RE: Planning a day trip (or 2) to Silverwood Lake.

The best place to tent it around there would be the pinnacles camp ground. There are lots of trails up there, mix of fire road, 2 track and single track. Green sticker (may 1) and sparky required.

RE: IS any one listening???

I want big windows and seating on the curb side, the fridge, kitchen and all the stuff that takes up the wall space can go on the other side. If I am camping in the dez or at a park, I want to know what is going on at my camp, not my neighbors.

RE: Non-skid ramp gate

You have to remove the rubber diamond plate and then put down the grip tape, it woun't stick long to the rubber.

RE: Installing A Third Axle on a Weekend Warrior Question

You would have to build new wheel wells inside and out, adding a third axel is going to be major construction.

RE: Free ice in the desert

Wow, big investment to save $50-70 a trip, you will have that paid for in 28-40 trips. That would take me 5-8 years, so not for me. Great write up!

RE: Recommendation on TH and Tent camping destinations

Look for "group camp sites" I think Emma Woods up in ventura on the coast has them or even right here in the canyon at O'neil regional park have them. Some places don't let tents and RVs intermingle, so you could be at the same campground but might have to walk to get to the tent area.

RE: Where to buy generator

An RV magazine just did a comparison between a honda and a newer brand called Powerhouse and seemed to really like the powerhouse and price was about 35% less....or course there was a full page ad by Powerhouse in that edition.

RE: Powerlite Toy Haulers - Looking for Opinions/Quality

Attitude has stood the test of time. Pacific Coach works is a new company and untested as to the quality of their products, customer service and warranty.

RE: New bumper pull toy haulers certainly are heavy.

Van has a frame mounted hitch, I'm definitely not using the bumper. It's the specs on the Voltage that give me pause:
From the Voltage website:
Unloaded Weight 11,464
Hitch Weight 2,342
Cargo Capacity 5,036
I think the website is wrong, those look more like 5er weights....there is not standard truck in production that will tow those specs as a tow behind 16,500lbs loaded (at least I don't thnk there is, most stop at 12,000lbs)

RE: How to keep dirt out?!?!

We don't allow shoes/boots inside, really cuts down the dirt. Funny this rule is only in the MH, not at the house.

RE: Carbon Monoxide issue with new TH

buy a seperate sensor from home depot as a back up....mine would go off if you ate too many beans, after opening up all the windows a few times in the 30's I bought a back up and eventually ended up replacing the original one with a new one.
Interesting! So you felt the factory detector was just too sensitive and you're not worried that there is CO in the air.
It was defective....or worn out they do have an expiration date on them, I replaced it with a new OEM one and have a seperate home depot one as back up. So yes it was either too sensitive or reading things that weren't really there. It hasn't gone off since I replaced the detector.

RE: Fuzion Toy Hauler Verses Eclipse

In the price range they are looking they might have to settle for Raptor, Keystone didn't offer fusion models until 07 or 08. Also if they can I would advise them to go for a model with figerglass sides, they are so much easier to clean and wax than the aluminumn siding.

RE: Generator install help

They are normally on the drive/street side and the 2nd access/bay door back from the front, so not the one where the storage is under the bed, but the next large one back from it.

RE: New to RVing and buying 1st toy hauler

Thanks for all of the info, this is a great resource. I've checked and I'm told the armada with tow package is rated for 9k lbs and tongue weight of 900 which I guess does not leave room for error when loading the deck. I have two bikes totaling about 600 lbs give or take, but I liked the idea of carrying 4. Now it seems that's probably not wise with a front deck hauler.
I will check some of the other suggested models. With a tongue weight of 900 lbs, do I have many options? I'd like to carry two adult and two kids bikes. My wife likes the idea of the bikes outside because she's worried about gas smell lingering in the trailer. Is that a real concern? I tell her 4 strokes aren't as bad :)
There is no gas smell if you turn off the gas and run the engine until it dies or drain the carb before loading. The only time there is gas smell is if gas leaks out somehow. Not really an issue.
