RE: Hybrid camping in Yellowstone....which is your fav CG?

I noticed many people said they used a generator. Do you recommend one? Again, we're rookies! :) Yup, You will use more battery than expected in Yellowstone due to heat and lights. I ran for a couple of hours every day, but that was only for four nights. A fellow down the way had a quiet generator and it was really noticeable versus my not so quiet one.

RE: eating lunch at the fuel pumps

You should just walk to the front of his rig and look around like you are wondering what is blocking him and if he is okay. Nice friendly RV people usually try to help and they may be having a problem. You don't have to say anything confrontational. Had that happen in Minnesota once.

RE: Mother Nature BOOO!

Still cold north of the border as well. Snow in front of my house is still 3'. My fishing gear for May 4&5 could include an auger!!

RE: To EcoBoost or Not...

I do this exercise every year when the manufactures tempt me with sales. I still recall pulling my brick in a cross wind and having the rpms run very high. I have not traded the exhaust cleaning smell for new car smell, although when it really stinks I am tempted. Hard to go backwards in anything in life.

RE: Aftermarket tow mirrors

On my first TT I bought clip-on extensions and they are a waste of money. These parts look like OEM replacements so worth a try. Can't help with the vendor but cost is low enough to give them a try.

RE: What Did You Do For Your Travel Trailer Recently?

Found a set of Corelle dishes on clearance at Walmart. $60 marked down to $20. Score! Secure the cupboard doors. Corelle makes a real mess when it explodes after being tossed from the cupboards. Trust me - the million little shards are sharp and get buried in the carpet.

RE: Slide outs good or bad?

My 29' TT has a large deep slide, yeah it adds to the weight and I do sweep off the top to prevent leaves and needles from decorating my inside before it gets pulled in. But I, and everyone who sees inside when it is out, are surprised at the homey feel you get inside. I know any mechanical thing can fail. So I have learned how to retract it should something go wrong and I really hope never to use that knowledge.

RE: Anybody rig up an outside projector and screen?

I used a portable screen and a laptop projector. Screen was set up under the awning, and the projector on an overturned storage tub. The sound was from two small computer speakers hooked up to the laptop. I did this when I led a group hike and had a documentary to show the group the evening before. Real nice by the campfire - worked well but by keeping the sound low it was hard to hear sometimes. Works for a one off but too much fuss for a regular event.

RE: What NOT to plug into a MSW inverter.

Home Theater system buzzed when ran off my 1800w system. Kids turned it off and played a game instead. Think I will keep it.

RE: No more Bell Satelite

I mainly play in Canada and close to the border, so this may not affect me too much. That and my batting average for finding the satellite is slightly better than the Bombers were this year. I second the set up in the RV - the shaw direct tech aligned the dish and set it up when it was strapped to my ladder parked in my driveway.

Just be aware that you may lose Shaw Direct next year. why?

RE: The Jay Flight 32BHDS Is In The... Driveway!

Mine drops about the same in the rear - more of a squat than I like. the entire unit is headed to the dealer in the spring to get the level adjusted. For the time it will take me plus the cost of a couple of wrenches that will fit, I will just pay the dealer the hundred bucks to set it up. What did the previous owner tow with? I assumed from your post that the hitch came with the Jayco.

RE: The Jay Flight 32BHDS Is In The... Driveway!

You should feel the wind at the gas pump, the 6.4 as you know is a thirsty one. My trailer is a bit shorter but we are close on the weight. I have a reese WDH and bars with a friction sway and I don't feel the wagging unless its real bad gusty prairie cross winds. The F350 has lots of traction in rain and I need to replace the 35" procomps I run. I don't have the hitch height dialed in and run a real heavy Tounge weight. I stop like a dime as well. I know its back there on acceleration as the rpms go up to 2500 to 3000. I take it off tow haul if its having a problem finding the right gear and the rpms drop back. Maybe when you load it up it will ride better. I recall not enjoying my first tow when I loaded everything too far back. Lastly - congrats I must say that is a great combo.

RE: SAt Signal detector

I found one local, try a place like the source or radio shack. (do they still exist?) should be under 10 bucks and is powered by the LNB. It does take a bit of juice off the signal when you use it. Tells you you have a bird - just not which one. This is kind of what mine looks like. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Satellite-Finder-Signal-Meter-Sat-Dish-LNB-DirecTV-/330811873041?pt=US_Signal_Finders&hash=item4d05ec9711

RE: Decisions, decisions

From your list of options, I would go Ram. I looked at them earlier this year and they have some real nice comfortable trucks. My TT likes the oil burner hauling it, but if I did not need it - I would consider a Ram and a Ford.

RE: "Max Vehicle Length" (campsite restriction)

FOUND THE FAQ Page...makes a HUGE difference: Q. Does the vehicle length include the trailer and the tow vehicle? A. The vehicle length listed on the website is only the length of the actual camping vehicle. It does not include the tow vehicle. Glad you got it all sorted out :B. The campsite phots on the booking pages are a huge help when picking a site. It has only happened a few times where I have had to park parallel to the road to fit my truck on the site with my trailer. Guess that is what you get forcing a 34ft (ball to bumber) in to a 30ft spot.

RE: "Max Vehicle Length" (campsite restriction)

I feel your pain, It usually says somewhere on the booking FAQ page, but here is what I use: If Max Length - I use entire length (truck and trailer) If it says equipment I use trailer length only. Good Luck
