RE: Desert camping w/ freezing temps

Not worried about the lines inside the trailer while I am using it and storage isn't an issue (it is San Diego after all). The line underneath I wrapped in hot water pipe insulation, cheap and easy to install. The water tank is too large to freeze easily.
You can always look at wrapping the tank in blanket style insulation or electric blankets designed for this purpose. Water bed heaters can also be adapted if you have electricity. You didn't mention if you had exposed or wrapped underbelly on the trailer, a little plywood to block the wind and a small propane style heater (or lantern) can go a long way to warming things up in the morning if you have frozen lines, it's really only the 5-10 feet of exposed line you have to worry about.
I would avoid open flame as most of your trailer is flammable if it gets hot enough.

RE: HOW MANY WW FS2300/FS2500 OWNERS

FSC3200 - Already went bigger! :B
Love the "C" center kitchen layout. Really like the rest of the trailer and would not hesitate to buy another WW FS/C again (if that was possible).

RE: ?WW coiled water hose pin holes?

Mine is still in perfect shape (almost 4 years) but I store it inside the trailer for security. You should have no problem finding one in any garden center, they have become very popular for home use.
And you're right, it's not a pressure washer but not too bad for rinsing things off. I wouldn't want to try it on a super muddy toy though...

RE: Non Commercial A Test - Help

They told me that having passed the written was enough to get it down there and back for the driving portion but that I should carry proof of passing the written with me. I wonder if they know what they are talking about (then or now) :h
Good luck!

RE: WW ramp door latch seized

I don't have my trailer handy (2006 WW) but will be able to take a look tonight if no one else has one handy. I know the latches on mine are built by Polar, same company makes locks and doors for semi trailers as well. It might be a grind and weld job, no bolts to work loose over time but you are right, tough for the DIY to maintain.
You did mean the latch and not the hinge, correct?
Good Luck

RE: Flat tire question?

"Leaky" tires always end up going flat sometime during a ride and destroying the tube and sometimes the tire. Either find the leak and patch it or replace the tube.
If you take it in make sure you tell the shop what the problem is and that they need to inspect the tire from the inside. There can frequently be a thorn sticking just into the inside that you can't see from the outside. When I say thorn I don't mean rose, I mean Ocotillo bush, 3-4" long and strong enough to pierce leather, rubber, denim and dang near anything else it gets into. Especially when they have cured in the desert sun.
If you do the change yourself make sure you check for this. It only takes a couple of extra minutes to pull the full tire off and inspect it. Just focus on not pinching the tube while putting it back in.
With 15 bikes (includes kids) in our camp on a busy weekend it's something we do ourselves all the time but you can almost always find a local guy willing to do it for $20 plus parts.

RE: Sagging Wall Advise Anyone?

I had a different issue with the same look! Those pictures could easily have come from my trailer, especially the wheel well box lifting. The outriggers were fine but the bottom of the wall was made from a non structural 2x4 (labelled vertical use only). Must have been done on a Friday or Monday. It was that joined stuff. Sure enough over time the joins bent. I had the local trailer repair place remove the aluminum siding from the back to the wheel well, jack the wall up just enough to slide 2 pieces of angle iron in and create a steel over wood sandwich. That seems to have done the trick, that section of wall has been fine since. Replacing the wood entirely would have been really expensive and putting an outrigger every 4 inches didn't seem like a good solution. I would also concur that adding the ones in the wheel well are a good idea.
Good luck!

RE: Ocotillo Wells SRVA Clean Up

Anyplace to get more information on this? I'll be there with about 20 friends, we camp over at County Line but that's a short haul and we can pick up lots of trash in between...

RE: ONAN 5500 GOLD MARQUIES ????

Might change your fuel filter while you are at it if it has one.
It has one attached to the carburetor. I would recommend getting a 1/8" fitting to 1/4" fuel line adapter and putting that in instead. Then add a clear filter inline somewhere and carry a spare. It's a low pressure fuel system so hose clamps are fine. I just had mine start leaking and have the replacement parts in the toolbox. You will find other posts on this subject but basically the design of the original filter is poor and poorly placed for ease of maintenance.

RE: ONAN 5500 GOLD MARQUIES ????

