am totally loving the six speed upgrade. I'll try and post every night until a solid average shows its self.

We'll be there either the 17th or 18th for the RV show. We plan on 4 or 5 days staying at La Posa west. The area just south of the big tent. After that off to Tampa FL. And a good time will be had by all.

RE: Compare C to Super C ride

I have had a 31SS Jayco Greyhawk and now have a super C on the Kodiak. The ride. Handling and overall comfort of the Seneca can not be compared to a C. It's apples and oranges, the Kodiak is so much better. As for the wind noise, I adjusted the doors a bit tighter and all but eliminated the noise.

RE: Transmission cooler

Gale:
The 1000MH trans has no way to switch off tow haul. Like the pickup trans you are able to switch tow haul on off and on. All I can do is switch or lock out 5th.

RE: Transmission cooler

I just pulled from Flaming Gorge Utah to Rock Springs Wyo on 191. I'm here to tell you that that is a pretty good pull. My toad is a ford Ranger with a Can Am 4 wheeler in it. My max temp on the trans. was 184 pulling in third and second gear. On the flats it will cool down to 155 to 170. The truck water temp never goes above 220. Changing gears when you need to will keep things cool.

Hard drives

Has anyone used or are using a toshiba 1tb hard drive with their dish
211k receiver? I have a 1tb usb external HD and would like to use it with my receiver. I am told that to use this HD with this receiver it has got to have its own power supply as the usb port does not carry power. Any thoughts or experience would be greatly appreciated.
