RE: Buying a Rental Class C. How many of us out there? (Long)

Our 24 foot rental did not come from CA but from a private dealer so it has electric steps a hitch and an awning. It also only had 14,000 miles. It all depends on what you are going to use it for. We had a pusher with all the bells and whistles and lived in it in the winter. Now all we want to do are camping trips and cross country trips so we can handle small quarters and don't mind leaving it sit for months at a time. We don't miss all the maintenance that we had on the big rig so there are pros and cons depending on what you plan to do. I'm sure on a rainy day with 3 of our great grands it will seem really small. lol I'm looking forward to see how it tows our Vue this summer with the tow-haul I hope it will have enough power.

RE: Traveling without a spare tire

We took 2 class A's to Alaska, both mounted on a rim, didn't need them but felt it was good insurance. Have one on our lil C too.

RE: Safety in the RGV

Tom that is FL too, we always look to see if cars are stopped before we enter intersections. That said we own property in FL but until recently always stayed in the Vally every 3rd year and sometimes more often.. We never felt unsafe in the Mission area but always took the same precautions that we take here near Orlando.

RE: Dentures made in Progreso, Mexico?

I had a Valplast partial made at the Apple clinic 6 years ago. My home dentist commented on the excellent work that was done.

RE: Tow Bars

Blue Ox, be careful buying used, we traded ours in after 100,000 miles as we were concerned about metal fatigue. We have had both the Brake Buddy and the Blue Ox Brake, both are nice in that you can change them between different cars.

RE: winter road south

I would stay off 81, lots of mountains. We sometimes take 81 home in the spring. We need to return North next week and will stick to 95 when coming back in January. Usually warmer on the coast, although we did hit a snowstorm on 95 one year. Learned never to get off 95 in North or South Carolina, they have no equipment in that area.

RE: Brake assistance for towed vehicle.

We presently have a Patroit, before that a Brake Buddy. 3 motorhomes and 3 different toads in 15 years, it was easy to use between cars.

RE: Manchester 18 gal propane tank valve failure

I found a propane dealer who will look at it in the spring, I'm sure part and labor would be less than my warranty deductible.

Manchester 18 gal propane tank valve failure

I bought a Winnebago 24 V Chalet(access) several months ago and just discovered that the tank will not shut off. The only thing we didn't check on our full day PDI inspection. Never heard of a valve failure and we have owned 5 previous rigs plus a rig he had and myself. I suspect it may have been bad from the factory and no one noticed. Two dealers told me the entire tank needs replaced and my propane dealer knows of no one who works on the tanks. I will call Manchester tomorrow, thought we could just have the valve done. Has anyone ever had or heard of this problem? Thx

RE: Fridge On or Off?

I've usually left it off on all our rigs, stays cold a good 12 hours even running in the desert or extremely hot weather. We never drive more than 10 hours.

RE: RV Park Reviews

I have probably posted at least 30 reviews on reparkreviews.com and 52 on Tripadvisor.com . They were not gamed as 4x4 seemed to think. In fact I called a hotel in NY a brothel and it was printed word for word.( I didn't book this hotel as a tour leader did even tho I told him it had bad reviews) I have used both sites for years and had a good idea of what we were getting. I would have doubts about Good Sam as some of their higher rated parks were not all that great.

RE: Flordia in January?

Read rvparkreviews.com to get a feel for the parks you are asking about. Red Cocoanut is very pricy.

RE: RV Trip Planning Software?

Still using S&T 2013 I figure roads haven't changed that much, use with Garmin and an updated paper map. Will check out RVparky.com

RE: Route 66 Travels?

We did it everywhere we could find it, some places it runs along the highway but is in too bad a shape to take big rig.

RE: SE Pa to Florida

With the flooding and it's aftermath I would stay away from 26, take 81S to Winchester 64 to 15, you will come out on 95 near Fredricksburg and miss the DC traffic, If 95 exits are still closed take 81 to 75 to 1-10 E to Jacksonville and down 95. Oh and it's easier to give directions if you give your town. SE PA covers a lot of ground. Good Luck

RE: What to do Columbus Day Weekend in Gettysburg PA

You are also not far from Antietam National Park at Sharpsburg, MD scene of the worst battle of the Civil War.

RE: What would you offer for this RV?

In June I paid 35,000 for a 2012 with 14,000 miles, in pristine condition, with 2014 tires. The one you are looking at did not show a TV , I would offer him less just because of the leak. Don't know what is under the roof. When I was looking in FL last winter, I didn't see any 16/17 year old rigs listed that high.

RE: How accurate is NADA for class c pricing?

Asking and selling is 2 different things, I sold my pusher for 10,000 less than NADA and bought this class C for 6,000 less than NADA

RE: Ford E350/E450 Door Window Privacy Pop-Open Thingies

The ones made for compact cars might fit, I use the old ones off the pusher for the dinette and bedroom windows, keeps a lot of heat out as we don't have dual pane on this MH. I had 2 of the small ones with the suction cups(use to block sun from baby)that I am using on the cab side windows along with the reg front pop out ones. Those along with the cab curtains really make a difference with heat.
