RE: Space Heater

We use a couple space heaters. Hey, youre paying for the electic at the site might as well get your moneys worth out of it :B. One thing to make sure of if you use more than one space heater. Dont overload the circuit. We had 2 heaters going and went to use the microwave and popped the breaker.

RE: Toy hauler removeable ladder

I just leave mine attached to the side and not take it down.... No problems so far. Unless your over 102" wide...then could be cited for being too wide. Most states have that limit. I've seen many running with the ladder, but I "think" its over the limit. I dont think i would have the cajones to drill into a new trailer for mounting points to move the ladder. I have mine cut in half and sleeved and stowed away inside up and out of the way.

RE: TH garage or non garage benefits/cons?

I have a 12 ft separate garage and would only go that way. My reasoning? In a perfect world your toys are clean and dry. In a real world (especially in the nw) it rains. Toys get wet. When ready to go home, I would rather put my wet/muddy/sand packed toy in a separate space just to keep the grime out and to keep all the funk in one area. Also with the separate garage, when the toys are out and its wet, we use the garage as a "mud room" to go in and out of. Great place to take off the wet clothes, put the wet boots, dry off our two very hairy and waterlogged Aussies, then go into the living space relatively dry and it keeps the windows from fogging and such. You do lose some living space per se, but for reasons I've mentioned its the best way to go in my opinion. You would have more capacity in a non-garage model. You more than likely would have to have a non-garage model to haul a jeep. I think only a handful would be able to carry anything heavier though (some weekend warriors).

RE: Ford F350 with and w/o Tow Boss ??

I'm pretty the tow boss has a different axle assy with the 4.30s, not just a ring and pinion swap. Its using a dana 80 instead of a dana 60 or something to that affect. In 06, you could tell a tow boss because it has the finned diff cover. The integrated brake controller works great, I was coming down hill with my trailer and had a traffic light suddenly start to change...jumped on the brakes and with the brake controller, tow command downshifting the tranny I stopped in time. Surprised me. I did have one IBC go bad... when the trailer was disconnected, got an errow message on the unit (figure that one) and it was replaced by the dealer.

RE: Brand new Raptor, FIreplace problems...

I just bought a small free standing Dimplex/electralog fireplace for my Raptor. It has a thermostat to set for the temperature, I would guess yours does too. I would see if you can at least hear the thermostat clicking on and off. When yours is running and shuts off, can it be restarted by turning up the the t-stat? If so the thermostat is bad. In my instructions it does state that the unit will shut off in an overheat condition and has to ccol down to be reset. You can try call customer service at Dimplex to at least see if they can troubleshoot it for you. Then go back to the dealer.

RE: Collapsable Exterior Ladder

Weekend Warriors came with folding exterior ladders that fold flush to the side. There have been posts on this ladder in this forum. You can also buy a telescoping ladder thru camping world and other places but they are pricey...and you would have to lean it against you trailer to use. I have a Raptor and I cut my ladder in half, sleeved it with pipe and hang it from my walls. Still a pain if I have to get to it with the quads inside, but otherwise it stows up and out of the way now and it was cheap to fabricate. http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t218/Badhabt/138_3829.jpg http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t218/Badhabt/138_3830.jpg

RE: Get rid of them?

CAN AM Renegade 500 for her, CAN AM Renegade 800( :B) for you. After riding one, I (we) want them really BAD. Get them just for the heck of it! How about a couple of Yamaha Wolverine 450s (hint hint)? Kidding aside, if you like what you got, get them fixed and save the $$$.

RE: Toyhauler Towing

My wife was hesitant on pulling our Raptor 5th wheel. Never had a second thought driving our 28ft class c and 16ft box trailer when we had it. I told her it was SO much smoother and believe it or not you wont know its there. Finally on a trip back from eastern WA, she decided to give it a try. Drove it over Blewitt pass from Wenatchee to I-90, a pretty good first test. All the advice I gave her was watch your turns, but she is a school bus driver and has driven the 40 footers. She couldnt believe how easy it was, the truck doing most of the work with the tow/haul tranny doing the upshifts and downshifts. She doesnt like to back though, still needs practice...but heres the irony of it all. I have to blind side back up my driveway uphill in an ess turn to put the Raptor away. She tries to give me directions on when to cut it and so on...but it never seems to be "easy". One day I told her to get behind the wheel and let me give the directions. With my directions and her driving it actually seems to go alot faster. I just know when and where to "bend" the trailer. Impresses the neighbors too :W

Onan 5500 power increase!

Cleaning around the garage today and found me some old "tuner" parts...figure I would add a little oomph for the genset. Whadya think? About 10 horsepower? :W :B http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t218/Badhabt/DSCN0555.jpg http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t218/Badhabt/DSCN0554.jpg http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t218/Badhabt/DSCN0553.jpg

RE: Made it back..Raptor is fab!!!

