RE: New Highway? - San Luis/Puerto Penasco/Caborca

We have taken the road from Lukeville and it is good... well there was still a little bit of construction on it last Spring but should be done now.
We are in Yuma, and were told that there is a new highway from San Luis to PP, but are concerned about the 'old' road from PP to Caborca.

New Highway? - San Luis/Puerto Penasco/Caborca

We were told of a new toll highway from San Luis to Puerto Penasco. A group of us are leaving tomorrow (11/14) and were going via San Luis. We are heading to Kino Bay. Has anyone taken the new highway? What are the conditions of the old highway from PP to Caborca.
The current plan is to take the 2 from San Luis to Caborca then to Santa Ana and beyond. The 'flyer' about the highway says it cuts out 78 kms and an hour of travel.
Would appreciate your response today as we head out early in the morning.
Thanks!

RE: Importing used RV into Canada from the U.S.

Check Mike Rosman in Vernon.
Mike Rosman RV
We were treated well by them and it was worth the drive from Calgary to Vernon (about a 7 hr drive) to purchase rather than deal with the dealership in Calgary that handles Northwood.
We imported our motorhome and as others said it was pretty easy, and a trailer less involved yet.

RE: Where to park at Sonoita Immigration

Depends on which way you are leaving Mexico - Nogales or Lukeville? Yes, if you are going out via Nogales, or you will use the Sonoyta immigration if you are exiting via Lukeville

Where to park at Sonoita Immigration

We are crossing the border at Lukeville but need to drop off our FMT's and a hologram from the toad. When we went out that way last year we weren't sure where to park the rig so pulled over on the right hand side of the road and ran across and passed our FMT's in and had our passports stamped. This year have a hologram on the toad (only) and I understand they need to take it off themselves. Where is the best place to park to get that done or is there actually a certain lane that we should be in that we might have missed seeing last year? (I do know that the immigration is a bit south of Lukeville and understand that is where we need to stop to have this done.)

What do we need copies of?

We have been in Kino Bay for a couple of months already and got our FMT's on the way down. We have decided to take a trip to the Copper Canyon so will need to stop and get our vehicle permit near Guaymas. To speed things up I would like to get the copies I need of everything ahead of time.
What do we need copies of besides our vehicle registration? (We are Cdn so don't have the title, just registration which I understand is all we need.? Do we need a copy of our FMT? Passport?
Thanks

Canadians Obtaining Vehicle Permit

We are currently spending the winter in Kino Bay. We have our FMT's but have decided to join a group going to the Copper Canyon so will need to get a vehicle permit.
I know it is different for US citizens as they show if they have clear title on their paperwork, but for Canadians we only have our vehicle registration which does not indicate if the title is clear or has a lien on it.
What paperwork will we need to obtain our vehicle permit? We do NOT have a loan on our vehicle, but my understanding is if you don't have clear title you need a permission letter from the lender saying it is okay to take the vehicle into Mexico. We don't have a way to prove our title, or then again maybe it doesn't matter for Cdn's??

Finding Shrimp & other things in Guaymas

We have to pick up our daughter at the airport in Guaymas next week. We are driving in from Kino Bay.
I am looking for info on the following:
1) Where to buy camerones in either Guaymas or San Carlos
2) Where is the airport in Guaymans (driving directions from the north)
3} A decent, clean hotel/motel for an overnight stay in either city, doesn't need to be anything fancy. (translation: cheap ;)
4) A decent restaurant for dinner and breakfast near said hotel, or nearby.
Thanks for you help!

RE: Restaurant in Nogales

Thanks for the responses. We are meeting others there so it looks like it will be Walmart. We have stayed there a couple of times in the past with no problems. They do have security that patrols the lot all night as far as I am aware.

Restaurant in Nogales

Not really a 'Mexico' post but close. ;)
We are spending the night in Nogales tomorrow night at 'Club Walmart' before crossing the border early Sunday morning. Does anyone have a suggestion for a decent restaurant there? Preferably not Mexican food as that will be the fare for the next 3 1/2 months.
