RE: Black Tank Issue

Could be a poop pyramid right at the bottom of toilet dump line OR could be the vent line is too long (sticks to far down into tank). Remember.....waste tanks are long, wide but not really very deep. I am trying to get "poop pyramid" out of my head!!!:S

RE: Artic Fox 27-5L or Dutchmen Komfort 2920FRK

You really are not comparing apples to apples. Your comparison is more like apples to oranges. The Fox is a wonderful product from a family owned corp. Not a big corporation. If your buying a truck anyhow, forget the F250. Go for a 1 ton SRW and tow happy. Artic Fox is not backed by big corporation, nor offer nationwide dealer network. They are a small low volume producer of nice trailers. They are not bullit proof. Having good friend as former dealer, all the things you mentioned made them difficult to get warranty work done. According to him they are just as problematic as other brands. Family owned is nice, but highly capitalized is better, with more resources when it comes to innovations !

RE: Fastway Flip Jack ??

Its one of the greatest features I put on my TT! Worked great, sometimes needed little foot guidance but its a great invention! My friends just bought a new TT. We gave them one as trailer warming gift!

RE: Snake!!!

At a park this last week. In the rest room a cute six inch snake had found its way into the facility. Man as wife called out to him, he went inside and picked it up to move it. It was a western diamond back. Bad idea for sure, I hear he might lose three fingers. (multiple bites) Small snakes are just as deadly, if not more so. Please people leave it to Park Management. Watching rattlesnake republic three times does not make one an expert! Where I live you don't move anything outside without looking first! Oh and not all have rattles!

RE: How often do you dump

Each time we leave our site. Gray tank more often, if we have family. It seems to fill fast, but we enfource few restrictions on water usage if in a full service park!

RE: Looks like Redwood is bringing back Carriage

Thor has a formula throughout their various brands for building pretty RV's with low internal quality that is profitable for them. So I would doubt that they will match the previous Carriage quality. Vist the site Lost! Way too much plywood for me! The went out of business for a reason. Thor did not purchase the intellectual property, frankly cause it was sadly outdated. Toured a new Lifstyle Friday. Not that impressed! First slides were vent deep and floor plan seemed cramped! Kinda like your old 40 plus RV you hate and write about so much!

RE: Looks like Redwood is bringing back Carriage

Note: As I recall Thor only bought the name, not the intellectual property! Time will tell "what's in a name"? I think it will be a rebranded Thor product in MHO! BMW did the same thing, bought Rolls name not the Rolls Company!

RE: Least problematic brands and dealers

Northwood will allow you to have warranty work done at an authorized non-Northwood dealer. Northwood also makes their own frames. When was the last time anyone read on here about a bad frame on a Northwood product? They all have issues, even the $$$$$$ ones. Northwood's not impervious to problems anymore than other brands. But some do have more problems than others. It's no different than a truck warranty. A bad dealer will make things worse. Northwood's customer satisfaction is one reason we went with them. It about the total package when you buy. Customer satisfaction, good floor plan, quality build. Building your own frames, does not make them better. Also look at production numbers, fewer build can skew results of actual consumer reports. I have no problem with them as I said before, but I do think they look out dated like NuWa!

RE: Generator question

This might be a dumb question but...what is the difference between a regular generator and an inverter generator? Would you connect them to a trailer differently? I mean, as far as I understand, a regular generator will provide AC to the trailer and charge the battery, but an inverter will take DC power and turn it into AC. So is an inverter generator simply both a regular generator plus an inverter? or...? You will get better technical answers soon. The inverter generator produces a cleaner power, less likely to fry computer or damage TVs etc. A stand along inverter will allow you to run 110 household items using battery reserve capacity. I have inverter generator by Yamaha and don't use any battery energy, except to run my 12 volt systems. Generator provides clean reliable power to run my entire trailer and recharge batteries!

RE: Miles or hours how do you plan your day's drive?

I like 500 miles! Works unless road issues hold me up. Set up before dark each night!

RE: Extended service plan

My Montana was year old on April 6 th. bought Good Sams extended plan April first. Noticed a fluid leak in six point level system. My dealer called me Friday, said plan covered the $800.00 repair ( broken leveler etc. ) less my deductible. I am pleased to say the very least!

RE: Least problematic brands and dealers

If you travel cross Country you need Keystone or any Thor product. No questions asked when we stopped in at any dealer. Most manufacturers want you to return to your dealer, Forrest River for example put it right in their literature. Friend of mine gave up his Artic Fox line because of problems with warranty repairs etc. AF has few dealers and that could be a problem if you travel. I looked at them and personally found them to be less attractive fit and finish. Don't hate them just what I saw! Like Airstream you hear great things , but still many of their units are delivered with serious problems. Therefore nationwide service is essentIal!

RE: generators

There are many threads on this issue so I would just search. To make it quick the general consensus is buy a pair of honda or yamaha 2000s and get the companion cable. No such consensus that buying two units instead of one is way to go ! I think that's an option, but not the general consensus by any means!

RE: generators

3000 iseb Yamaha. It runs our 15,000 unit. It has boosts from battery, and it's extremely quiet ! Get remote start you will love it! I am totally sold on the unit. Runs all well with clean power! Inverter types are the best!

RE: Going to a larger fifth wheel. Thoughts? Help!

Lot has to do with the Truck. My new Ford F450 turns in less than half my older 450. It makes my 3750 Montana seem alot smaller. Already parked it where I never dreamed of before!
