RE: baby proofing the doors?

If you have the outside grab bar, from inside, reach through the slider and rotate the grab bar across the screen door. It can only open an inch then.

RE: How many cats is too many?

I say go for it. They are loved and wanted: lots of cats can't report that. Your plan sounds safe for them, and as you say, it's only temporary. Get a good vacuum.

Guess what's under the carpet?

Long story short: hot weather/hose clamp loosened/flooded carpet/smell (pets)/tore it out cuz it never would have dried here (Louisiana)/VOILA! The fake hardwood vinyl flooring was laid throughout! Looks nice, can barely see the tack holes from the edging strip. Left the carpet on the slide, it didn't get wet and doesn't get dirty, looks sort of like an area rug. Nice ending to a bad day.

RE: Real world gas mileage?

We average 20 at 60mph, and 10 towing. On one long, windy day in West Texas, averaged 6.

"I plan to spend the whole time north of Guadalajara." We get'em all out at WHR, no issues.

RE: A Way to Help Each Other in When in Trouble?

What good is a tow service if they will not tow both vehicles, I would be looking for another tow service. A wrecker cannot tow a truck and a fifth wheel. Think about it! If they use a flat bed, that will not work either. Trust me, I am in emergency services, it isn't as easy as it seems. Why do you think Good Sams had trouble finding someone who could tow it? Considering the number of times I've seen a heavy duty wrecker towing a disabled tractor with trailer attached, it certainly can be done. We also had a wrecker tow us (truck and fiver), we were only 5 miles from the Chevy dealership. Our insurance is National Interstate (Progressive?), and it was 1.5 hours from breakdown to arrival at the dealership. DH had filled the diesel tank with unleaded (BP all green pumps and a fatigued, distracted driver: bad mix.) $900 plus rental car.

RE: Possible New High End RV Park near Kino.

Thank you very much. I'm now crazily slapping the sides of my head, trying to get that picture OUT of there.

RE: Who will be where for Labor Day?

En route from Minnesota to Louisiana to caretake Mom for a few weeks (to give sis a break) and then on to Mexico for the rest of the winter.

RE: New RV Resort on Brainerd Lakes area

It's the first thing on the first page after "GO" "Be one of the first to level your Class A motorhome or park model on your privately owned lot at the most exclusive RV resort in Minnesota."

That's what their website says. They should fix that.

RE: campsites in new mexico

She said Santa Fe, but not when. I looked here New Mexico State Parks Map (About.com) and confirmed what I remembered: the two near Santa Fe I checked have electric but the water is a shared spigot up to 25 yards away. One other one shares a spigot between sites. And big rigs seemed fine.

RE: Possible New High End RV Park near Kino.

Someone just posted in the Campgrounds forum about a new high-end resort smack dab in the center of a prime fishing destination in Minnesota. For class A's and park models only. No prices mentioned. Don't know how busy they'll be, and for sure there's not many like it around there, but I'm betting it'll be too much for your average weekenders or even fulltimers. (Not to mention CANADIANS! :B) I think it AND your friend's proposal near Kino will need to advertise heavily to attract enough takers.

RE: What do you do when you fulltime?

Paparon, (I'm married to a Paparon!) I suspect there are many categories of fulltimers, but the one we're familiar with is more of a snowbird-type. We spend the winter in Mexico, see lots of the same folks regularly, but meet new ones all the time as they drift through our lives. Summers we stay near the kids/grandkids in a beautiful RV park in Minnesota, along with all the recreational/cultural opportunities Minnesota offers. I second Margie's recommendation re hobbies/libraries/state parks. And I know for a fact that volunteering is very rewarding and fills your days UP. You'll find your community, not to worry.
