Never leave your RV with the water on. Always shut it off and you can never have this problem again.
Pogoil.
Even if we leave to go to grocery store, we always turn our water off.
This is the approach we always follow as well. We also turn the water pump switch off if we are using the onboard fresh water tank. I saw what happened to a 5er years ago that had an internal water line burst while the Owner's were gone for the day....it was ugly. Good luck!

I am on my third trailer with slides. Not one of them has ever leaked. As other might have said, I would be hard pressed to own a TT without slides.

The mirrors on my XLT are manual. Can't say I have had any issues or concerns with the size or lack of a power fold on them.

Our slides get extended the day our seasonal site opens and remain extended until the camping season closes. They get retracted (and stay that way) when the camper gets moved to its covered storage for the winter months.
