RE: best TT brands

I think you need to take in a few R/V shows. Not to buy but to look and take notes. Choose the floor plan, then the brand, then talk with dealer. So many choices out there and when they are all parked next to each other it is easy to compare.

RE: Beginner Fender Benders

You should have a spotter in tight places, but you also need to learn how to use those mirrors on the front sides of your rig. Sounds like you had one backing hit on the sign but the other ones involved the sides of your rig which you should have been able to see in your mirrors before the hit. Take your time and double check if you are not sure you can make it.

RE: Should head be Loose on Shank.

Be sure not to use that setup before you get things good and tight. If the head slips on the washers it will tear up the teeth on the head and washers.

RE: Window Water Intrusion & Weep Holes Question

Take the pic showing the water to the dealer and set a time for them to repair/replace under warranty. Have them check the rest while it is there. Looks like the window installer was sick and the janitor did yours. That is not weep that is leak

RE: Taking the Trailer Hunting in November

driving home, I would leave open the low point drains and the faucets, open the water tank drain, run the pump to clear it,and drain the toilet and line. put some antifreeze in the drain traps. Might not freeze up in the 8 hour trip but why chance it.

RE: Put hole in trailer

Ask for a nice big "Good Sam" sticker to put over the patch. They hand the darn things out even when you don't want one.

RE: "How to back up a trailer without filing for divorce"

I do the backing, DW gives no directions. DW only says stop if we are about to hit something. We walk the site before to talk about what is the best position. If she does not like the way it is going in I stop, get out and we talk some more and walk around it. Much easier without the "this way - that way" nonsense. I still need to remind her to watch the roof. When I am planning and then backing I focus on where the trailer wheels need to be not the rear bumper etc. Draw a line where the trailer wheels should roll and follow it. If you can mark it in your head fine but feel free to use a stick to draw in the dirt or some chalk on the pavement if needed the first few times. We have the radios and sometimes use them. We do not talk, I listen for the only allowed word "stop". Very good advice, We don't use radios just hand signals and the STOP word. I stop if I can't see her in the mirrors so she knows to move into view again. YOU need to watch the front of the truck so YOU don't hit something with it. She will never let it go if you smak something. Working this way will get you into even the very tough places without problems.

RE: Very dissatisfied Jayco customer:(

That mess needs to be cleaned up now instead of by you when it is time to reseal.

RE: FM Radio Reception

The tv antenna is used for FM on some rigs. When my FM was not working it was a bad cable connection on a splitter from main cable to the radio.

RE: Trailer Hitch "Bottoms-Out"

If your hitch shank is pointed down and happens to be extra long you could either have a couple inches cut off or exchange it for one not as long. I wouldn't add a wheel to the bottom of the shank as you might remove enough weight from the rear axle to be stuck in the driveway. Building ramps to bridge the low spot in the driveway will also work. If you remove the spring bars the rear of the tow rig might drop too much and cause additional problems.

RE: SHOCKING question

I think you need to either run a ground to that plugin or remove it from service.

RE: round number cost of linex spray in bed liner

Talk to the dealer, he can get it sprayed cheaper than you can in most cases.

RE: spray in vs drop in bed liners

spray in liner for sure. I have Line-x in my pickup and Rhino in my 69 El Camino. Line-x is harder than the Rhino but either are better by far than the drop in type.

RE: Aftermarket Clutch For 2007 Dodge 3500 RAM

Might look at a Center Force also. My son replaced his with one is very happy with it.

RE: Weight Distributing Hitch - what size?

I would buy the 1,200 lb. bars, better to be over rated by 250 lbs than under rated by 50. Ride might be a bit stiffer but it is easier to transfer the weight with the heavier bars.

RE: Hitch upgrade for chevy 2500hd

+ one for the Titan hitch. I have the 07 Classic, I fought the factory hitch for a year. Changed it out for a drawtite square tube 2" as I don't have as much tongue weight as you. You will not transfer much weight with the factory hitch and it could crack at any time.

RE: Dual Cam re-location

I am thinking of moving my frame attachment forward a bit. Looking at them I could gain space between the bars and the coupler. Only thing stopping me is the new holes within an inch of the old in the frame. Glad you ask the question.

RE: Propane vs electric heat

Depending on where your water lines run you may want to use the propane furnace when it gets cold to heat the underbelly of the rig.

RE: 1st weekend dry camping. issues.

we now have zero hot watet, even after I refilled the fresh tank. cold water flows out of the hot faucet. I also have a small red light on my tank meter switch board that I haven't seen turned on before. it could be a warning light, but there's no description. I our propane is full and been running our fridge and range all weekend. either my hot water tank is faulty, or its not refilled. im totally stumped. If it is windy at all and the water heater vent is catching the wind, that could be the problem with the flame. Other problem I have had with water heater flame, during rain storms water running down side of tt can flood out the water heater. Our heater is in line with rain gutter downspout.
