Stabilizers

With a tag along I was will to put up with a lot wiggling a jiggling when sobody else was moving around in the trailer. Now that I have a heavy 5ver i admit the wiggling is lees than with a tt but I'm think that it could still be better. I see all of these stabilizing product out there a was woundering if any of them work as good as promised. I'm looking at a set of laterial braces that hook onto the landing gear for about $400. Any thoughts on weather or not their worth the money.

RE: 2006 Cypress by Newmar

I just bougth an 06 Kountry Star this past summer. It was a big step up in quality from the Roadrunner and Dutchman TTs I have owned in the past. Its just a shame that they quit making 5ers last year. I couldn't be happier with it. Guess it means I'am Offically an RVer now that my RV is nicer that my house.

RE: what size hitch

A few years ago I read that railroads use the 80% rule which is when buying new equipement what ever the intended use is should not be over 80% of the max limit this leaves you room to grow. ie: 80% of 16000# is 12800# so if the trailer is over 12800# move up to the next size hitch. I have a 21000# hitch in my 3/4 ton I know I will never come close to towing that much with it but some day I may want to upgrade and I will already have the hitch to do it and even if I don't I have the peace of mind knowing my hitch is not the weakest link

RE: How to judge height clearance when driving

If anyone remebers how the old curb feelers worked. You can do the same thing with a long cb ant. on a mag. base mounted to the roof of your truck just make sure its a few inches higher that the highest point on your fiver you'll hear it if it hits something and if there was any question as to the clearance you should be going slow enough to stop before you do any damage.

RE: Gasser heavy pull

Allegheny, your're one of the ones I want to hear from. Anyone else doing it? What is the fiver you are pulling? Thanks,
Newmar Kountry Star 35 BDSA I just got it this past June so I was in the some boat as you not that long ago, asking on hear and not wanting to hear from the WP. My last truck was an 06 reg cab long box 2500 6.0 4:10 I didn't notice any change in MPG. But the new 6 speed tran and 3:73s tow way better the my old 4 speed trans with 4:10

RE: Gasser heavy pull

I have a 2011 2500 crew shortbox 6.0 3:73. My 5er is around 14000# dry. My truck is completely stock. I get 3" of squat on the rear. My truck handle the 5er just fine highway towing it runs 5th and 6th gear trans temp runs 10-20 degrees higher than when I'm not towing.