Hay good choice. We picked up our Keystone in September. Our dealer up here in Wa. was great too. Tacoma R.V. Wish we could use it a little more often. We head out to Sadie Creek with the quads this week-end for a quick camp out with friends, then off for our official vacation next week end to Montana. Just ordered a F.E.M.A. kit for the T.V. so we'll even have satalite satellite while on the road if it gets here in time. Great toy haulers we love ours. Judy X2 for Tacoma RV! I bought mine in Oct 2006 from them...great to work with in sales/service/parts!

RE: tying down quads

Nice setup Badhabt. But, wouldn't you feel a bit safer with a longer piece of E track by the door to get more screws or bolts thru the floor? In a panic stop, those short pieces will take most of the strain. Hate to see them let go. Just trying to help. :) Uh, no. The tie downs really there to keep the bikes from walking around down rough roads. I dont think theres anywhere the quad will go if it did come loose. I dont use those unless I'm hauling 4 quads...and it would take more than a panic stop to exert that much force to yank that baby out. Thanks for your concern though

RE: tying down quads

Another user of the e track in my Raptor. Ran two strips under each bike...you can barely see them in the picture. Then added two smaller pieces on the angled section by the door. Depending on how many/what combination of bikes I carry I can just move the e track straps and hook my tie downs to them. Little tougher when I pack all four, but a cinch when hauling two. http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t218/Badhabt/138_3841.jpg

RE: New Raptor...pickin' up Monday...have questions

No its supposed to come with 2 6 volts (at least per my brochure:B) Sometime's they take things out of one TH for another...I know this well still have yet to receive some brochure items, Even if they are crappy...Not the point! whatever after 3 yrs of trying forget it!:M P.S. Congrats and welcome to the keystone family! Uh, dont think so, I think all that came with them are two 12 volt batteries (unless your dealer had their own options). The 6s are heavier and probably cost more that two 12s. Ours will be 3 years old on Oct 12. My how time flies All in all, like Hockeymom said, welcome to the Raptor family!

RE: New Raptor...pickin' up Monday...have questions

Check your battery compartment and look for the cable setup. My 07 3612ds is setup for two and was supplied with two from the dealer. I thought all Raptor 5th wheels came with two...those I know have come with two (3612ds, 3712ts, 3814ss)

RE: PORCH LIGHT SWITCH ON CONTROL PANEL

I have a 2007 3612DS too, the patio light switch and the porch light switch turn on the same light just outside the front door; but with different bulbs. The patio light switch illuminates a yellow/amber light and the porch light switch turns on a clear/white light.

RE: removable 5th wheel hitch

I like my Hijacker. Mounts under the box. Pull for pins, move the levers 180 degrees and it comes our (with two people of course). Oomes with plugs to cover the holes. Hijacker

RE: Quality of Heartland vs Keytone vs Dutchmen

I am VERY satisfied on the quality of my Raptor 3612DS. It will be three years this Oct 12th, put on 5000+ miles. Everything still works, still looks great. Very happy with the trailer and the support from the dealer. When I was shopping I thought that the Raptor had better quality than the Cyclones in my opinion...primarily the interior construction/trimwork and the exterior caulking.

RE: Waxing over decals??

Just used the Meguiar's Cleaner, Polish and Wax over mine. The whole trailer looks outstanding and the decals look fine too. I've never cleaned it to this extent so we'll see how the decals hold up over time. Regardless, my trailer didn't look this good when it was brand new. As expected, it sure takes quite an effort to do the whole trailer...basically three times over. A good buffer certainly helps. Nice thing I only plan on doing this kind of detail once per year. BTW, Meguiars also has a Vinyl/Rubber Cleaner that I also purchased. One of the dirtiest and toughest areas to clean was in the joints that have been caulked. Using a nylon brush (toothbrush-like) with this cleaner, all the dirt is gone. This stuff is outstanding! Brad I started yesterday on my Raptor...using the Meguiars RV/Marine #50. Man, does it bring out the shine! The black streaks by the gutters came right off, the decals have lost their water spots...and it feels so slick. The depth of clarity of the gel coat is remarkable, you can definately see the difference between the waxed and unwaxed areas. Thanks for the info on the vinyl/rubber cleaner. The area that bugs the******out of me is the caulked joints, I was wondering how to clean those buggers.

RE: Waxing over decals??

Just curious what treatment you purchased from the dealer? I had Xzilon applied by the dealer when I purchased last fall and I don't think it was worth it. It was supposed to make the dust just "fly off" and was like a ScotchGard on the interior. Now I can't get the guy to return my call to get the "just call me whenever you feel you need a touch up" service for free. My gelcoat front nose looks like it will need a buff out soon. I purchased a Perma-Plate Paintguard for $600. Not really too sure if it was worth it or not. I bought the trailer in 2006 and this is the first year I'm really having to wax it. I have the black streaks (which was suppose to just wash away after getting the treatment...but they never did). It has a 5 year guarantee for any damages, but if you look in the fine print your are suppose to use their "reconditioner" product every six months (which I didnt know at first). So I figure if I did have a problem, the guarantee wouldnt be totally honored. Hence the Meguiars this year.
