RE: 8 foot camper in a 6.5 foot box?

Here is a 9' Arctic Fox 811 on a Ford F250 short bed. http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s90/tccustom/IMG_7545.jpg You can do anything you want. It will look ugly though and it might not be safe, depending on the centre of gravity. How this for Ugly!!!! I think she's purdy:) AF1

RE: keeping elec plugged in

I just talked with AF about this. If you leave it plugged in all the time and charging the battery it will ruin the battery. Also if you have a Solar charger and disconnect the battery the charger want charge the battery. So the best thing is to leave the battery on and disconnect form the AC. If I left it on AC the whole time I would disconnect the battery. AF1

RE: Need tc towed

Why not raise up the camper and take the truck out of grear and push it out from under the camper. Then tow the truck to the dealer? Just seems to be the simples thing to do. AF1

RE: AGM Battery Recommendation

I bought 4 year old Optima battery for my bass boat. They came with a year warranty. I have used them 2 years now and there still holding a charge and doing great. There almost 7 years old and doing fine. I will buy them again next time only new ones. AF1

RE: Walking on floor while camper is suspended

I drop mine every time I go camping. I use the jacks and some a Frame jacks to stabilize it. I have never camped and left it on the truck even for a day. I take it of and lower it just to make getting in and out of it easier. most campers are made to support of the truck. AF1

RE: New Camper is a SWINGER, Help

I added a Roadmaster Sway bar, that and about 70Lb of pressure in the bags helped it a bunch. When the OEM shocks wear out I will add after market ones and that should finish it off. Good Luck AF1 PS Mine did the smae thing on my ride home. The tested all the tanks and left about 30 gallons of water in the tank. That didn't help it out any.

RE: Smaller tire = better gas mileage?

I went from stock 17 inch rims to stock 20 inch rims. The tires on the 20's are about 2 inches taller. I had the dealer reflash the computer, This corrects speed, shiftpoints etc on the truck. I can't see any difference on the milage. AF1

RE: Air Bags

I would go with the incab controller. Then you can air up on the spot and air out when you get to the camping spot. AIr back up and not have to carry the camper 190 miles down the road to get to an air hose. Good luck AF1

RE: Chrysler/Dodge trucks going away?

It doesn't matter that the Ram Trucks are the best or one of the best selling Dodges. When (NOW) Obama loans them money, he will tell them what to make and what not to make. Do you think they are going to let them build Big, low milage trucks, Nope!!!! They will have to come out with a electric truck, green truck to keep the tree huggers happy. Then he is going to go with the coal taxes and drive up the cost of energy. Then we want be able to drive out of town, so that we age all going to be living in our campers when it is all said and done. better buy them trucks NOW while they are available. AF1

RE: Considering a slideout TC

I have a F250 super crew diesel 4x4, I carry a AF811 with airbags and in-cab controller, and road-master sway bar. No problems and love the camper. Even tow my boat I just went to FL 12 hour trip and got over 10 mpg with the boat. Good Luck AF1

RE: Remove TC ?

This is the whole reason I got a truck camper. Drop the camper and use the truck for store, site seeing, and to put the boat in the water. AF1

RE: Dually VS SRW....I was in Horror Driving my SRW Truck

If I was going to keep the camper in my truck or use my truck only for the camper, I agree that I would get a DRW Truck. Now, I drive my truck daily. I have to drive 500 miles to work 3 or 4 times a month. Take the kids to soccer and hockey games. I camp 4 or 5 times a year. Mostly for 4 or 5 days at a time. Most trips are within 2 hours of the house. With a Roadmaster sway bar, "E" rated tires, Airbags. My truck handles the camper where I feel comfortable driving it at the speed limit, I usually drive a few mph under it. I drive it like I have a big camper in the back. DRW or SRW they both have only two front tires. Which steer the truck. Most SRW truck have more load compacity tires not only on the back but front. So I would think that you have a better chance of having a blow out on a DRW truck with light "E" rated front tires. I'm happy with my SRW truck, If your happy with your truck isn't that all that matters. AF1

RE: Dually VS SRW....I was in Horror Driving my SRW Truck

I would agree that that little camper on a SRW is too much. I have a F250 and a AF811 I was a little uneasy driving it home. Then I found that the dealer installed the airbags wrong, and left the fresh water tank full. I have sense reinstalled the Airbags, and added a Roadmaster Sway Bar. Just got back from a 800 mile trip pulling the boat and never felt uncomfortable the whole trip. AF1

RE: Helwig Anti-Swaybar

I second the Roadmaster Sway Bar. Installed and the truck handles great go this route and then when you need shocks upgrade them at that time. AF1

RE: For the non 19.5" SRW drivers....

Any tire you find in an E rated 285/70/17 will be rated at 3750lbs. This is not correct just as it seems there is no formula for finding the tire weights. Some "E" are 2680 to 3860 depending on size but nothing in common. There is also "D" that go from 2689 to 3525. Seems you have to just go thru and look at the all Here is a spec sheet just on the BFG All Terrain. Tire specs AF1

Another reason to buy a Ford product. Easy to fot tires and wheels. AF1
