RE: Replacing the A/C & Heat Thermostat - Got Questions!

Coleman sells eight or nine different thermostats for ACs (cool only or heat/cool, heat pump, regular with or without a heat strip) that would probably work just fine with a Dometic. That would be easier than modifying a Hunter to work; although they might cost a bit more. Not knocking the Hunter install; just offering an alternative.

I'm with Gemstone. I'd roof ove the whole shebang as pine needles can cause future "heartburn". JMHO

RE: Shore power safety...

The EMS I have is a Progressive Industries EMS-HW50C, and it works very well. It also has a monitor that I mounted where it's visible while we're relaxing in the RV. It has convinced one RV park owner to have the power company replace one of their transformers and one to actually drive in and wire a copper grounding stake at my site to clear an open ground error! I'm happy to have the EMS.

RE: Carbon Monoxide can kill when tent camping too

And, to think of all the times we slept in GP Medium or GP Small tents, while in the service, using a "MoGas" heater to keep from freezing. I guess the fact that there was always a strong wind blowing through the tents is what kept us all alive! And, thinking back, I don't think it ever got above 40-50 degrees inside the tents, either.

RE: Do I leave it as it or start over?

Give it a few days. The roof material is probably lifting because of the off-gassing of the Dicor. After the sealant cures, it will probably lay down as it was.
X2. But, even if it does, check it again after the next good rain to see if it raises up again. If it does, you've got water intrusion from a leak that needs to be repaired.

RE: Consignment Sale Time Frame

Yes to all that mentioned... ask questions up front. I never ceased to amaze myself. I mean... I have a checklist for everything to do with the RV 1)Day before departure checklist; 2)Day of departure checklist; 3)Hooking up the truck checklist; ...4);5) etc....
And even though I think that the delay in receiving my check is a bit LONG, y'all make me more comfortable in knowing there is a delay (most responses). And so I'll leave it at this TEACHING MOMENT
Prepare a checklist of QUESTIONS TO ASK BEFORE SIGNING THE CONTRACT!
Keep us posted on how this goes for you. Hopefully all is well; but, you never know. Whenever we go for another rig, we plan on doing a consignment sale. Gathering info. Thanks.

RE: Carbon Monoxide can kill when tent camping too

Need to point out that the "torch" they mention in the warning you posted means "flashlight" in British English.
Several years ago, a neighbor in an RV park in Pasadena, TX, started his truck and let it idle for a very long time. His exhaust was pointed directly at a slideout seam in our rig. After a while, it set off our CO detector! I made sure my DW was awake, opened vents/windows, and went out to have a talk with the young man! He didn't do it again. That could've been deadly, if we had been in a tent without a CO detector!

RE: Shore power safety...

That's why I have an Electrical Management System, sold by www.viprv.com, installed. It won't let power through to the rig if the pedestal or cord have problems.

RE: Nut Torque/Maintenance

My question is, "Where do you get the torque specs for all of the fasteners, other than lug nuts?" If I knew the correct specs, I'd be all over the rig with a torque wrench. Otherwise, I just continue to make sure they are snug/tight "enough", without stripping them.

RE: Fuuel Stabililzer for diesel?

Sta-Bil makes special stabilizers for diesel and gasoline. I don't see the one for diesel very often; but, it does exist at Wal Mart. Being fulltimers, we go through fuel too fast to need a stabilizer!

RE: Black tank dump valve handle broke off

If your valves are side by side, you might have to remove about 1/2" length of the 3" pipe going to the black water valve, to get room to work with the valves. Then, reconnect the shortened ends with something like this:
http://www.lowes.com/Search=flexible+coupling?storeId=10151&N=0&langId=-1&catalogId=10051&rpp=16
Of course, if you can find one of these rubber tubular connectors small enough, you could put it in the 1 1/2" pipe, instead.

RE: Black tank dump valve handle broke off

If it is under warranty ask the dealer to ship one to you. No cost to you.:B
X2. Or, use two pairs of pliers to remove the part that's still screwed in. Buy a 1/4"-20 rod at Lowes, and an aluminum handle at most any RV place that sells parts. It all depends on where you are and how bad you need it. A "Gator" broke ours off once when we were on our way out on vacation. Easy fix.

RE: Sewer dump on wrong side?

We are in a campground in St. Ignace, MI that has the sewer connection on the correct side, but has the electric and water in the "front yard", not far from the picnic table. Strange, and I don't know how this ended up like it is, but we carry extensions for sewer and water, so the only factor we have to adjust to is the length of the power cord.

RE: Alcan Highway in Winter

When my BIL drove it in the winter in a Class C, about 18 years ago, he was run off the road and into a snow drift by a trucker. Another trucker came along and pulled him out. I would imagine that if you're careful you'll be alright, barring a blizzard, that is.

RE: Winegard Portable Carryout Satellite TV Antenna-white dome

Oops...
I bought a Carryout; but, when I got it to the RV, it couldn't find *anything*! Took it back to Camping World and bought a VuQube1000. That was about three and a half years ago; and, it's still working fine! Just my experience....
