RE: Summer trip from Southeastern PA to Badlands South Dakota

We have been there many times, Sturgis is Aug 4-10 this year so advoid week before Wall Drug is neat and don't miss Crazy Horse. The drive thru the hills is nice. We stay off the turnpike ,usually take the few miles on it to Washington PA then 40 to Indy and work our way north. You can overnight at the Cabellas in Mitchell and visit the Corn Palace nearby.

RE: Third Major Blue Ox Casualty

Was surprised that you had a failure. Towed a Chevy Cavalier 100,000 and a heavy van 20,000 always level then traded Aventa 11 in for another and have towed a Vue 20,000 miles. Never a problem with 3 baseplates and 2 bars. Good Luck

RE: Coach heat on 2004 Winnebago/Itasca 32V

Sorry to hear of your big expense. When our fan went on our Adventurer, we opted not to have that floor heat and the cab heat was enough.

RE: Elks Club membership

We have stayed at many Elk , Moose, VFW, and American Legion sites over the years. Most Elk lodges offer electric and a place to draw water, none of the ones we stayed at had FHU, and all expect a donation, some as high as $20. Austin TX wanted 20-30 for dry camping. If you are just looking for inexpensive places to stay I would suggest Passport America. We like to stay at the service clubs because they are usually friendly and we can get a good meal. PS just saw the post about the Florrisant Lodge, we stayed there many times while my sister in law was living. Great bunch of folks.

RE: Knoebels in Elysburg PA

We have stayed at J and D and at the old Knoebles campground. When we had a popup the old one was fine. We stayed for several days there in the MH but the sites were tight so then we stayed outside the park and drove the car in. Knoebles Lake Glory campground is in Catawissa PA as is J and D. Some of the reviewers on rvparkreviews.com have the 2 Knoebles campgrounds mixed up are are writing reviews for both on the Elysburg one.

RE: Help w/Streets and Trips...

I use waypoints to program the Garmin the way I want to go and print the streets and trips out. I have been wondering if sending streets to the Garmin will take up space as I have already added a card to the GPS.

RE: Just some plain advise

In Alaska, slow down on the frost heaves, we never had any problems, it would take a lot to bend a rim. Last year our Michelin tires were 500, doubt price has increased that much. Appliances, think frige and washer would have to die to cost $3500. If you want an extended war, check Good Sam probably cheaper and would cover TV's

RE: Supplemental Braking System

Never any problems with the Patroit in 3 years and 11,000 miles of use. My signature needs updated and I haven't figured it out yet.lol

RE: Good Sam Trip Router

I used to use AAA , then checked it against a map.(Did Alaska that way) Now I usually just use a map and the GPS. Did a 8500 mile US trip that way last year.

RE: Coach Net, FMCA I'm confused, which is nothing new

We will stick with Coach Net, towed once 12 years ago. Driver under the MH on a 6 lane highway, took us to the nearest safe dealership, not the nearest as it was in East ST. Louis. They also offer tech support,

RE: Feelings about Park Models...

I think that you will find here in FL, a lot of the park models are owned by former RV'ers. We own a lot, sometimes we use it, sometimes we rent it out but I suspect when we are too old to drive this rig. the lot will sprout a park model.

RE: Orlando Fl. camping

Lake Magic an Encore park on 192 W is a straight shot to I-4 and downtown Orlando. There are campgrounds near Winter Garden on rt 50 straight shot to International Drive or downtown Orlando. Both are closer than Lake Louisa. Old Town has 50's Rock and Roll on Wed night and that era cars. Western singer 4-6 on Sundays and western band 6-8 Good luck.

RE: Washer and Dryer

We have a Splendide . If you have room for a stack go for it. They hold much more especially if there are more than 2 of you.

RE: Living in class A

Even with dual pane windows, you can get condensation, just by breathing and cooking. As was suggested crack a vent, When we had our Adventurer which did not have dual windows, running a small fan helped by moving the air around.

RE: The snowbird crowd is ageing

Pensions. My son at 53 just saw his go to China and Mexico. Johnson Controls, air conditioning and ice makers for arenas. Greedy Corporate outsourcing jobs has made it harder for the young to retire with the money our generation has. We started snowbirding in our 50's and the younger ones have to work longer. After reading the above post, will change snowbird to follow the sun traveling as we seldom stay in one place for long.
