RE: This weekend was horrable

Not meaning to sound too critical but why aren't you doing the eggs in the same frying pan as the bacon, yum, yum, never mind the second pan. There is nothing like the smell of bacon frying.Good for you. "Dude" it's California. Those aren't even real eggs they are 0 calorie 0 cholesterol egg substitute, with artificial organic vegan soy bacon. Due to the green initiative the company that produces it doesn't have to pay taxes so it's quite inexpensive. We cook in cast iron because of the cancer causing toxins found in Teflon. We cook over a natural fire due to the environmental impact of LP to our mother earth. :) All kidding aside, the bacon grease is used to deep fry the hash-browns! Oh and don't worry the skillets are seasoned with bacon grease too.

RE: This weekend was horrable

Thanks for viewing. My posts are in now way saying I have it better, just being fun and posting picts for folks to enjoy. I know when I can’t get out to do a hobby, enjoying it through what other people share is always great. As I always say, although we have great weather we pay for it. Also my kids have never seen it snow. They have been to our local mountains but not even close to waking up after a white out to 4 feet of snow and the beauty of what that brings. :)

RE: This weekend was horrable

I have my travel trailer parked outside the back door near the deck. I have a fire pit out there also. I have a picnic table over near the flower bed. In that flower bed is a sign that reads: Happy Hollow Campground. When I feel the need until warmer weather I go to Happy Hollow. Me and the doggy go out there just to lay down sometimes and watch tv. It is not as great as a campground at this time but it gets me through the low times. Already have several campsites reserved for this season. I like your style. You get to camp at will and no fees. That's really enjoying the TT to the fullest. I'd like to do that but I'm worried what the neighbors would think with my awning out and a fire going. My TT is stored on the drive way.

RE: Axle Question

Your axles probably have a slight set to a bow in the center, some are built and installed like that. Have you checked the wheel bearings to see that they are tight? Unless you really have some excessive weight torquing on the axle ends, I would think that seeing the wheels camber while driving would be improbable. Do you have torsion axles? It might be that the inner rubber has deteriorated. That would allow the spindle to move out of customary alignment. Are you seeing any excessive wear on the tires? The trailer is new. The backing plate is angled so It's not the barrings. No torsion Axles regular old leaf springs.

RE: Axle Question

What your seeing is all normal. I did a search and I found one thread on a Tundra forum, a couple of posts said it's normal. Thanks

RE: Hitch package from RV dealer

That is a lot but normal. My dealer wanted $1200. I’m way too handy with tools to pay that. Hitch $200 craigslist Break Controller $110 7 Pin Adapter $20 $330 vs $1200 Before I picked up the trailer I measured the height of the tongue and adjusted the ball mount accordingly. I still needed to make some adjustments once I picked it up but it’s easy. Plenty of YouTube vids. If you can’t do it yourself, have a trailer shop do the work you’ll save a few hundred at least.

RE: thinking about buying a Keystone - Passport

We just picked up a 2910. Taken it out 4 times so far. Just as rickety and flimsy as any other model. I don't like the stove vent that blows back into the trailer. Other than that It's fine. It pulls amazing. It's 5400 lbs and 33 ft. It pulls nicer than my old Fleetwood that was 4300 lbs and 24 ft. So far no real issues. The locks they use for the storage compartments are junk but I believe they all are. I don't like the locks either, when I looked I think most of them were like that. I had a 95 Prowler 5ht wheel and I do love myPassport but when we looked and we looked for year, not anything new was put togehter as good as my 95. Oh I totally agree. I love my passport but my 94 Fleetwood was 10 times more solid.

RE: Just picked up our first trailer!

Congrats. I spent 2 hrs on my hitch work too when I brought mine home. Made a trip to home depot for a new torque wrench for it. You got that thing sitting perfect. The F150 has a soft rear and your's sits really nice. Great job! Nice Rig too. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the aluminum siding. It is sooo pretty! It'll hold up very well over many years.

This weekend was horrable

We had a little heat wave out here this past weekend. Got up to 87 at camp. That's my foot in the seccond pict. Warm enough to cook breakfast in shorts and flip flops. http://imageshack.us/a/img690/6453/87304387.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img507/985/82245881.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img341/3682/25598621.jpg

Axle Question

Hi all. I notice when I make hard turns my rear wheels bow with a negative camber in this direction \ I noticed it on my old trailer a bit, but my new one does it even more (heavier and longer). It always straightens out on the straight. I stopped once on a hard turn when it was doing this, got out of the truck and noticed a bow across the axle as well when looking under the trailer. I’ve also noticed slight changes in the caster usually when backing in. Is this normal? I’m assuming it’s for handling and to distribute weight.

RE: Dealer wants more sales tax after delivery. What?

