RE: Am I Just Naive

The age of the kids would worry me if that were my grandbabies on the road.

wood grained fridge replaced?

We just had to replace our woodgrained gas/electric fridge out of our 2001 5th wheel that quit. Is any of it worth trying to sell or just take it to the dump or wherever?

Beaufort,SC ...Islands

Any suggestions for around Beaufort, SC? I saw Hunters Island State Park and wondered how hard it is to get a spot during the summer?

Inside colors

I just wish I could snap my fingers and turn my 2001 Sierra 35 ft. 5th wheel inside colors to the neutral nstead of that odd blue/green color. It's the only thing wrong with it. What were they thinking when they did the pinks, blues and aqua colors? I've had a camper all of them over the years and keep coming back to the neutral color scheme to being the most restful. I would start ripping out, but my husband would have a fit.:)

RE: women driving 5th wheel

Ladies.....You all have provided inspiration for me to try to pull our 35 ft. 5th wheel. I've driven a 24ft motor home up and down mountains, pulled pop ups, 24 ft.5th wheel and boats up to 18 ft without running anyone off the road that I know of.....lol I want to learn how to pull our old 24 ft deck boat too... Our skinny little driveway is our worst nightmare. It's just a matter of watching the back wheels when I turned in with the other things. I'm 54 and been helping pull for 20 years.....:) It was either that or not the get both the popup and the boat to the lake when the kids were little.

switching out fridge

Hey, Just wondered if anyone would have an idea what to ask for a 2002 gas/electric fridge out of a 35 ft Sierra 5th wheel camper. It's probably about a 4 cubic foot or a little bigger. It has a separate freezer and wood panel front. I know they used to sell for about 1000.00 new and wondered if 500 would be unreasonable? I found a 9 cubic electric fridge/freezer on sale that I think we'd like better in our 5th wheel. We are going to put a new roof on this camper so I know we will be keeping it unless something crazy happens! thanks

RE: 10,000 lb 5th wheel and 2500 Diesel duramax?

Thanks for all the replies, sorry it took so long for me to get back but I was out of town! My husband read all the posts andfeel better about it! We decided to pay to have a new roof put on the 5th and keep it as long as we can. I will also ditch any heavy unnessary items on a long haul and use plastic as much as possible! That just seems logical. We're still gonna try to fix a little pop up for the mountains. One thing we did learn with the new injectors and fuel pump is that the mechanics said that we needed to add octane booster to our tank due to fuel at the pumps are only 22% octane and diesels require 38%! Thanks again! Melissa

10,000 lb 5th wheel and 2500 Diesel duramax?

We just had to put injectors and a fuel pump in our 2002 truck.$$ I am a little paranoid about trying to pull our 2002 35 ft 10,000 lb 5th wheel now due to NOT wanting to buy a transmission as well. Both are paid for and don't really want to sell, but want some opinions of those that have been had experience with this set up. So what do you think? So far we have only pulled it to the beach and a local lake for month long stays. We bought a popup to try to fix so we can take that to the Smokies, but as usual more was wrong with it than we thought so it may take awhile.

RE: front and roof of pup

Thanks for the link....we just weren't expecting the box to need it as well. We were lucky to get it home with that heavy a/c on top. Thing is we KNOW BETTER, it's ALWAYS worse than it looks!!! I just had a momentary lapse of insanity wanting to go farther than a local fishing hole on a budget!!

RE: front and roof of pup

After opening it up again yesterday and really having time to look through it there is more rot than we thought. The bottom back corner is rotted about a foot on the back and side and will have to be replaced or braced where the back pole was bent. Obviously, water got in even tho it had a tarp on it.The top has to be completely rebuilt since the front side is rotted as well. It really is disgusting cause the inside is in near perfect condition. I don't know what we are going to do. I just know we are not going anywhere in it anytime soon as I had planned.