They are made to be worked on without having to be removed. Having said that I make no assurance that it's easy or that you won't have to go purchase some U-Joint swivels for your socket. Removing the air cleaner enclosure is recommended and easy.
And I recommend doing it cold since you might find yourself with both arms and part of your head stuck in there. :)

RE: Need GLAMIS advice

"JSGrewal" has it right, just go! Getting your pass ahead of time (not at Glamis) will save you some money.
As to driving on something other than asphalt:
1. If you are going to drive on sand and it's hard packed sand, you will be OK if you keep moving. Don't dig in if your tires spin, get out and air ALL 4 of them on the truck to 15lbs. If you are still stuck, air down the trailer too.
2. If you have a portable air compressor, bring it. If not someone will have one you can borrow.
3. Everyone gets stuck sometime, it's nothing to panic about. Air down, dig out, and try again. It's part of the experience of sand camping.
Oh, and have fun.

RE: 50% Chance of rain in the desert this week

Rain mid week but the forecast shows triple digits Friday/Saturday. Usually a no brainer after a rain but I'm not sure I want to run the A/C all day...
Of course it would get me out of the honey do's at home...

RE: Just made a deal on a Weekend Warrior... Need Advice!

The FSC should have a C channel frame, not the square tube used on the FS2600. There were no problems with the C channel frames.
There was a problem with weight capacity and the 2 axle design, you will want to run E rated (or higher) tires to get the most from them. It would not be a good candidate for hauling a jeep but should be fine for bikes and quads.
I love my FSC3200 and there are no other problems I know of with the 2005 models. I always recommend that you check the interior very closely for water marks on the wallpaper, especially at the front in the cabinets of the bedroom (assuming they are in the same place as mine). Any discoloration in the wallpaper is caused by water leaking from the roof/front cap.
Enjoy!

RE: Need new tires for the Warrior

I went to Discount Tire, they carried the Transmaster, E rated, 10 ply tires. Price was right since I was buying 7 of them and the last set of D rated held up really well. The E might be a little overkill but that's a good idea on tires.
I know there have been lots of complaints with the Greenball tires but properly loaded the Transmaster series has worked fine for me. I talked to the guy at Discount, he said they wouldn't even carry the D rated anymore because the E rated was only about $3 more per tire and held up better for larger trailers.
7 tires plus tax, mounted, balanced, installed for just under $1,000. And Discount has a great road hazard policy.

RE: WW FS2500 Beds wont come down

Mine has a direct run to the battery and a fuse at the battery. I was surprised it wasn't running through the side panel like the rest of the 12V.

RE: Class A Non Commercial

So when you are backing up tp a dock? Do you start at an ahgle or straight in? I have been procrascinating on this and should take it. I have a 40ft trailer but my friend told me I can use his bumper pull 30ft. Im going to take him up on the offer.
Mine was a 90 degree turn into a parking space with cones, a makeshift dock. It wasn't that tough with my 35' bumper pull but I had a fair amount of experience with bumper tow from boats.

RE: Class A Non Commercial

All I can suggest is that you take the trailer out to and empty parking lot (or other suitable open space) with 4 cones to simulate the dock and practice. If you don't have cones find something you can safely run over. I had no problems with the dock parking but almost lost it when he asked me to "pull within 3 feet of this cone and stop". My hood was a solid 2 feet taller than the cone, I lost sight of it at about 6 feet out. The tester was in a good mood and said that 2 feet 14 inches was close enough. He couldn't see the cone either :) and had to get out and look.
Now that you know what to expect you can practice the spots you had trouble with and pass no problem. I did some practice myself after the fact because I had trouble with positioning the inside trailer wheels in a slow turn.
I wasn't expecting to have to retake the M1 written either, spent about 4-5 minutes with the book and took it with fingers crossed, wasn't a problem but had me nervous for a few minutes.
Good luck!

RE: Fresh water question

I usually store mine with water in it, sometimes for months. I usually take that opportunity to sanitize the water tank (chlorine or sanitizer), then dump and rinse with fresh water, then fill. Need to purge the lines as well but that's a quick job. Only thing to "prevent" is getting sanitizer into the on board water filter. Good time to change it -or- just cap it off.

RE: Class A Non Commercial

The Pre inspection got me, brand new truck and they wanted to make sure I checked the belts and hoses. The driving was educational, they found the only steep hill in the area, wanted to make sure I was checking intersections both ways and signs, move your head alot so it's obvious to them. I ran over the edge of the cone on the "90 degree turn with the trailer tires within a couple of feet of the cone" test.
Passed no problem but having time to practice a few of those would have made it less stressful for me. It was my first rig bigger than a boat, he was blown away at how well I did with backing it up. Push enough boats down a ramp and that's the easy part.
Good luck!
