RE: Best sized rv for GMC Sierra 1500 gas w/5.3 Litre engine

A small tent trailer will work. Have fun. Real helpful answer.

RE: victim of dishonest Seller

You will have a great rig fixed properly when all is said and done. Our KZ has served us well and has been a quality unit. My decals have faded badly as well. One piece of advice- check your roof seams, especially where the nose cap meets the front of the roof- make sure everythings sealed up. Ive had to keep an eye on that area. Enjoy your "new" trailer!

RE: Turn off propane at gas stations - DO YOU?

My 1st ever RV salesman told he he was once at a truck stop and witnessed an RV go up in flames- propane was on, lady ran some hot water in the RV while her husband was filling up. Spark from the h2o tank firing up set the whole thing up in flames. That story stuck with me and I never travel with my propane on. Ive never had an issue with food in my fridge or freezer getting warm and my trips are usually all under 7 hours mostly in the 2-3 hour range.

RE: Ram's new tailgate design

They oughta work on improving their half ton payload capacity before doing anything else.

RE: GMC Sierra 1500 Towing Advice

I have towed with your combo and a trailer in the same ballpark weight-wise. I say youre good to go, enjoy it! The 6 speed with the 3.42 is nothing to worry about- I love they way my truck tows with it.

RE: 2009 Tahoe 5.3L 4WD 3.42 Gears

Are you sure of the Tahoe's towing capacity? My previous GMC pickup with the same 5.3, 6 speed 3.42 rear end was good for 9500 lbs and towed my trailer extremely well. Does it have the factory tow package? If so you wont need the aux. cooler(s)

RE: Suburban / Keystone Cougar

Chris, congrats on the trailer- thats a great floor plan. We need more information on your Suburban- rear axle ratio, max payload, max tow rating, rear axle rating, four or two wheel drive. From the numbers of your trailer it looks like you will be at, near, or possibly over your Suburbans ratings depending on how it is equipped and factors like Donn mentioned- passenger and cargo weight INSIDE the truck. Length 28'0" Width 8'0" Height 11'1" Hitch Weight 850 lbs Dry Weight 6,366 lbs Cargo Weight 1,634 lbs Fresh Water Capacity 60 gals Grey Water Capacity 76 gals Black Water Capacity 38 gals Furnace BTU 30,000 Sleeps 9 Tire Size ST225/75R15D Slides 1 2013 Suburban *Weights and Capacities MAXIMUM TOWING CAPACITY** 8100 lbs. MAXIMUM PAYLOAD** 1526 lbs. GROSS WEIGHT 7200 lbs. CURB WEIGHT 5674 lbs. ANGLE OF APPROACH 16.9 degrees ANGLE OF DEPARTURE 20.5 degrees CARGO CAPACITY, ALL SEATS IN PLACE 45.8 cu.ft. MAXIMUM CARGO CAPACITY 137.4 cu.ft. ** When adequately equipped, which may require engine and/or other drivetrain upgrades. DriveTrain DRIVE TYPE Rear wheel drive TRANSMISSION 6-speed shiftable automatic The 6 speed transmission is great for towing. You likely either have a 3.08 or 3.42 rear axle ratio- hopefully the 3.42. Your trucks actual payload number should be on a yellow sticker inside on the drivers door.

RE: Jayco Jay Flight 28BHS High Tongue Weight?

See if your local dealer will throw a scale under one with the propane tanks full and battery in place.
