RE: Duo Therm AC freezing up

Clean the dirt and dust off the coils.
Make sure the freeze sensor is still in place on the coils.
During high humidity times run the fan on continuous and high.
The high fan helps to melt any frost or ice during the compressor off cycles.

RE: best wheel bearing grease for TH with zirk/greasable hubs

Good list! The key is a high drop point temp. Many of the cheap generic brands do not meet this requirement and separate.

RE: Replacing Dometic 150000 btu roof AC unit

Same make and model is a piece of cake.
Take digital photos of all the wire connections.
One or two buddies to help get it on to the roof and old one off.
Some plywood or old carpeting to set old and new unit on so you do not cut the roof material.
Turn off all AC power (breaker if isolated to one breaker) and unhook battery.
Detach wires coming in from thermostat and AC power.
Pull 4 bolts and lift out of opening.
Clean area and replace roof seal, carefully drop new unit in hole, re attach 4 hold down bolts.
Re attach all the power and thermostat wires as per above photo.
Flip breaker on and power up unit.

RE: Dump station questions

I have never seen a dump station that did not require the use of a hose to dump. We generally have the park number handy and would call the gate before they could get out of the park if I saw it happen.

RE: What to buy to replace XP?

... They generally work faster than a new system from BestBuy. Why? Because they do not have all the BS tial software and other junk the stores load on to them that compete for memory and resources.
Not necessarily so. Trial software does not effect the performance of a computer, it may use up disk space that you want to use for other purposes but removing trial software won't help the performance of a system.
However, many companies install little helper programs that run constantly in the background, checking for program updates and stuff like that, those types of program do effect performance because they run all the time using memory and cpu resources.
Some do if you try any of them out since they often add files to the operating system or try to alter the version if the current file is not one it can use. Many of these often do not get removed if you decide to un-install.

RE: What to buy to replace XP?

Have a friend with XP desktop that is about to bite the dust. She was asking if I got new computer what would I get, Windows 7 or 8, etc(I have XP also). I have Windows 7 on a laptop but haven't used it a lot so I'm not really in a place to give her any advice. (I don't think she'd be interested in a Mac.) Suggestions?
Why do you think it is fixing to bite the dust?
I have had several machines that use older operating systems because the drivers to not exist for some specialized equipment they run. All computers over time pick up artifacts from searching the web, adding apps, loading and deleting programs, etc. Each adds pieces of programing or changes programing that drags them down. I have taken several computers, cleared the harddrive or just replaced it with a new drive and reloaded the operating system and ONLY the programs I use (MS Office Pro, CAD and mapping, graphics, plot drivers, etc.). They generally work faster than a new system from BestBuy. Why? Because they do not have all the BS tial software and other junk the stores load on to them that compete for memory and resources.

RE: Fresh water tank question

I have the bottom off mine also, and the line is 1 1/2" up the side of the tank that part I have measured. I just dont know what there thinking when the design/build these things. The drains for the plumbing come out right in the middle of the trailer right above the middle axle, not exactly easy to get to. Would it have been that costly to use an extra 4 ft of half inch house and brought them over within reach of the side wall :h
The lines to drain the tanks should be near the bottom edge of the tank or in the floor of the tank. Any plumbing for access to valves should not be in or near the wheel wells. Reason is if a tire blows or separates the flailing tire tread will rip out any thing it wraps around or hits. It would most likely rip the plumbing out of the tank.

RE: $10,000 TV

My Tahoe setup
We first towed with a Tahoe and a similar rig. Check out the link above.
Would it be a good tow if it was 1000lbs less? I'm looking at a realistic tow weight of 4400-4600lbs. That's TT with 600-800 lbs of cargo,
The Tahoe was 4 wheel drive which detracts from the two wheel drive tow numbers. The Rockwood 2602S on paper dry was 4149# and the actual on the scale weight was 5748# with two 20# propane bottles full, camping gear but minimal water in the fresh tank (10 gal) and gray/black empty. I can tell you from experience it is very easy to exceed your 600# gear limit. You also have to figure in people, pets and fuel to your tow vehicle mass. Just trying to give you some realistic numbers to work with rather than speculation.

RE: Weather -How to know if tornados are predicted?

Carry a weather alert NOAA radio tuned to the nearest NOAA regional station. A good NOAA radio will sound an alert and give you the most current warning data. You don't have to be reading a screen or looking at your cell phone to hear information that is changing by the second during a bad storm. Cell phone reception is short range and can easily get disrupted, overloaded or you can be out of range crossing the mid-continent.

RE: Ripping mad

Well! By cutting the length of time the "Yellow" traffic light stays yellow by 0.3 seconds generated an additional BILLION dollars from traffic tickets revenue for Florida. I guess they were just doing it to slow the traffic down.:R

Unless everyone wakes up to change things we are going to continue to lose ground as wage earners and taxpayers.

RE: S. Padre Island KOA

I need to add to the DW's comments. At the time we were there the KOA was nearly empty due to a bunch of cancelations but they still stuck everyone next to each other in one small area. There was no reason for it.

RE: S. Padre Island KOA

We stayed when it was a private park, the sites are very close. DH open the awning that came within inches of the camper slideout next to us. Our friend who does not camp told us this would be the best one. We did drive over to the county park and did not see any problems other than it is not a KOA or resort. I was glad we only had plans to stay 3 days before moving up to Goose Island SP.
