If you do decide to go with a slide, you might want to put a priority of being able to still use the truck camper when the slide is in. b This was definitely one of our priorities - it falls under one of our prioritized categories, functionality.

RE: Alpenlite Questions

All I can say is that you're probably right about the 4K loaded weight. We really like our 2004 Alpenlite, though it is not that model.

RE: The Emotions in a TC

My DW has had the same thoughts about the use of the truck for dump runs and the like, but fortunately she is a confirmed TC addict for the same reasons many have mentioned. We kept our TC even when our sons got bigger, and tho it was a little bit of a squeeze for them we all have nothing but the fondest memories of our camping treks. Now we have a much bigger and better TC and take the grandkids (still not teenagers) with us. We have an outside shower that serves us well. We're totally happy!

RE: Lots of crazy weather this week anyone "prepping" their TC?

The only thing I am prepping for is my upcoming trip to view the Sandhill Crane migration near Grand Island, Nebraska. I'll be out there by the 2nd week of March. Here in Colorado we are 50+ degrees one day and 25 the next. Hoping for a warm week while sitting in a blind waiting for the show. We have a sandhill migration stop here in N. Cal., too - near Lodi. They are magnificent birds - great article about your "flocks" in the March "Smithsonian". Hope you're able to see them en-mass. We're on our way to Pinnacles National Monument this week. It's our second time out in the last two weeks after an 18-month hiatus for illness - wow, it's great to be back out! Looking for wildflowers this time after the rains (finally). We may be a little early... We hope the weather in the rest of the country behaves itself for you guys back East.

RE: Interesting trip to say the least

Good report. Good thing the wife's okay. Boy, you sure look determined in the "ready to go" picture - much more relaxed in the remaining ones - GREAT! Thanks for the report.

RE: Cool way to keep cupboard doors closed

Doubt the magnetic that close to the hinge would provide much securing force. On our fifth wheel, we used these child safety locks. You use the magnetic key each time to open or on the first open, switch the red lever and it remains unlocked. Flip the level again to resume locking. We use these, too; and they definitely lock the doors. We're happy with this fix, as the standard latches were not effective always.
