RE: a post from another forum about TIP

Mexicowanderer. With regard to vehicle tracking and passport number. When you change your number you are not associated with the VIN. Of course if you try to import the same VIN you will be trapped. And indeed if you sell the car and the new owner tries to import there will be a problem.

RE: Zacatecas Pemex

We stopped there in March. They are working on the wall, and there was not enough room to get into the yard. There was no power or electric working in the yard. We stayed outside the yard for the night.

RE: a post from another forum about TIP

When you renew your passport - you get a new number. So far renewing your passport takes you off their data base.

RE: a post from another forum about TIP

Yes the car VIN is tied to the passport number. If he happened to get a new passport he is safe. But if not, even if he tries to bring in another car he is hooped because his passport number shows importing a car and not returning the TIP. The question is -how does he return the TIP after the 6 month deadline?

a post from another forum about TIP

The following question was posed on Tomzap and I know he has caused himself a serious problem by not turning in his hologram and Temp import permit. I know there is expertise here so please respond and I will direct Jim to this forum for responses> "Hello from Lake Havasu. I just discovered this site and got a couple of answers already. We have a home in Jocotopec and drove there last year. I got the import permit on line, and stopped at the station just outside of Sonoyta on Hwy 2 and learned that it was no longer the place to turn in the sticker. I discovered too late on the return trip that I should have stopped at the new station outside of Caborca to turn it in so I came home with it. That was last August...my questions are first, on my next road trip can I purchase a new import sticker on line and then stop at the Caborca station on my way in and "turn in" the old sticker for any hope of a credit? And, can I get tourist permits at that station, or do I have to get them in Sonoyta? Are they available on line? Is the Caborca station open 24 hours? Thanks for being a great source of real information. Jim"

RE: Vehicle Deposits

Reviewing my Credit Card statement I was charged 364.17 for TIP and deposit. I was refunded 320.22 for deposit making my TIP and credit card surcharges costing $42. I am happy!

Butterfly visit from Patzcurao

I know we are a little late in the season but since it is close we will give it a shot. Is the Hotel Villa Monarch Inn still open for parking of rig? And we are planning on taking the old Mex 15 from Moreila, is that still advisable.

RE: Reverse 12 V polariy at rear of A Class for tow lites

Problem solved. I had the ground wire on the wrong pin at the towed to motor home interface.

RE: Reverse 12 V polariy at rear of A Class for tow lites

Eureka I found it. Measuring the voltage at the output of the motor home, the white wire is positive to the other wires, ie tail stop and turn are neutral or negative . I have a chassis that is not neutral situation so how do I reverse it ? I dont have room in the taillight assembly for another socket and bulb. I wanted to do that but it was impossible

Reverse 12 V polariy at rear of A Class for tow lites

I am converting from tow truck type magnetic lites and found that that the yellow green brown white is reverse polarity. ie green to white is green negative and white positive same with the green and brown. Now for my towed with diodes this reverse polarity will not work. I cannot figure out how the stop turn and running lites can be reverse polarity at the rear of my rig.

RE: Looking for a David L Pasula

My experience is that most stations accept the cards. Sometimes the connection does not work and they say no accept international cards, but this year this has not happened as much. I always hand the operator my 5 or 10 peso tip with the card and they are happy to take the card. I think some of the busy highway stations dont like the cards because they cannot do the short change scam on the naive gringo.

RE: Looking for a David L Pasula

Snow River TC has collected 200 pesos from a bunch of us and will take it to the Pemex. We want to be fair to this Pemex pumper from a very honest station. The lesson is to look at your Credit Card receipt to protect both you and the pump operator.

Looking for a David L Pasula

you filled up your 4 door, gray Diesel P/up truck at the Pemex at Melaque on Tuesday and paid with Credit card. An older gentlemen, who has worked there for over 30 years, Carlos Garibaldy, filled your truck. The total was 1,050.00 pesos. He incorrectly entered the credit card amount as 10.50 pesos. Please return to the Pemex station and pay the difference, or Carlos will have that deducted from his pay. THANK YOU for doing the right thing!

RE: Getting within cooee of El Rosario Butterfly Sanctuary

We are thinking about going there around mid March. Is that too late to see the butterflies?

loto 649 tickets- post edit subscriptions avail in Alberta

As a BC resident I used to be able to subscribe once a year for my lotto numbers I have been using for 30 yrs. They stopped that service and I had to go to the online gambling site. Very convenient for them eh - encourage me to do other gambling!! Anyway they gave me $100 in tokens for doing this and I got free lottery tickets for 25 weeks. Unfortunately I did not top up with a Credit Card until I was out of BC so they would let me do it, you cant gamble in BC from Mexico!!!. So I had to get my brother use my card from BC and topped up with another $100. Now on my Visa bill I am seeing cash advance interest charges. And a query to Visa indicates that this type of transaction is considered cash because I could withdraw it as cash.(when I did the mail in subscription paying with a credit card there was no interst because I could withdraw as cash) MY QUESTION- IS THERE ANOTHER PROVINCE THAT STILL ALLOWS ADVANCE SUBSCRIPTIONS by mail for UP TO A YEAR FOR LOTTO 649?

RE: New bypass around Chihuatlan ( 14 km south of melaque)

I took the Cihuatlan bypass today and it is a beautuful road. I was surprised at the people walking along the sides of the road. It is very poorly marked as when you cross the bridge on the state line and turn slighly left for the old bus route look further left- There should be better signage. A newbie RV er would surely miss it and end up in the town. Signage is something much to be desired down here but they are improving gradually.

RE: PEMEX Rest Stops for RV's

I have found toll booth stations a good place to spend the night. they have by definition lots of security because they have lots of money on hand!! I have also used Military check points. Pemexs are good if you get one well lit and you are away from running trucks. I have a Rex electronic dog which senses motion outside my rig and barks~~
