RE: Satellite signal to second TV

Best Buy sells a wireless HDMI Kit for $229. You run a HDMI cable to transmitter, then run a HDMI cable from the transmitter to the main TV. This is a pass through to the main TV. The transmitter sends the same signal to the receiver that has a HDMI cable connected to the second TV. It works but is a bit expensive. It's called My Wireless TV Wireless HDMI Kit.

RE: New Windows 8 Laptop

I don't see any issues with windows 8 being so bad. Just select desktop from the screen that booted up.....you now have windows 7. A lot of folks don't like that there is no start menu. There is. It is all those tiles that were displayed when you booted the machine. THAT IS THE START MENU. What you need to do is get rid of the junk that HP, Dell, Lenovo, etc. put there. Just right click on the Icon that you don't need and select Unpin From Start. Now, you may want some items on the start menu that are not there, such as Control Panel. On the Charms Bar (the stuff on the right side that you get to by moving your mouse to the right upper and lower corners) click search. Type in Control Panel. Right click on Control Panel and select Pin To Start. Now Control Panel is on your Start Menu. In my opinion, Microsoft has always confused things needlessly and has done it in grand style with Windows 8. They probably should have made Windows 8 boot to the desktop and then had this new start menu as an icon on the desktop instead of the other way around. When Windows 95 became Windows 98 I did my best to make Windows 98 look like Windows 95. I decided to give up and just go with it. Now, after buying a Windows 8 laptop, I am looking forward to getting a new Windows desktop.

RE: What's your favorite Country/Western song to Two Step to?

Here is our favorite 2 step song. Any Way The Wind Blows by Brother Phelps. Vince Gill's, What The Cowgirls Do is a good one too. That was a great question, and there are a lot of great answers that depend on your age and fitness level. We are in our mid 60s and have slowed down on the dance floor in the past few years but if the DJ plays Mary-Chapin Carpenter's, Down at the Twist and Shout, my wife will insist that I risk having a heart attack so she can dance to it.

RE: Creating a Video DVD

This works with windows 7. I did it today. Insert a blank DVD in your drive. A dialog box opens and asks what you would like to do. Select Burn a DVD Video. Select the video you want and it burns it to play in a DVD player.

RE: Elio Motors

OP here....Lots of good comments. My wife and I are considering a down payment on one. Our big concern is that it is not backed by a major car company. In 2007 my wife put a $100 down payment on a Smart Car, just like Elio Motors wants a $99 deposit on this car. At least the Smart Car had some history in Europe and Canada and was built by Mercedes Benz. A year and a half later she had her Smart Car. This car is still in the design stage. When she put the $100 deposit on the Smart Car's web site she was 100% sure she would get a car. Our concern about Elio Motors is that it looks like the $100 down is going to pay for some of the startup costs and if they don't get enough orders it might not get built. If GM, Ford or Chrysler had some money in it, we would put a deposit down now. It will be fun to watch, and we may still go for one.

Elio Motors

I have been reading a bit about a new automobile startup in Louisiana. It's called Elio Motors. They purchased a vacant GM plant in Shreveport. It is a 3 wheeled car with 1 rear wheel and 2 front wheels. They are saying it will get 84 mpg and cost $6800. Standard equipment will include A/C, AM/FM radio, power door locks and power windows. It has 2 seats, one behind the other. Pictures, videos and other info can be seen at http://www.eliomotors.com/. My wife and I have 2 Smart Cars, one that we keep in South Texas and one that we keep in NY. I have seen many more negative posts about Smart Cars than positive ones, so I expect that most people will react to the Elio negatively. $100 down gets you on the waiting list for possible production in July 2014. We are thinking about ordering one.

RE: temperature and printer ink

Every winter I leave my Canon MP150 in our home in the Adirondack Mountains in northern NY. I do nothing to it to winterize it. We winterize the house by draining the water and shutting off the power. The house often gets to 20 below. When I get back in the spring, I do nothing to the printer. I don't even test it. The first document that it prints has always been just like the last one in the fall. Your results could be different.

RE: Bobcat on our trail camera

The summer of 2010 my wife and I took a motorcycle ride with some friends from North Adams, Mass. We were returning to North Adams and had to stop for construction before getting into the city. We were the third bike, our friends were on the first and second bikes. While we were stopped, a mountain lion walked out of the woods to our left, crossed the street between the first and second bike, and entered the woods on the other side of the street. Before it entered the woods it stopped and looked back at us.

RE: Compact/small cars

If a 2 seater will do for you, a Smart Car will only set you back about 15k and will get about 40MPG. They are safe (for a small car) and reliable. The Smart Passion at 15k has an automatic transmission with manual paddle shifters, air (with climate control), power windows and door locks, an OK radio and is fun to drive.

RE: Breakfast Ideas

We had some Mexican friends stay with us for a few days this summer. Maria did all the cooking. Here is my version of what she made one morning that will feed 2. Heat about 1/8" of oil in a frying pan. Cut 4 or 5 CORN tortillas into bite sized pieces and fry untill golden brown and crispy. While frying the tortillas, dice about 1/2 cup onion, 1/2 cup tomato and a hot pepper or 2. When the tortillas are crispy, drain any excess oil and add the onion tomato and pepper to the frying pan and cook for a few minutes. Then add a few eggs (I use Egg Beaters). When the eggs are cooked like you like them, sprinkle on some shredded cheese and serve. You could also add some cilantro and maybe some crispy bacon crumbled on top, or ground sausage. If I don't have a tomato, I add a couple tablespoons of salsa.

RE: Why the USB port

My 2011 F250 has Microsoft Sync. I have about 3000 songs on a 8 gig thumb drive plugged into the dashboard. I can play any of my music using voice commands for artist, album, track or genre. A good thumb drive for this is the Sandisk Cruzer Fit because it only sticks out about 1/4 inch (it looks like a reciever for a wireless mouse).
