RE: 50 amp service upgrade

If you do it, check Tweetys for a 90-degree; 50amp; connector plug. It goes between the Marinco connector on the side of the trailer and the service cord. It lets your (heavy) connection hang straight down and takes the twisting load off of the connector. ]

RE: Use of Orange/Yellow cones is a must!

On a highway job a few years ago. Every morning the subcontractor doing curbs and driveways would put out cones and start work early. For about two weeks the same car came through each morning and deliberately ran down the cones. The crew turned a cone upside down and filled it with concrete. Weighed about a hundred and twenty pounds. Smart ass wanted somebody to pay for the bumper that got ripped off, but all of the witnesses said he must have hit a tree. Nobody could fine the cone.

RE: Memphis Tn

We stayed at Tom Sawyer two years ago and they didn't open until June 6 due to high water. We got there the 8th, stayed for 4 nights and loved it. Give them a call.

RE: Weight vs frontal area

Slow Down. I have a one ton diesel that would pull a house off of the foundation if I had enough chain, but I get the best fuel economy at about 55-57 mph. Above 55 I give up about 1.5 mpg for each 5 miles per hour increase. Not usually worth it.

RE: cougar axles

Check the price on B.F. Goodrich Commercial TA (Load Range E; 80psi). probably size LT245/75R16. A good combination of price and durability. The axles look OK but it won't hurt to have the alignment checked and you might want to get individual wheel weights to make sure they are loading evenly.

RE: Power Converters

There is going to be an automotive type breaker with manual reset somewhere between the battery and the pannel. Pull any 12volt fuse and check for voltage between the hot blade (usually ((but not always)) on the right or bottom depending on how the pannel is mounted) and ground.

RE: CO/Propane detector

If the trailer has been sitting for a while, you may have been getting a low-voltage alarm based on battery condition. As soon as the battery charged a little, the alarm condition went away.

RE: Wheel bearings

He doesn't want to bother cleaning out the old grease (and dirt, metal filings, and crud) before repacking?? Just askin!

Go to the Banks website (or call them) and ask who does their work nearest to you.

RE: Long Box--Short Box?

Longer wheelbase = better ride. How you use the inches between the wheels is not important.

RE: 5W vs Class A MH

A small but measurable factor is that taking the toad up to Lowes to get 20 bags of mulch can be probmatical at best. Leave the hitch hanging on the kingpin and your pickup is a pickup. Just one more factoid.

RE: Securing Pocket Door for Transit-new hardware/ideas needed

A small cup hook in the wall on each side and the shortest available Bungee.

RE: Fifth wheel investment

I had an owner tell me one time that all Dutchmen come from the factory with a built in roof leak!

RE: Fifth wheel investment

Any RV is NOT an investment. It is a purchase; it depreciates; it is enjoyable.

RE: Leaving 5th Wheel Hitch Hanging on Kingpin

Stop overthinking it and just do it if it fits your storage method!
