RE: TC organization

Try camping in the TC at home with the rule that you can't go back in the house to get anything. You'll find out what you need and what you don't for everyday use. For example, I only carry enough dishes, now for 3 people and I only bring enough food for the trip I'm on. Blackout liners for the windows when you're parked where there's a street light.

RE: a 'Little' trip report

Got to swim in the Little Colorado River beautiful pink and aqua colored water that merged into the Colorado at the bottom of the canyon while on a 2 trip rafting trip back in 2007, I'd like to see the beginning too.

RE: Inside Shower vs Outside Shower

Haven't used the shower, DH says I'd fill up the gray water tank in a minute. I can do the navy shower outside but 1) I need more water to wash my hair and 2) I like hot/warm water. So, how much water do you use in the indoor shower? Do you only use it when you have sewer hookups? Is there a way to get hot water to outside shower?

RE: Trip report, part three: 2013 Overland Expo

Nice pics, Jefe, that's our rig, the S&S in the background of JPnAZ's wench pic. We've circumnavigated the U.S. in it!

RE: S & S Manufaturing ?

We own and S&S 2005 9.5 Ponderosa. Love it, but it is heavy. Very well built and insulated, we've never been too cold in it. Lots of clever storage. Got it used in AZ, they hold up well, check around.

RE: Overland Expo 2013

We had a wonderful time at the Expo and the best part for me was getting to meet all the RV net TC folks! Thanks to Steve & Sally for suggesting we gather at the Expo and to Bryan for pulling it together. Hope the next time we're together we get to gather around a roaring campfire!

RE: Truck camper meet-up at Overland Expo, Flagstaff, May

Anyone know if we'll be able to have camp fires in the TC area? The regular campground has firepits but I don't know about the place where we are.

I believe there's an RV dump associated with the campground run by the Mormon Lake Lodge. Same folks that operate the showers.

We plan to show up with our S&S camper for one or two nights. Is someone going to have a sign so we know where you got your space and we can find you? I know their all allocated but I want to be able to locate y'all.

RE: Truck camper meet-up at Overland Expo, Flagstaff, May

Trying to talk to DH into going to this. We went to Mormon Lake last year for the Arizona Trail. First, be aware there is no "lake". There's what's left of a lake bed. The camping areas are roomy and spread out and easy to walk to buildings. There is nothing in Mormon Lake except a very expensive gas pump and a teeny local store. The restaurant at the lodge is good, especially the apple cobbler.
The Arizona Trail runs through the area and there's hiking and lots of horseback riding nearby. Should be a fun gathering, hope to go!

RE: Roosevelt Lake AZ weekend trip

Sorry to be a while getting back, we spent the past weekend in Death Valley, wonderful trip!
Mike, we went out 89 to the turn off South of Payson, DH doesn't like to take the big camper on the gravel road. We did do a little sight seeing in the jeep around the cliff dwelling ruins.
We just had a blow up boat for the kiddos, they learned how to hook the worm (eew, was my granddaughter's take!)but the fishermen out there were saying they weren't catching anything - the water level was real low.

Roosevelt Lake AZ weekend trip

We took the TC out to Roosevelt Lake last weekend to celebrate our grandkid's birthday. It was a beautiful weekend weather wise. We got a site at Cholla campground; no hookups but shower/bathrooms and a playground for the kids. Picnic tables and fire pits with grills. All for $3 per night with our America the Beautiful pass. We toured the Lower Cliff Dwellings (a mile roundtrip hike) and took a raft out on the lake so the kids could get to a beach and try some fishing. It was quiet at night, with the glow of the city over Four Peaks in the distance and a sky full of stars so we could teach a little about the constellations. It'll be too warm pretty soon, glad we got out.

RE: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?

We're getting ready for our first trip of the year, doing a weekend at Roosevelt Lake. DH replaced all 4 batteries with new Interstates (old ones were 5-7 years old). With the fierce heat here in the summer, the refrigerator vent cover on the roof had cracked, so he replaced that too. We plan to get a tarp cover for this summer. We're heading out to Death Valley later this month, we'll probably re-do the caulking around all the rooftop openings before we go.
