RE: Any decent places to eat in Tombstone, AZ

One more I might add. The O.K. Cafe across from the park on Allen street does have an excellent breakfast menu.

RE: Any decent places to eat in Tombstone, AZ

Big Nose Kate's is a popular "tourist" stop but tends to be slow and more expensive than others in the area. The Longhorn usually gets our business when we have family in town. The Silver Nugget (across the street from Bird Cage) has a more "soda shop" atmosphere with some of the best foot long hot dogs West of Coney Island. They quite often have live music performances on their small stage. The Depot on the east end of Allen Street is a steak house but hasn't impressed us much. There are several other small cafe's scattered around town but we haven't visited them too often. We have lived 33 miles from Tombstone for over 10 years and have been there many times, so take the above for what it is worth. Sierra Vista is a fairly large community about 20 miles to the West on Charleston Road and has most of the expected franchised restuarants found in most cities.

RE: Erroneous GPS Routes

If you have internet access while traveling, Google Maps "Street View" is very helpful. Example - GPS routed me to a short left turn across traffic to get to a highway change about 1/4 mile ahead. Couldn't figure out why it didn't just direct me to the next intersection and turn left. Street view showed that there was no left and no "get off". It was an overpass, thus the requirement to get off before the intersection. Street View is also great to check out entrances to RV parks and recognize landmarks prior to actually arriving at a given place. You can actually read bridge clearance signs in most cases. Just like being there. Granted it is not available everywhere, but they have done a pretty good job of displaying most major roads, streets and highways. We even spotted a needed Walgreens one time in an area that we had never visited before.

RE: Looking for Advice

- We stayed at Elmendorf AFB in Rapid City. Elmendorf AFB is in Alaska ....... Ellsworth AFB is in Rapid City, SD. Both are very interesting places. Hey, I am retired Army. One AFB is the same as another. :B Even a Coastie knows that, right Sam? Thanks for correcting that though. :) BTW - Where's SampsonAFB?

RE: want to travel the southwest

Living only 1/2 hour from Tombstone, I can tell that it is quite interesting but really only a day or, at the most, two to see it all. The area has quite a bit to offer though. Bisbee is an old mining town 30 miles south of Tombstone with mine tours and plenty of shopping for antiques and art. The Chiracahua Monument is about 1 1/2 hour drive from Tombstone and offers some wonderful sights, an historic ranch, and plenty of hiking trails. The monument also has a campground but your rigs will be too big for that one. Max length is about 25'. Karchner caverns and Ft Huachuca are about 1/2 hour to 45 min to the West and are quite interesting stops. If you want more info on our area drop me a PM. And.... Welcome aboard.:)

RE: Looking for Advice

So we have an '87 foot class C... That beast won't fit in ANY campground. :h Sorry, couldn't resist. :) Yellowstone - Fishing Bridge Campground - Reservations: Now Mount Rushmore - We stayed at Elmendorf AFB in Rapid City. Nice campground if you qualify. Plenty of places to camp in and around Rapid City area and more than enough to see for a couple of weeks.

RE: Confusion, wireless options?

We use the Verizon MiFi 2200 at home and on the road. Small credit card device allows up to 5 connections at the same time. $60 a month for 5Gb. Works fine for us. DW and I both connect at the same time without any degredation in speed. Your network connection should not impact your printer connection at home. Same device you see in the Sprint commercials with everyone sitting in the car. Verizon has much better coverage than Sprint though.

RE: Streets & Trips crashing laptop.

You may have a problem with RAM memory issues. S&T requires at least 500mb of RAM to work well and 1GB is even better. If you have the "leave a trail" option turned on it will hose up very quickly. Recommend that you up the RAM if you can and ensure the trail feature is turned off on long trips. Not sure is "leave a trail" is the correct terminology as I don't have S&T installed on this PC but it is the option that enables you to draw a fine blue line on the map as you proceed down the road. Not to be confused with the thick blue line identifying your planned route.

RE: Mobile Hot Spot

We just recently purchased the new Verizon 2200 mobile MiFi card replacing their USB modem. Card is actually built by Novatel. Both of us can be online at the same time and speed is comparable to the USB modem. Don't leave home without it now. :) As far a connnectivity goes, we are here in the SW and very rural (70 miles from Tucson). We have found that almost without exception the only cell service available in our area is Verizon. We have hit all lower 48 states in the last 7 years and found connectivity problems only once. The folks at Fishing Bridge Campground in Yellowstone tell everyone to go down the road about 3/4 mile and stop by the lake to get cell coverage. :)

RE: Where to Go this Winter !!!

Try our neck of the woods down here in SE AZ. Plenty to see and do and no "snowbird" crowds.

RE: Camp Club USA, Good Sam Membership

Good Sam gets you discounts at their recognized parks and their ERS is exceptional. Plus the Standby Sams are there when you need them. But.... it's the same old Chevy vs Ford, Gas vs Diesel thingy. :)

RE: Top 10 places you want to visit where you haven't been

6- The Great Wall of China 7- The Pyramids Whoa!!! Don't tell me Chinese have taken over this country to the extent that they have moved their wall here too!!! :M The Pyramid - You mean the one in Vagas right? :) OP stated: "Let's restrict it to where you can drive your RV to."