Both Giant RV and Mike Thompson's tried to get me to buy in Dec due to the 1% sales tax increase. (gotta love the left coast!) We ended buying mid Dec. If you bought in Jan and they did the taxes at the Dec rate then they goofed up. They'll have to eat it if you don't pay. I make mistakes so I'd pay them. Don't be mad at the dealer, be mad at our pathetic state! I'd be outta here if it weren't for family! Grrrrr! Ok I'll get off my soap box now. :)

RE: A Question for the 12 Volt Experts

I always leave for camping with full batteries. The batteries are the interstate 12v (2) and they are new. When we pull up to a dry camping spot, I’d like to keep the truck idling and hooked up through the set up process. I’m hoping that my TV alternator and battery will assist the TT jacks as well as the slide so that I don’t have the initial drain I have when I set up unhooked. My feeling is that this process will pull from the TV and will preserve the electricity to use for my TT lights heater etc till the AM when I plug in the whisper Leaving the TV running and connected while setting up won't save much of the TT battery as most of the power for the jacks and slides will come from the TT battery! However if you want to conserve the TT battery while setting up you can leave the TV running and connected, and dis-connect the TT battery (negative post) do the setup, unhook the TV. Hook up the -ve post on the TT battery. Done. Good thought I like it especially with a battery kill switch. Could this draw to much off that "little" wire and blow a fuse? I did unhook the TT batteries with the truck idling to make certain my tow battery charge wire was hot and working. It was, the inside lights, radio, etc all were working off the truck wire, when I turned off the truck the lights went out. (interior lights, not running lights that's a separate circuit)I did not test the slide, or the jack, I'm not sure the amps those motors pull.

RE: A Question for the 12 Volt Experts

Good to go. Although in all pratical use IMO leaving the truck run while setting up will not save enough draw to worry about it. The real benefit is maintaining 100% charge while driving. If the slide struggles to come in you might be discharging the battery more than recommended. Since you charge with a generator this is a good time to review the charging system is actually getting the low batteries up into the 14.2+ volt range. Otherwise it is barely a trickle charge after the first 20 minutes. I guess I shouldn't say struggle but reeeeaaal slow. I just got a digital voltage meter. Usually when we wake up after running the flat screen for a few hours (inverter), heater blower water pump a couple of lights etc. My battery is starting to show the second light down on the stock battery strength panel in the TT. I usually run the whisper about 2hrs in the am and 2-3 hrs in the early eve and that gets it back strong for the night after the 8pm generator cut time. The digital will be better to let me know when the battery is full not just a red light. The issue is Sunday morning when we pack up. I don't run generator so I'm hoping the truck will help with the low (lower) battery when operating the jacks and slide. I'll see how it helps this Sunday when we load out. I'm going to try the slide and jacks assuming they will be slow as they usually are on Sunday mornings, then fire up the truck and see if there is any difference. If there is I'll also assume that on Friday when I set up with the truck running it will be helping to preserve the TT batteries.

RE: A Question for the 12 Volt Experts

Yes, your ideas are correct. The charge line will help but how much is dependent on the size of the wire you installed. Bigger is indeed better. I hear that.

RE: A Question for the 12 Volt Experts

While you have your tools out you might want to check and make sure the wire is dead when ignition is off ! Yep it is, hence the reason for leaving the truck idling while setting up. It's a Ford and that's actually what the little $30 piece of plastic relay does. When the ignition is off it opens the circuit so the wire is only hot when the ignition is on. Great for Wal-Mart camping cause the TT won't drain the truck battery if you forget and leave it plugged in. There is also a 20 amp fuse behind that. I Believe it's an open circuit when the truck is cranking as well in case there is a draw from the trailer.

A Question for the 12 Volt Experts

I wired my 7 pin a few years back and never purchased the relay, therefore the battery tow charge wire has not been hot. Now that I have electric jacks and a slide, I put it in. The reason I put the relay in and got the trailer tow battery charge wire now working is for the following reasons, and I’m wondering if having the wire hot will help with the following. My feeling is that this process will pull from the TV and will preserve the electricity to use for my TT lights heater etc till the AM when I plug in the whisper generator. Also on my last trip when we went to leave on Sunday and my batteries had drained enough to make the slide struggle as well as the jacks. I had to fire up the generator to assist and then they worked fine. If on our leave the batteries were low, my thinking is the idling truck will assist the jacks and moving in the slide? Thanks, and again, I always appreciate the time and effort from everybody’s input. Friday will be my first trip out to see if there is a difference. Mike

Mine did the same. You will have to re adjust your break controller after adjusting the breaks. Watch this video. I adjusted my breaks and it worked fine. How To Adjust Trailer Breaks Vid.
